It's a bird, it's a plane...it's a blimp

To say Ron Paul and his supporters have been waging an unconventional campaign for president would be an understatement.

And now, they are planning another first -- a blimp.

That's right, an airship with Paul's name emblazoned on the side will, if all goes as planned, tool around New Hampshire leading up to the Jan. 8 Republican primary.

Organizers said on their website today that they have raised the initial $200,000 to launch the blimp on Monday in Elizabeth City, N.C. They aim to raise $350,000 by Dec. 21 total to keep it in the air through the primary.

The plan for the "Ron Paul Blimp Tour" calls for the blimp to be the star of rallies in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday and in New York City on Wednesday, before arriving in Boston on Friday. The blimp is to appear at a rally in Boston on Saturday, then play a key role in a fund-raising event on Sunday timed with the Boston Tea Party: Tea is to be dumped from the blimp into Boston Harbor.

Organizers have posted a video that, as Electric Light Orchestra sings "Don't Bring Me Down," lays out the entire plan. As Paul's supporters like to do, it also chides the mainstream media, saying even it won't be able to ignore a blimp.

  1. Can you imagine news bfootage of Mitt or Rudy or Hillary trying to cajole the voters when suddenly the Ron Paul Blimp sails past and everyone turns to watch it?

  1. Can you imagine Rudy's supporters being able to do this without any help from the campaign?

  1. RonPaul2008.com - make your own decisions. Don't let the corporate-controlled lapdogs that is today's media and "trusted" news sources choose your president for you.
