Candidates rush to Battleground Massachusetts

Welcome to Battleground Massachusetts: Three of the four presidential front-runners will be in Boston on Monday.

Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign confirmed today that she plans a campaign swing through Boston on Monday, the eve of the Super Tuesday election, underscoring Massachusetts' role as a key battleground state in the 22-state contest.

And on the Republican side, John McCain also is expected to campaign in Massachusetts on Monday, hoping to take support from Mitt Romney in his backyard.

It will be Clinton's second visit to Massachusetts within a week. Last Monday, she appeared in Springfield on the same day that her opponent, Senator Barack Obama, picked up the endorsement of US Senator Edward M. Kennedy -- energizing the Obama campaign, which views the state as winnable, and shaking up Clinton supporters.

Obama's campaign announced on Wednesday that he, too, plans to visit Boston on Monday as Massachusetts and 21 other states cast their votes in the Democratic primary.

Among the states voting on Tuesday, Massachusetts offers the fifth-largest share of Democratic delegates -- 121, or 8 percent of the delegates up for grabs that day.

Details of the three campaign visits are not yet available.

  1. Nothing will unite the conservative rightwing evangelical zealots like Clinton as candidate. Nothing will change America more than an Obama presidency. End the Drama, vote Obama

  1. Not just Massachusetts. McCain is in Fairfield, Connecticut at Sacred Heart University on Sunday. Obama is in Hartford Monday before heading to Boston and Hillary is also in Connecticut Monday. Massachusetts is not the only "Battleground".

  1. Haven't we learned already what happens when you elect someone that's "green" and offers change...and that's just a governor. Our nation is facing too many important issues right now, we don't have time to elect someone that's not ready to go on day one. I know that phrase has been said one too many times but it's definitely Clinton in the primary. She knows the issues the best, she's staffed an office in the White House, and she's tried and failed to pass comprehensive health care reform so she knows how to get it done this time. If it ends up being between Obama and McCain in the end, then definitely McCain, even though I don't agree with some of his views.

Our nation is facing too many important issues right now, we don't have time to elect someone that's not ready to go on day one. I know that phrase has been said one too many times but it's definitely Clinton in the primary. She's the most knowledgable on the issues by far, she's had an office in the White House, and she's tried and failed to pass comprehensive health care reform so she knows how to get it done this time. Inspirational speeches is not how I choose my President, especially now (post-9/11, Iraq, and the economy). And if it ends up being between Obama and McCain in the end, then definitely McCain, even though I don't agree with some of his views.

  1. No one bring more experience to the job then Clinton. We need someone who is going to work on the economy from day 1. Remenber the good old clinton years. Well, if you do vote for Clinton.

  1. Yes! I am for higher taxes, increased government spending and an increased social state. I am for Obama (or Clinton or McCain or Romney).

Give me a break. The only candidate that can turn this country around is Ron Paul. He is the only candidate that understands foreign policy, economic policy, monetary policy and will uphold the Constitution.

I suspect the Democrats will run away with this election since the Sheeple will be so fed up with Bush and the Republicans.

  1. What is to become of a country presided over by someone called (Mo)barack husein obama, someone who spent some of the most impressionable years of his life in the largest Moslem country in the world! Don't you know that Mobarak is one of the most common Moslem names and despite so many of these insinuations, Obama has not once called out his faith!

Hard to believe so many of you Americans are really this dumb. Will only help one promote whoever gets nominated as the Republican candidate.

  1. Hillary (daughter of liberal Republican parents) will convert the Republican female vote once the voting curtain closes - while Obama will lose all Republicans and a majority of whites and latino in the privacy of the booth -

  1. I'm pretty ticked off at Bill Belichick and the Patriots right now. If Barack Obama is to carry Massachusetts, he needs a big turn-out.

I'm not assuming the Patriots are going to win on Sunday, but if they do, they should NOT have their parade on Tuesday. This is nothing short of supressing the vote in this state.

Barack Obama's base I believe is under age 40. Are they going to vote on Tuesday if there is a parade? I don't see it. This election is so important and I don't understand why Bill Belichick cannot wait 12 hours to go to a pro-bowl.

Kennedy, Kerry, Patrick - can anyone reach out to the Patriots?

I love the Patriots but voting is critical right now.

  1. Here is the deal

Obama, in my opinion is the best candidate

Obama is the only one who can get past McCain

So all you Clinton fans, like it or not, are going to be very disappointed in November because GOP's will tear her apart.

Get a Democrat in the White House
    VOTE OBAMA

  1. When it comes to experiences vs green, experience should always win. We have given so called "outsider" a chance, and look what happened to this country? Economy is crashing, all the money went to an un-justed war, US is loosing touch with the entire world. We can not afford it one more time. GO Clinton!
