Obama bemoans end to normalcy

WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa -- Barack Obama likes to joke that he's a "hopemonger" but at an event today in an elementary school gym, he led slip a fear. Whether he is elected president or remains stuck in the US Senate, Obama suggested, his family is on a path to abnormality.
"My wife and I were talking the other day and she said, 'We're not doing this again,' " Obama said in a lengthy digression in answer to a question about executive power. "She said, 'You know, in eight years, I'm not sure we'll be the same people as we are now.' "
Obama recounted that five years ago, before he embarked on his Senate campaign in Illinois, he and his wife Michelle had just paid off all their law school loans, had yet to start a college fund for their two daughters, and were still living in a home they found too cramped.
"I was still doing the grocery-shopping on weekends," said Obama, with the suggestion that as a presidential candidate and best-selling author, he doesn't have time to bother with retail any more.
"Eight years from now we will have lost a little bit of touch with what ordinary families are going through," Obama said, then returning to his wife's words. "The way she put it was: 'We still remember what it's like to be normal.' "

Interesting, Obama seems to be projecting what his family will be like after the oval office.
Well, I hope Obama can still contribute this nation's success after his 2nd term expires.
A voter fell into the water (of despair) and prayed to God to be saved. Along came a man in a boat. But the person said God will save me. Then a plane came by and offered a raft but the voter said God will save me. Then came a helicopter and the voter said God will save me.
The voter lost all his rights because of a candidate who offered pie in the sky
ARE YOU WAITING TO BE SAVED
well Obama is your boat your, plane/raft, your helicopter
JUMP ON THE OBAMABOAT !!
Barack Obama sponsored and passed the transparency bill which exposes lobbyist donations and the tech plan at www.USAspending.gov which shows all government contracts and has the sunshine bill which will force politicians to expose their earmarks BEFORE they go up for passage. I take it to mean that if he doesn't win this time, and assuming that a Dem wins the general election, that he won't be a candidate for president in 2016. And, I think he is right. I also think he is the best hope for America right now.

Another honest Obama statement. Do you honestly think even two-term U.S. senators live "normal" lives? Think they worry about paying the mortgage, the college for the kids, getting groceries on their way home? Once a senator gets reelected, getting rid of him/her is almost impossible. It's the next-best job security after tenured professor, and certainly more powerful. Like Obama said when a fellow U.S. senator complained that he'd have to eat at MacDonald's without lobbyist-paid lunches (when Obama was pushing his successful anti-lobbyist bill), getting paid over $160,000/year, the poor complaining senator should be able to at least afford Applebee's.
