Edwards takes another slap, or two, at Clinton

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor November 5, 2007 11:33 AM

John Edwards just couldn't resist one more needle of Hillary Clinton for what he calls double-talk on questions.

His campaign produced a video titled "The Politics of Parsing" in response to the Clinton campaign's video "The Politics of Pile On," which suggested that her Democratic rivals ganged up on her during last week's debate in Philadelphia.

This morning, Edwards bragged that his video has been viewed about 228,000 times on YouTube -- three times more than Clinton's video -- and released another video, which concedes she has given one yes or no answer to a yes or no question.

"Oops, our bad," the screen says, before showing Clinton saying she will continue to take money from lobbyists because they actually represent "real Americans."

Edwards, along with Barack Obama, has been persistently pressing that issue, arguing that Clinton is too beholden to special interests to bring real change to Washington.

In Iowa today, Edwards is also accusing Clinton of pushing a two-faced foreign policy and failing to do enough to stop what he says is President Bush's march to war with Iran. He and Obama are arguing that Clinton is making the same mistake on Iran as she did on Iraq by voting in 2002 to authorize Bush to take military action.

"Senator Clinton is voting like a hawk in Washington, while talking like a dove in Iowa and New Hampshire," Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery and provided to the Associated Press.
