Edwards claims underdog role
John Edwards, in his pre-primary TV ad in New Hampshire, embraces the role of underdog and turning it to his populist message, declares, "The real underdogs are the middle class."
Edwards, who is a distant third to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in tracking polls, says in the spot that he knows he's up against two candidates who have raised more than $200 million combined. But he promises, "I will never give up."
The 60-second ad, which is to begin airing Monday, reminds voters of all the key themes of his campaign -- that the middle class is losing out to corporate greed, that replacing corporate Republicans with corporate Democrats in Washington won't bring any change, that it will be an "epic battle" to preserve the middle class, that he is the only candidate who will truly fight on their behalf.

I grew up in middle class/upper middle class Newton and we could still afford college, multimedia, etc. Let's get some perspective. It's the poor who need advocating not those of us who still buying big screen HD TVs, paying $9 to see a movie and eating out at the local pizza joint. And regarding corporate greed, we who are in the middle class still give in to conspicous consumption by spending rather than simplifying.
Where in live in California, I'm surrounded daily by the ridiculous wealth along with the homeless and poor families. So, yes, as much as I'd like to buy a home in this place, I can still pay rent. buy food, and do all the fun activities I want to do. I want our policies to address the "poor, oppressed, the orphan and the widow."
Good luck, John!
The national media won't cover you even after you beat Hillary in Iowa but hopefully the independent streak that runs strong in NH will allow you to live to fight another day. I think it would be great if you beat Hillary in NH. I'd really like to see the media explain to the country how they can still claim that this race is between Obama & Clinton when you've beat her twice.
Elena, a 1200 to even 9000 dollars HDTV is nothing compared to so many thousand of dollars medical bill the you can occur in the blink of an eye if you become sick and lose your job.
I think that both middle class and yes the impoverished need to be advocated for.
If things go the way they are going right now, the middle class will continue to shrink and get bogged down by ridiculous medical bills, lack of jobs, high energy cost... everything that big business is taking from us...
I support John Edwards because I believe he is sincere when he talks about the plight of the middle class.
Middle class means different things to different people. In some areas of the country, a family making $50,000 a year would be doing pretty well. In other areas, they'd be barely skating by. I believe John Edwards will strive to raise up those who fall below the middle class, and to make life more liveable for those of us who are middle class.
I also believe that he is the most electable of all the candidates on the Democratic side. Hillary Clinton is too polarizing and Barack Obama doesn't have enough of a track record to convince me that he is ready for prime time.
I urge all New Hampshire voters in Tuesday's Democratic primary to cast their vote for the true candidate of change. Vote for John Edwards.

NO more-
Hillary Clinton dynasty,
John McCain's Politics of Fear,
John Edward's Politics of Convenience,
Corrupted Health Industry.
ITS SICKENING.
!!! ITS TIME FOR CHANGE !!!
Hillary Clinton and John Edwards Voted for War on Iraq.
Barack Obama opposed this and he was right.
Hillary Clinton supported Bush on aid to Pakistan for wrong reasons.
Barack Obama opposed this and he was right.
John Edwards is using populist theme for convenience in this election and is a big hypocrite.
Remember that John Edwards was a Trial Lawyer, worked for a Hedge Fund Company and has 28000 sq ft mansion and $1200 hair cuts.
Barack Obama is a community organizer from the beginning and is honest person and refused to be a Trial Lawyer.
BARACK OBAMA's JUDGEMENT TRIUMPHS OVER HILLARY CLINTON'S WRONG EXPERIENCE.
BARACK OBAMA'S HONESTY TRIUMPHS OVER JOHN EDWARDS'S HYPOCRISY.
BARACK OBAMA'S POLITICS OF HOPE TRIUMPHS OVER JOHN MCCAIN'S POLITICS OF FEAR.
!!! VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA !!!
Anyone who thinks the middle class is the underdog has some serious issues.
What about, say, the lower class?
John Edwards and John Kerry were swift boated by the current ruler of the USa and we have seen yhe color of his teeth. John Edwards is on the same theme as he was four years ago. John Edwards is trying to reach our sub conscience and has proven it by leaving politics and working for the poor.
* I was once an Industrial Engineer and Know what its like to be without work.
More than not having the money for material stuff i feel that my mind, my creativity, and my desire to motivate kids to do better is disappearing.
Just how can we expect them to excel in an unproductive society.
Surely war will not give them the spirit to read the great novels, excel in literary and scientific challenges that have made this country great.. Vote for John Edwards.

I agree with Edwards that the middle class is in serious trouble in this country. We have been hypnotized into thinking that if we can afford to buy an LCD TV or have a cell phone then we are living fine. It's called Latte prosperity. Meanwhile more people all the time are seeing their jobs sent overseas or can't understand why they are struggling to make ends meet on a "good" salary. It's because even though they can go to Wal Mart and buy cheap consumer goods from China, their real buying power for things like homes, medical expenses and college tuition and energy costs has been continually shrinking for the last 3 decades under Dems and Rebublicans. This IS due to policies that have give Laissez-faire capitalist free reign to do whatever they want no matter what it does to the country.

Lets get Hillary in there. Her husband closed military bases to "balance the budget", and left us understaffed for the current war. Maybe she will cut the rest of military funding so we can have a balanced budget again, and have the war here so we don't have to travel so far. Then, apparently, the world will like us again. How happy for us!
Obama should use his middlename - 'Hussain', which he doesn't. What is he trying to hide?.. that his father was muslim? So what he was muslim?
Obama is a total hypocrite.
He is just hungry for power and would say anything to get the nomination. Obama, if nominated, does not stand a chance against Huckabee or McCain.

John Edwards started his campaign with a poverty tour. If you want to complain about the guy at least know what you're talking about. The middle class is BECOMING impoverished but Edwards is the ONLY candidate who has focused on poverty in America in this campaign.
Not only is John fighting for us against them and big money but he also has to fight the media blackout imposed upon his campaign.
Grrrrr… Go get em John
John Edwards is the most viable candidate in the democratic party to beat a republican in Nov. Sure, Obama and Clinton have star power (shhhh! because they are a black man and a woman) and don't forget Oprah. I say Edwards/Obama is the winning ticket. Combined, they've got enough experience. But not too much to be corrupt (Clinton). Also, Edwards can capture the southern /rural/heartland vote (important) and Obama would capture, the right/left coast liberals, young people, women, and the black vote. Together, they could do alot of good and turn this country around.
The media companys are not giving John Edwards the coverage due him. Why? Who are the media big wigs backing? Are they aware that Obama and Clinton will loose the election to a Republican if they win the primary? But John would win against a Republican.
Are news media conglomerates considered "big business"? Do they have lobbyists in Washington?
Gee, maybe the news reporting isn't trustworthy, but rather, biased and with an agenda to get the Republicans to remain in control of the country.
