Tancredo ad says gangs loose in US

By Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor December 4, 2007 04:15 PM

Republican Tom Tancredo today unveiled a second hard-hitting TV ad on illegal immigration, this one blaming porous borders for allowing violent Central American gangs into the country.

The spot shows victims of the gangs in Central America, then shows victims in the US as the screen says, "Pushing Drugs. Raping Kids. Destroying Lives. The Consequences of Open Borders." (Watch it here.)

The ad, which will air in Iowa, is a sequel to one of the most talked-about ads of the presidential campaign so far, one that warned that terrorists were loose in the US because of lax immigration laws. It showed a hooded man entering a shopping mall and ended with the sound of an explosion.

The Colorado congressman has been the most vociferous on the issue, and at last week's debate took credit for other Republicans also talking tough.

  1. Hard hitting factual ads (not about fear) like Tancredo's is necessary to tell the American people that its okay to discuss vs the "politically correct" attitude that it does not exist. The book, "The Mexican Mafia" by Tony Rafael is a must read.

  1. I thank Tom Tancredo for having the courage to tell America that illegal immigration is bad for this country.

Folks have been talking around the coffee table for decades about the problems caused by illegal aliens and illegal immigration, but few have had the courage to stand up in public and tell it like it is, and to demand that something be done about it.

Tancredo is telling the truth in this ad.

In "Sanctuary City" Chicago, where goodness knows how many busloads, truckloads and trainloads of illegal aliens arrive each day, such gang violence described in Tancredo''s new ad happens every day, in real life.

On Halloween of 2007, a pregnant woman named Leticia Barrera was shot in the head and killed by gang violence as she brought her three young children home from trick-or-treating in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood of Chicago. Her brains were blown out right in front of her kids -- blood and shards of bone everywhere for those children to see.

Is that the kind of future we want for our communities in this country? Do we want to be a place where mothers cannot walk with their children down the sidewalk in front of their own home?

SHUT THE BORDER and OUST THE GANGS!

  1. I just want to say that once Tancredo drops out, his supporters are all welcome in the Ron Paul ReEVOLution. Pauls stance on illegal aliens: 1) No amnesty 2)End birthright citizenship. 3)No welfare or federal benefits. 4) Secure our borders.

  1. So all our nations woes are from these poor illegals??
The Corporations leaving and investing in Asia, The factories that had not one ILLEGAL, Such as Chrysler, Ford, Ibm, Whirlpool , The mortgage meltdown, The stock market , All these issues were created by these poor immigrants that work the lettuce fields and pick our food? GET REAL>

I am not saying DONUT CLOSE THE BORDERS, I am saying stop deflecting the BLAME ON ILLEGALS ONLY.

But let's not kid ourselves that all we care about is obeying the law and all we are asking illegals to do is go home and get in line like everybody else. We know perfectly well that the line is too long, and we are basically telling people to go home and not come back.

Let's not kid ourselves, either, about who we are telling this to. To characterize illegal immigrants as queue-jumping, lawbreaking scum is seriously unjust. The motives of illegal immigrants--which can be summarized as "a better life"--are identical to those of legal immigrants. In fact, they are largely identical to the motives of our own parents, grandparents and great-grandparents when they immigrated. And not just that. Ask yourself, of these three groups--today's legal and illegal immigrants and the immigrants of generations ago--which one has proven most dramatically its appreciation of our country? Which one has shown the most gumption, the most willingness to risk all to get to the U.S. and the most willingness to work hard once here? Well, everyone's story is unique. But who loves the U.S. most? On average, probably, the winners of this American-values contest would be the illegals, doing our dirty work under constant fear of eviction, getting thrown out and returning again and again.

And how about those of us lucky enough to have been born here? How would we do against the typical illegal alien in a "prove how much you love America" reality TV show?

  1. Unadulterated blatant racism. Nothing less.

Guys like Tancredo used to wear white robes and hoods, now it's suits and ties.

Yet another example of how the U.S. is rapidly becoming a Fascist Idiocracy.

  1. lighten up on the illigals. Why do they come here? For the benefits. Jobs, welfare, medical, and education. Lets get tough on the employers, and the agencies providing the other benefits and they (illigals) would have no reason for coming here.

  1. To characterize the Tancredo ad as "hard hitting" rather than "inflammatory" or "divisive" reveals the Globe's bias. Corporate Media tends to present news in a way that subordinates the presentation of facts to the provocative value of those facts, in order to foster social divisions that advance the financial interests of the corporate class.

  1. Since when was obeying the law up for debate? Where has America gone that we can just allow people to blatantly disrespect and disobey the laws that have been set in place for years? The answer is simple... it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with race, ethnicity, etc. It's about obeying the law that everyone else has to. People must not understand the term ILLEGAL immigrant. If illegals want to be so "American" then why do they send billions of dollars back to their home countries? Why do they run around waving their country's flag? And the biggest myth, "That they are here doing jobs that Americans WON'T do", is a bunch of bull. Its just that employers would rather exploit someone and pay $2 an hour rather than $7. Also, on the farms, we have machinery available for farmers to use... all they need to do is mechanize, but their too cheap and only concerned about feeding their pockets.

  1. "Pushing Drugs, Raping Kids" - How odious
There is no group in the world that does not include destructive and cruel people, but to put the sins of some on an entire group is nothing but racism.
I don't hear a public outcry for the jailing of all white teenagers after yet another public mass murder perpetrated by one. If the killer in Omaha had been an illegal immigrant, Tancredo and the others would be falling over themselves to vilify all immigrants.

  1. God Bless Tom Tancredo! He knows the costs to taxpayers of the Illegal invasion on our country. Incarceration of Illegals 376 Million in 2006,Emergency Medical for Illegals, 250 Million in 2003,Education for Illegal’s children, 28.6 Billion in 2004. See NumbersUSA.com or FAIR.com. The loss of our jobs, our sovereignty and quality of life...priceless!
I urge anyone reading this post to go and visit the border towns between Mexico and America , you will see that what Tom Tancredo has been consistantly saying is true. Unlike most of our politicans, Tancredo has not been paid off by the NAFTA groups, La Raza, Chamber of Commerce or any other anti-American group. And don't believe the media when they say Latino's support Illegals, most do not!

  1. Hey "Funny" the problem with your lack of intellectual honesty is that you have none. Did you actually read what you wrote before sending it in? I doubt it, because it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. "Illegal" is in the dictionary. Go and buy one, it might help you out before you look like an idiot.
Hey "Pancho". typical response from those who can't handle when people call a spade a spade (oops, racism there too, eh?_).
"Arnie", you obviosly can not understand the issue. Of course there is a reason they come here. there is also a reason why we try and limit the number that come into the US every year.
"Randy", another conspiracy theorist. Keep trying, you might yet grow a brain, but I doubt it.
