Romney gives some love to Michigan
The presidential candidates are mostly giving the cold shoulder to Michigan, whose primary on Jan. 15 falls awkwardly between the first nomination contests in Iowa and New Hampshire and other key contests in South Carolina and Florida, leading up to Super Tuesday on Jan. 5.
But Mitt Romney, who is as close to a native son as there is in the field, is giving the state some love.
Starting today, he is airing a new TV ad in which he says he feels Michigan's (economic) pain.
The ad begins with a photo of Romney and his father George was the state's governor, then shows Romney at a MSNBC Republican debate in Dearborn, Mich., in October.
"Michigan is personal," says Romney, who grew up in the Detroit suburbs. "It's inexcusable that Michigan is undergoing a one-state recession. High levels of unemployment, industry is shrinking here, jobs are going away.
He promises relief, saying: "We're going to invest in technology and research to make sure that American goods are pushing into other markets. We're also going to have to do a better job keeping our taxes down. I think I'm probably the only guy on this stage who spent most of his career in the business world. I understand how the economy works. There's a lot we can do to strengthen Michigan."

If Romney wins NH, which he is still likely to do, he will win Michigan.
Michigan is Romney's safety net. None of the other candidates have the resources to compete in Michigan and he has a great organization and a great reputation. Worst case scenario, Romney comes in 2nd in Iowa, 2nd in New Hampshire, 1st in Wyoming and MI puts him right back on track. Best case, he wins Iowa, NH, Wy and MI makes him unbeatable in SC and FL. Meet President Romney.
Well said, Mr. Romney!
Maybe he can override Michigan so called Governor. She is one of the states anchors. Meaning reason for sinking.
Many of us who were alive when George Romney was Governor of Michigan remember him walking hand in hand with Martin Luther King in Grosse Pointe, Mi. These memories are entailing a lively discussion on Politico.com. George Romney was a wonderful human being, and I don't recall that his religion was ever discussed when he ran for office. Politics has devolved from that period of time. It has bcome, a blood sport. It is not surprising that the best people no longer go into politics,
Before voting for Romney, use due diligence, and investigate and analyze all of their beliefs. The Mormon Cult Sect doesn't want anyone to review the facts about their weirdo so-called faith. buried golden tablets , magical underwear, living on other planets, becoming gods themselves, baptism for other religion's dead ( including Jewish), after death having over 100 wifes (sounds like the terrorist beliefs in Iraq), their false prophet Hinckley having revelations from God, teachings that God currently inhabits a actual physical body, not being permitted to think for themselves apart from the group, and only accept what they are told by their Sect elders, and that all non-mormons (they call us Gentiles) will go to Hades. While Mormons share some beliefs with Christians, they are not Christians, and have perverted Christian teachings to create a false religion, with false prophecies and false teachings. Have the "Devils in Disquise" rang your door bell?
Even the actor Robert Redford, who has lived in Park City, UT, for over a decade, has spoken out on Mitt Romney and Mormons. "(Mormons) are very adept at not being fazed and speaking fluently and gracefully. Why? Because every single male who's a Mormon goes on a mission for two years when they're 19 or 20. ... They learn how to deflect blows and stay on message. No wonder Utah is the place that all these Republican senators go. It's perfect. So when you see Mitt Romney, he's already practicing how to deflect blows and stay on message. But it's plastic."
Romney has back himself into a corner--insisting that religion should play a role in politics, and yet insisting that his religion should not be examined. The secretive Sect made a last ditch effort, not be be questioned, by saying no religious "litmus" test should exist, and thus Romney would not be open to answer or reveal any specific questions on his faith. Forget about it, Mitt, "Silence will NOT be a option."
If you want a "brain-washed","mind-controlled","puppet" President, then by all means, vote for Williard (Mitt) Romney.
