Usher brings Obama a little love
ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Barack Obama brought some star power with him tonight to South Carolina State University, turning to three popular African-American artists to draw students into the basketball arena at this historically black university.
His warm-up acts came straight from the A-list: the singer Usher, the actress Kerry Washington, and the actor Chris Tucker. They walked on stage to deafening cheers. But they were here not as performers, but as recruiters for Saturday's primary.
"Given the fact that there were so many activists who fought for the ability for us to have a voice, I would consider it negligent, I would consider it irresponsible, I would consider it taking it for granted if you don't simply take that opportunity to vote," Usher said. "Because you can make a difference. You do know that, right?"
Fearing the crowd didn't fully get the point, Usher went on. "If you don't use your voice, you didn't make a difference, OK?"
"OK!" they said.
"Are you guys ready to unleash that power?" he asked.
"Yeah!"
"Are you ready for change?"
"Yeah!"
The three celebrities lingered a bit on stage before ceding the spotlight to Obama, who tried to begin his speech while they were still visible. It didn't really work; the students were still enamored. "I’m going to wait until they get outta here," Obama joked. "They might cause a riot."
Obama then delivered a condensed version of his stump speech, including some additional references to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights struggles of the past.

That was an excellent move by Obama's campaign. They brought in a few celebrities to get the people interested and they did.
thats really great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
obama for president 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yung ppl we have to vote to make a change
When will he stop with the speeches and kick in with a priortized agenda that directly addresses the need of the people? Hillary and Mccain and even Edwards have stepped up the game to do so. Where is the plan Obama? You'd have my vote if I could here the certainty of what you can do.
he's pathetic. First, Oprah, now them. Bill Clinton is all you need. Hurry up and concede so that You can become the nation's First Black VP and then after you get experience, the First black President. Sorry O, you need more seasoning. I had respect for you, but now that did work for a slum-lord, you won't get my vote if hell froze over!!!!!!!!!
VOTE OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need a change............

Good move Obamba. Let's hope it works. Shame on you Mr. Barnicle!
He didn't work for a slumlord Mike...you obviously didn't hear his response to that comment during the debates...GOOOO OBAMAAAA!!
I think Obama would make a great president for the United States, this country needs a make over before we become the most hated nation on earth with whats been going on in our unjust history we are very likely to fall from grace, so lets give Obama the chance to rebuild our nation to it's former glory. Besides he can't screw this country up no more than president Bush . Bill was good , Hillary don't quite cut the mustard. Obama can bring the beat back.....President Obama 2008
I respect Hillary but I think she has a hidden agenda and it doesnt have anything to do with helping African Americans. I think its just a bunch of bull. We are in need of a serious change and just because you are 60 or almost 60 doesnt mean that you are more experienced. Well sure she has more life experience because she's about 15 years his senior, but what else does she have. How about universal health casre for all, thats what Obama is preaching. If you want to know about his plans, go to his wed site and it's all laid out there for you. Do some foot work; stop waiting for people to tell you what they're going to do and research it for your self. This is going to be a very interesting journey.
Obama for President!!! Thanks Kisha, obviously Mike walked out the room for tea when Obama gave his response to the slumlord comment. Obama is the only candidate that can bring this nation together. Bill Clinton continues to lie to this country. Remember Monica, how soon do we forget. Hillary continues to state that she has experience, where did she get the experience from, she was not the vice-president. Why didn't the Clinton's talk about Obama when Hillary was leading in the polls? Obama is not trying to become the President for Blacks but for each American. He is giving hope to this nation once again and he is willing to work with World Leaders to attain Peace throughout the World.
Please fact check everything you have HEARD about Obama, instead of letting others sway your opinions. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Our world really needs a change. It is very important that we as a people really take a good look for ourselves as to who we would like to see lead us into the future. I encourage us all to get educated on their issues/ platforms. Knowing what they are saying and if it would be possible to work (not just smoke and mirrors). I'm backing Senator Obama because I believe in him to deliver his best leadership and the fact that he is a black man. I'm not ashamed to say that because his accomplishments speak for themselves. This is a day and time. We are willing to give others a chance. I strongly feel that he is worthy of the job. I hate that he has to work harder at comvince people of his qualifications, only because of the color of his skin. Be heard and VOTE.
Everyone talking about Obama doesnt have enough experience but wait George Bush was suppose to have experience and look at the mess United States in right now. Obama did not make it this far for not being experience. When will our people learn to united instead of divide? It's not about race it's about change what United States need right now! Keep putting the power in the talk abouters instead of the one that's truly about change. I agree with Tammy do the research for yourself and stop letting someone else info influence you. Obama is fierce in knowledge and he has a strong spouse supporting him. Obama keep focus and dont let anyone or anything get you off track.
