Romney slaps Huckabee again in ad
Mitt Romney, trailing Mike Huckabee in Iowa with less than a week until the Republican caucuses, is launching a new TV ad today that criticizes the former Arkansas governor on both domestic and foreign policy.
The ad (watch it here) argues that Romney, more than Huckabee, is ready to make tough decisions. "The difference?" the announcer says. "Strong leadership."
It slaps Huckabee for growing the budget in Arkansas, for backing in-state tuition for children of illegal immigrants, for issuing pardons and commutations -- and contrasts that record with Romney's as Massachusetts governor.
The spot also quotes Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice -- responding to "Foreign Affairs" article Huckabee wrote that assailed the Bush administration's "arrogant" foreign policy -- as ludicrous.
It is the third contrast ad that Romney has run against Huckabee in Iowa. The first two focused on Huckabee's record and positions on illegal immigration, then crime.

I see slick Mitt is still up to his sleazy tactics, I guess his thinking is that if the first two ad's didn't work that this last one will. Mitt Romney is a man that has no creditability, so he spends all of his time attacking his fellow candidates.
its almost pathetic that a man in a race to contend for the ultimate position of honor in our country will stoop so low as this. come on, america, aren't we tired enough of attack ads? and this early on in the race? romney, please, do yourself this favor- stop playing offense and build up your own campaign. because although cheap shots may help you right now, you'll sneer off hundreds of voters like me, disgusted with your tactics.
If posting Huckabee’s voting record is viewed as being negative information, maybe the Huckster shouldn't have voted that way. If he is proud of his record on immigration, taxes, and spending, then the ads are anything but negative. Just comparisons, so people can know where each candidate stands.
Speaking of negativity, Huckabee, (the former Baptist preacher, for any of you who have missed that pandering), makes negative comments about Mormons constantly through innuendo and sly questions, such as the Jesus/Satan thing. Then he pretends (did I tell you that he was a former Baptist Preacher) that he knows little about Mormons and their beliefs. Yes, this is the same Huckabee (the former Baptist Preacher) who went to the Salt Lake City Southern Baptists Convention and preached anti-Mormon garbage there.
Not that religion has anything to do with qualifications for President of the United States, but you would think that Huckabee (you know, . . .The former Baptist Preacher), being all righteous and above all the negativity, would at least let us know what his real qualification are to run the country, balance the budget, end the war, lower taxes, etc.
Hey, lets just all go vote for him because, you know, he is after all, a former Baptist Preacher (Christian and all), just like us!
The Huckabee supporters cant stand anyone pointing out the differences between him and the other guys in the race. Huckabee is a liberal and a bigot. He needs to run as a democrat.
Rappin Romney! Rock Hudson Romney! Willard Milton Romney! Gov. Flip Flopney!
Corporate Bain Capital Romney! Mormon Milk Toast Romney!
Which "Romney" do you mean?
The TV ads are nothing. Romney continues to flood my Iowa mailbox with literature full of lies and half-truths. The latest one wants to criticize the Governor for lowering the maximum sentence for meth dealers from 40 to 20 years (the minimum is 10 years). Romney fails to mention that the maximum penalty in his own state of Massachusetts is 10 years and the minimum is four years. So the minimum and maximum penalties in Arkansas are still significantly higher than the ones in Massachusetts.
I think both Romney and Huckabee are fine men -- not perfect, but fine men. Politics can get ugly, and both of them have done things with which I am less than thrilled, but I still like both of them. I had hoped that they might end up as running mates, but that may become increasingly impossible as the fight becomes increasingly intense and the criticisms increasingly personal. (How sad.) Anyway, all things considered, I think Romney is the best qualified from among all the candidates. I view his so-called "negative" ads as merely being a fair response to Huckabee playing the religion card in order to replace Romney as the front runner in Iowa.
Those who vote for Mitt Romney will share the responsibly for electing a morally corrupt leader. The morality of a democracy is no better than the leaders it elects.

Dripping with irony, Romney supporters defend his attack ads, which take Mike Huckabee's record out of context, all the while demonizing those who so much as mention Romney’s sorted political past. With Romney, If it’s not flip-flopping on abortion, it’s his contradictory remarks about his sons’ service to this country; if it’s not his flip-flopping on immigration, it’s his investments in Iran after he called for New York state to disinvest from stocks that have stake in Iran; if it’s not his glib remark about Putin’s selection as Time’s Person of the Year, it’s him distorting his record on fighting drugs while governor of MA; if it’s not his half-truth about his father marching with Martin Luther King, it’s his questionable position on the board of Marriott International; if it’s not his bigoted remarks about Muslims in his cabinet, it’s his contradictory remarks about his position on Ronald Reagan; if it’s not his contradictory remarks about his desire to serve in Vietnam, it’s his outright lies about endorsements from the NRA. The list goes on, by the way…

Mike Huckabee doesn't change his position on his core values for personal gain. He's a tried and true conservative. He stands by his decision to ask Arkansas citizens not to punish the children of illegal aliens who were brought here as children. When did compassion become a flaw? He didn't want to give them free education - just charge them the same amount as the children who were their classmates for 12 years. At the same time, Mike Huckabee wants to build the fence and secure the borders. All the borders. (Remember shortly after 9/11 when the news reported that 3 Pakistani men had been able to get off a boat/ship near New Jersey and make it to shore. The FBI were looking for them but it was never announced that they were identified or found.) Mike Huckabee is the best candidate in the race for 2008. He is the real deal.
As an arkansan I know firsthand that Huckabee did an excellant job on our budget and we ended up with a surplus when he was leaving office. The new governer ran his campaign on eliminating taxes on groceries due to the surplus in our state.
Romney needs to get the facts straight.Unfortunately Huckabee is not a millionaire who can put up commercials constantly to defend himself.

??? ROMNEY'S RECORD as GOV. ???
Romney proudly encourages us to check his record as Gov. of Mass....let's do so..
Check ou this website by citizens who lived under Mitt's governorship in Mass. Theypresent documented evidence revealing that in "PRACTICE" Romney was NOT...
PRO ... life ... family... or traditional marriage !!!!

ALSO... watch a DISTURBING video below. Listen to what is now being taught to the children in some public schools in Mass.. & in New York. Would you want this curiculum taught in your public schools ???

As President... Mitt Romney would arrive at the White House with many strings attached and favors owed !!!
A very concerned mother & voter .....
Good point Lynette.
Strings attached and favors owed........... a very bad thing...............
We need a leader who has the The People's best interests in mind.
What about Ron Paul?
Romney is a flipping flopping fraud, he reminds me of a Ken doll. Being a citizen of massachusettts, I do not appreciate how Mitt Romney used this state and the people in it as a stepping stone to further his own political career. Every move Romney made was carefully calculated to look good when he ran for President. Mitt spent his last year as Governor of this state campaigning for President on the tax payers dime. Its no wonder Mitt left office with a low 48% approval rate..
Mitt is on a mission read about it here:

Response to... "2TheTop"...
I really agree with Ron Paul & Alan Keyes stressing the importance of "protecting, preserving and defending the Constitution of the U.S.". I would like to hear Mike Huckabee address this more. Check out the article below by Chuck Baldwan titled..."Christians Should Support Constitutional Government".
http://www.vdare.com/baldwin/071030_christians.htm
HOWEVER.... I am strongly leaning toward voting for Mike Huckabee at this time. I believe the future of our country will truly be determined by what we do with the family issues of ABORTION & TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE !! I know Huckabee is passionate about this and will be very active to end abortion and to protect marriage & our core family values.
Replying to.... "2TheTop" (#14 above).....
I really do appreciate what I hear Ron Paul & Alan Keyes saying about "preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution of the U.S." Take a look at the article below by Chuck Baldwin... titled: "Christians Should Support Constitutional Government".

HOWEVER.... I truly believe that the future of our country (in the eyes of God) stands or falls on what we as a people do about ABORTION & TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE !!
For that reason, I am leaning toward voting for MIKE HUCKABEE. I hear and see his passion for eliminating the murder of innocent babies and for maintaining the integrity of the traditional marriage & family.

Romney is the consumate flip-flopper, phoney and fake.
During his campaign for Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney promised judicial reform for Massachusetts. The reality is he left the system more broken than it was before his term in office. Judge Tuttman is not an isolated incident. Governor Romney also nominated and pushed for the confirmation of Judge Mitchel J. Sikora to the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. When Romney did this, he was made personally aware by me that Judge Sikora had a track record of "outrageous" leniency toward violent criminals. By way of example only, prior to the judicial confirmation hearing, members of the public made Governor Romney personally aware that Judge Sikora had:
„h Acquitted the man who killed Jacqueline O' Donald finding that, giving her the date-rape drug GBL was not "reckless or wanton" enough to sustain the charge of manslaughter because Dolan "did not know the drug was dangerous to the point of grave bodily harm." (See Boston Globe article dated December 31, 2003, "Plymouth Man, 34 Cleared in Death")
„h Released a rapist from the Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous in Bridgewater, over the strenuous objections of the Department of Corrections. Governor Cellucci called Sikora's decision "outrageous." Shortly after Judge Sikora released him, the rapist/pedophile was arrested for stalking girls with a rope, rock, and knife in his car, - his weapons of choice. (See Boston Herald article dated March 12, 1999, "Freed Mass. Rapist Arrested in UConn Stalking Incidents")
„h Conducted Monty-Python type trials complete with jurors dressed in Halloween costumes. (See Boston Herald article dated October 31, 2004, "Judges Trick No Treat for Litigants")
The above are merely a few examples of the abhorrent behavior of Judge Mitchel Sikora. The public record documents that Judge Sikora was untruthful during his confirmation hearing. In spite of his personal knowledge of that kind of record (and I have the documents that prove it), Governor Romney elevated Judge Sikora to a higher court. If Romney becomes president of America, we will see a callous disregard for the quality of the federal judicial appointments and the protection of the public.

Mike Huckabee has a verifiable record of strong leadership as a true conservative for over 10 years in Arkansas. He invigorated the economy, vastly improved infrastructure, operated with no deficit spending and left the state with over $800 million in surplus.
You can be duped by Romney ads, or you can take a few minutes and learn the truth about Huckabee:

WOW, you got two republicans in there for the most crooked politicians debrar, thats pretty good. Hey, are u a staight person?
Beware of Romney. He is just telling everyone what he thinks you will want to hear so he can win. He cut taxes but raised fees everywhere. He cut funding on our school systems which forced towns to override Prop 2 1/2 which would raise PROPERTY TAXES so our schools could continue to function. When the roof tile fell and killed the woman in the Big Dig Tunnel, he came in on his shining white horse to "save the day". He went into the tunnel as a photo op with the person in charge of the tunnel and Lt. Gov. Kerry - and he and the manager were wearing hard hats, but Kerry, a woman, wasn't. HE IS JUST AS SLIMEY AS can be.... and he has no foreign affairs experience. He is a corporate businessman - the same kind that makes profits off the rest of us. BEWARE - he is awful!
Romney is a snake-oil salesman. Huckabee is a flash in the pan. The Shoot-and-Spend Republican Party has one credible candidate -- McCain -- and he's living in the 1950s.
Interesting Debrar. Your list did not include:
1. Republican Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham, currently serving a prison sentence for bribery.
2. Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) currently under Federal investigation for influence peddling.
3. Republican Congressman Mark Foley, admitted pedophile.
4. Senator David Vitter (R-La), a "family values" Republican who was using the D.C. Madame "escort" service, (I wonder what part of Vitter they "escorted").
5. Republican Newt Gingrich, who was engaging in adultery with his secretary while persecuting Bill Clinton for engaging in adultery.
Romney sticks to the issues. Both McCain and Huckabee get personal. This tells you something about integrity and civility.
Huckabee touts his Christian acumen every time he gets a chance. I seem to remember in the bible--who was it, the Pharisees or Sadducees that the Savior denounced because they did things in the public square to tout how "good" they were.
Huckabee brought this on himself, but going against the constitution and running an ad which implies a religious test for government office. Our Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves.
Huckabee as a Christian, could have healed and assuaged the divide between Mormons and Evangelicals, but instead he made the issue worse for his own selfish political gain. He is very cunning in how he addresses the issue. He'll say "Don't vote for me just because I'M CHRISTAIN..." Note he doesn't say BAPTIST. In the same breath he'll say "DON"T VOTE AGAINST ROMNEY BECAUSE HE'S MORMON" Implying he's not CHRISTIAN without saying it. You'll find this pattern in his speech throughout. He is a cunning one--very deceptive. He'll also say he doesn't know much about Mormons so he can't comment on them, but he felt very free to do so when he led the Baptist convention in 1998 in Salt Lake. Did he forget what he thought he was an authority on then?? And people say he has integrity???? Gimme a break. Extremely deceptive...
You'll notice how angry he gets when people question his record. This man has neither the class nor the honor to be the President of the United States. He is Jimmy Carter in Republicans clothes. I think Hillary Clinton would be tougher on Terrorists.
Focus on his responses to Romney's comparison ads and prove me wrong. Huckabee gets personally nasty against Romney every time. Huckabee is all rhetoric. Romney is action.
" SEARCH for the TRUTH"
Before giving you the 3 websites below....I'd like to make this comment...
"Many people automatically assume that those who DISAGREE with the premises of the LDS Church (Mormonism) are motivated by hatred & are therefore, ANTI-MORMON. But it is my hope that thoughtful people will look beyond the name-calling to carefully examine the areas of belief that separate the LDS Church from the "BIBLICAL" norm."

"How can you know what is true....unless there is a TRUTH you can know ??"
(see II Timothy chapters 2-4 in the Bible)
I can't trust Romney: check this out, how he still wants it both ways on gay rights -- and actually ENDORSES state gay rights laws: www.rffv.org (Republicans For Famly Values)
Edging close to a new new nick-- "Mindless Mitt." If it's knee-jerk reactions you want, we've got the jerk for you! Romney has nothing to run on.
The reason the liberal press constantly writes against Romney, especially the Boston Globe is because they are afraid that if he is the Republican candidate he can win the nomination for President. They are pushing Hucklebee because they know he doesn't have a chance, and they want the liberal democrat to win. Mitt Romney was the best Governor we ever had. He is a good man with great values and he will put our country back on track.
Go Romney go.... Isn't it annoying that the "christians of the south" have so much influence on elections. Iowa, a pissant and religiously biased state kicks off the elections. What a flaw in our election system. I am sure that more moderate people who will see that Mitt Romney's so called flip flop policies are in fact successful attempts in making good choices who benefited massechussats greatly. Come on people in Iowa. We know you aren’t the brightest. But perhaps you would like to consider candidates other then Baptist preachers!
Reading this article and the reponses here is very disappointing. I believe our country will never change its direction. We do not have a Federal Government we have a National Central Government. Ron Paul is the only candidate from either party who tells it like it is. He is not full of slogans and quipy answers. That is why Ron Paul has no chance because the voting public are ignorant and wish to stay that way. Deep down the majority of the voting public wish for an all powerful central national government. People wish to be led by the hand instead of doing for themselves. "...have we a republic or a monarchy?... A Republic Madam, if you can keep it" Benjamin Frankln. It would be nice if people could understand the notion of limited government and States Rights but that is fantasy now.
My main worry about Romney is that that he's a member of a religion with secret rites. I have literature published by the LDS church which does claim that Jesus and Satan were brothers, both sons of "Heavenly Father". Yet people laugh at Huckabee’s statement. I'm worried that, if he's nominated, the left will use all their dirt diggers, Hollyweird, and the media to bombard America with anti-Mormon propaganda, regardless of its basis in truth.
The Mormon Church is a secretive, money machine, but some are more worried about the Baptists. The Baptist church is a transparent, mainstream organization. I know of instances where the Mormon Church busted up marriages of "unequally yoked" couples, by requiring the “believer” to “comfort” another believer. I also know of instances where the LDS church has threaten the jobs of "unbelievers". I know of no other "Christian church", which requires you to believe in both Jesus AND Joseph Smith. Just ask one if you can go to heaven if you only believe in Jesus. Does Romney’s religion really affect his ability to be a good president? No, but it severely reduces the likelihood he will win against Obama or Clinton.
I will vote for any of the candidates, but I believe Romney is too much of a liability. Giuliani’s marital problems are a drop in the bucket. I also don’t trust that he will champion my pro-live, pro-gun values. I admire Giuliani for maintaining his views that are contrary to mine, and I can support him because I really know where he stands. But I don’t trust somebody who has a record contrary to what he says now.
You may think I’m an anti-Mormon bigot, but I’m speaking pragmatically. I have valued friends who are Mormon; I’m closer to them on all issues than other demographic group I can think of. I also know how much the left hates Jet Blue because of their Mormon ties, and across the country, I have spoken to a diverse groups of liberals who proudly fear and attack Mormons much more so over Christians. And as far as evangelicals blindly voting for a Christian, I would vote for a Jew, Joe Lieberman, over a Baptist Jimmy Carter any day. It has nothing to do with "christians of the south" – wise up!
