Giuliani on air in NH, Iowa

Posted by Scott Helman, Political Reporter July 23, 2007 12:45 PM

Who says Rudy Giuliani is going to cede New Hampshire and Iowa? That's the message his campaign is sending today in unveiling three new radio ads set to begin running in the first two primary states. And aides say to expect a lot more where this comes from.

The three ads -- called "Out of Control," "Will Do," and "Garbage Can" -- all highlight Giuliani's record as mayor of New York. Giuliani makes the case that he's a fiscal conservative who has shown he can hold down spending, reduce taxes, and erase yawning deficits through conservative solutions.

Giuliani began running national radio ads a couple months ago, but these are the first he's run in the states. The story behind the story: Giuliani knows that as a pro-choice candidate with a history of supporting gay rights and gun control he will never win over all of the GOP's socially conservative voters. So he's appealing to their pocketbooks instead.
