Edwards looks to New Hampshire

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor January 3, 2008 10:18 PM

John Edwards claimed second place in the caucuses, though the numbers were still too close to call between him and Hillary Clinton.

"The status quo lost and change won," he told supporters. "And now we move on, we move on from Iowa to New Hampshire."

He said Iowa voters showed that Americans responding to his message of standing up against corporate greed and for the middle class.

  1. John Edwards is right. He is the only Democratic candidate speaking the truth about special interests, lobbyists and big corporate money. We want our country back.

  1. Obama is wonderful but can he carry the solid south. I think Edwards is right about being the only Democrat with a drawl that may carry the redneck red staes.

  1. I couldn't agree more about Edwards. He is a progressive populist from the South, and that matters a lot. He can compete everywhere. He has the best ideas and is the most electable. I'm not sure what else we need in a Democratic candidate.

Obama and Clinton are fine. But if you want to turn some red states blue this year, Edwards is the guy with the best chance to do it.

  1. I agree that edwards is the only Deomcrat that can beat the top Republicans. Hillary and Obama may be great with the far left, but centrist democrats, particularly in the South, ar not going to vote for either of them.

I would also like to note that the Boston Globe is one of the few mainstream news outlets that is giving fair coverage to Edwards.

The TV outlets particularly are trying to pick the candidates for us. they ignore the fact that Edwards finished ahead of Hillary in Iowa and insist on trying to freeze Edwards out. It is shameful. they are ignoring their duty to report the news (and not try to direct it one way or the other).

I think that edwards is the only candidate tthat can affect real, positive change. I hope that the Globe continues to give him the coverage that the American people deserve.
