Giuliani backer resigns over Muslim remarks

I hope Mr. Giuliani takes a few moments to explain to the nation why it is inappropriate to be so rabidly, ignorantly anti-Muslim in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, where good men and women are dying to defend our right to freedom of religion.
Hating terrorists is another matter, but even terrorists must be given due process of law in a civilized state. But when it comes to hating Muslims, it seems many Giuliani backers feel as Mr. Deady does.
Mr. Giuliani can show some real leadership by defending Muslim Americans from those fearful, hateful folk who wish to see them "back in their caves." He might start by remembering Sacco and Vanzetti, and a time when Italian-Americans were feared and hated as communists and anarchists. Somebody stood up to defend Mr. Giuliani's father (and my grandfather as well); now is a good time for Mr. Giuliani to return the favor. It's the American thing to do.
