New poll shows Obama and Clinton neck-and-neck in New Hampshire

By Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor December 14, 2007 11:15 AM

Another poll of New Hampshire voters confirms a too-close-to-call race on the Democratic side and a double-digit lead for Mitt Romney among Republicans less than a month before the all-important primary.

This one was commissioned by the Concord Monitor, which reported today that the poll shows Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton virtually tied with 32 percent and 31 percent, respectively, among likely Democratic voters. John Edwards has 18 percent and Bill Richardson 8 percent. Obama hold a sizable lead among independents, who can pick which party's primary they want to vote in Jan. 8.

Among likely Republican voters, Romney leads with 31 percent, ahead of Rudy Giuliani with 18 percent, John McCain with 17 percent, and Mike Huckabee with 9 percent.

The poll was conducted Monday through Wednesday and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

  1. Obama's campaign is rapidly gaining momentum, peaking at the right time, as many Americans suddenly realize this is not the 90's, and you cannot boast on your husband's experience as part of your portfolio. Let Americans turn the page and move foward, not backward.

  1. IM BLACK WOMAN AND CLINTON SEALED MY VOTE! IM ASHAMED OF HOW OPRAH SINGLE HANDIDLY HAS TUNRED THIS ELECTION INTO A RACE OR RACE ISSUE! THEN GET READY OPRAH, PEOPLE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF IT AND WILL FIGHT BACK!

Hillary is one of the most outstanding women of the 21 century. Because of that, she is continually drug through the mud, bashed, ridiculed and called numerous names; by ALL media outlets (men controlled no doubt) Osama's camp started circulating bogus memos and lies about her and now about her mother and daughter. What a nasty sick group at oprhabama camp! That’s what you're voting for when you support the likes of obama. NO OTHER WOMAN IN POLITICS HAS EVER HAD TO WITHSTAND, SUCH PERSONAL ATTACKS TRYING TO HELP THE SAD DISFUCTIONAL STATE THIS COUNTRY IS IN! It makes me ASHAMED OF HOW WE DO THINGS IN THIS COUNTRY! She continues to with stand numerous personal attacks from men who are imitated like obama and Edwards. The media has not reported on her campaign or outstanding public service record. She continues to be attacked by any supporter that has a negative opinion about oprahbama. THIS IS A DISGRACE TO OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM, that the media types like oprah are selling the Dream yes, oprah has put a dollar amount on Dr. Kings dream.
NO ONE APPEARS TO BE INTERESTED IN WHATS BEST FOR THE US AND THE FUTURE SAFELTY AND HEALTH CARE OF OUR CHILDREN like Hillary Clinton does. Obama would rather run around and play the race game. EXACTLY like when OJ Simpson was losing his trial, the race card ALWAYS gets thrown in as oprah as done when obama was down in the polls. People use the race card because they don’t want to be held accountable for their failures.
Oprah Winphrey and Obama are disgusting and so is anyone who would support the selling of America. If obamawinphrey would get the nomination WE ALL KNOW VERY WELL HE CANT WIN IN THE GENERAL ELECTION, THIS COUNTRY WILL FALTER UNDER THAT NEW REPUBLICAN PRESIDENCY... OBAMA IS HUGH MISTAKE FOR THIS COUNTRY, HE CANNOT BRING THIS COUNTRY TOGETHER, HE AND OPRAH HAVE DRAWN A LINE RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE, AND WE ARE EVEN MOVE DIVIDED AS A COUNTRY AFTER LAST WEEKEND DOG AND PONY THEN EVER BEFORE. Yes Oprah has power look what she did with it! She makes it difficult for another educated BLACK WOMAN TO SUCCEED NOW! I would never watch, read or use a product oprah endorses. THE WORLD HAS LOST THEIR LOVE AFAIR WITH OPRAH...

DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAMAWINPHREY, YOU WILL BE SELLING YOUR CHILDS FUTURE!

  1. Anyone who doesn't know that political campaigns are three-fourths showbiz isn't admitting the obvious.

The truth is, the Republicans are praying (literally) that Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate because they know they can beat her. She comes with a lot of assailable baggage, and frankly there are just an awful lot of Republicans who actually hate her.

Obama is the only candidate that can win, that can bring us to a new place in the world, and who is unassailable by Republicans. More importantly, I have many Republican friends who will vote Democratic because of him.

  1. The Republicans absolutely despise Hillary Clinton, but polls have shown that many Republicans will vote for Obama in the general election. Thus, Obama is the more electable candidate.
As a woman, I would love to see a woman in the Oval Office. But Hillary just can't win the general election. Too many people despise her.
Democrats will be making a HUGE mistake if they nominate Hillary. Just like they did when they nominated John Kerry, who had no charisma and put people to sleep with his speeches.

  1. Post #6, why are you against Oprah? What did she do to you? I too believe that Barack Obama is "the one". When I heard his speech at the convention in 2004 I knew that he was the one that could put this country back together again, heal this country, not divide it the way Hillary would. How can you still support Hillary after the sleaze her campaign has been putting out against Obama? Where is your outrage? The Clintons had their chance in the 90's, now it's time to turn the page. No more Bush - Clinton - Bush - Clinton.

  1. If you are really a "black woman" you do not want Hillary Clinton. She will only give you lip service. Barack understands and cares about your issues.

  1. Poster #6 is one of Hillary news site trolls that post this cr*p all over the place. It is cut and paste stuff and they purposely put in typos to make it look like a real person typed it in but it is actually carefully prepared HRC talking points. Pathetic, isnt it?

  1. Poster #6: You appear to have posted something that was "scripted" for you, either by the Clinton campaign, or by one of her hardcore group of female supporters. Either way, though I am white, I could claim anywhere on the internet I am black and who would know? But from the black people I have spoken with Hillary has ignored every single promise she made to them in New York State when she wanted their vote for Senator. Since then, she has ignored requests for help in their communities, programs have lost their funding and Hillary has not stood up for a single thing for the black people in New York. They absolutely hate her. And Oprah was exercizing her right as a CITIZEN to support who she chose to support. That was NOT about race, but about her endorsing who SHE feels is best suited for President and best suited to do things for the poor black communities as he did as a community advocate in the Southside of Chicago and he did a lot of good work there. She has known him for years and took a big gamble and publicly endorsed him. So has Will Smith. Are you going to condemn him also? What about all the black actors who have endorsed him and famous atheletes? It is NOT ABOUT RACE. It is about endorsing the candidate of your choice. Do they because they are famous lose the right to endorse who they choose to? I don't see you slinging mud against those that endorse Hillary that are famous, only Oprah. Appears suspicious to me you are only slinging mud at black people which makes me think you just may be white after all and RACIST.

  1. Hillary Clinton is the worst choice out there. She is more like our current president that any of the republican canidates, and we all know how well he has done :) Our country needs Obama to get this nomination. I see him as our only hope. Lets just hope for the sake of the country that he gets it.
And let me just say for the record that as soon as I heard she was running I thought "oh yea I'll definitly vote for her", but then she opened her mouth and I started hearing what she actually had to say and that was the end of that.

  1. Hillary is the best because of past exeperience and regular mental development to focus on those issues which are not highlighted at this moment.

  1. Running for president means asking a lot of people to put their faith in you -- and putting your faith in a lot of people. You've never let me down, and my promise to you has always been this: if you put your faith in me, I will fight for you every day when I'm president.

When I get to the White House, I'll end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home. I'll stop the cowboy diplomacy and Bush's war on science. I'll reverse the attacks on our Constitution and civil liberties. I'll ask the Congress to send me everything that Bush vetoed, like stem cell research and the Children's Health Insurance Program. From day one, I'll be fighting for you, because America needs a clean and decisive break from seven years of George Bush.

Not one of the Republican candidates is capable of making that happen. They're all promising four more years of the same failed policies.

They see Bush's failure in Iraq and want to continue it. They see failure of leadership on the economy and want to repeat it. They see his assault on civil liberties and the disgraces of Guantanamo and want to carry them on.

We need a candidate who can beat them.
    ~ Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
