Changes in McCain's press shop

By Scott Helman, Political Reporter July 16, 2007 11:56 AM

More turnover at Arizona Senator John McCain's presidential campaign: His press operation will soon be under new management.

Jill Hazelbaker, who has been McCain's New Hampshire communications director, is set to take over as national communications director this week following the resignation today of Brian Jones, who had held the position. Hazelbaker will likely assume her new post this week, according to a campaign insider who asked to remain anonymous.

Hazelbaker declined to discuss whether she was taking the new job but said McCain has an "unmatched political ability" and that she remained optimistic about his campaign.

Matt David and Danny Diaz, two of Jones's deputies, have also resigned from the campaign. For more on McCain campaign changes, check out Marc Ambinder's blog over at The Atlantic.
