A bushel of new polls out this morning all agree -- it's a two-man race in the Florida Republican primary on Tuesday between John McCain and Mitt Romney.
Rudy Giuliani, who staked his candidacy on a win in Florida, is instead battling for a distant third place with Mike Huckabee.
In one representative survey, Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby says that McCain leads Romney 33 percent to 30 percent. Giuiliani was at 14 percent and Huckabee at 11 percent, according to the poll, which was conducted Friday through Sunday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
A Quinnipiac University survey gave McCain a 32 percent to 31 percent lead over Romney, with Giuliani at 14 percent and Huckabee at 13 percent.

where is Ron Paul - mainstream media doesnt even mention him.
what a country - what a mess
Rudy Giuliani's political career is over. You can't hope to win the Republican nomination as a conservative if you are not a conservative. See "Rudy Giuliani's Conservative Remake" at Youtube.

Romney for President in 2008
Be wise Florida. Vote for Romney. He has the economic experience to help our economy. He will listen to our generals on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. He has good solid moral values. John McCain alienates portions of the Republican party and has a terrible tendency to support liberal things at times. (such as the amnesty bill, opposing the federal marriage amendment, opposing the Bush tax cuts, etc.) Romney will unite the conservative base as social conservatives, economic and fiscal conservatives and security hawks can all find an appealing candidate in Romney.
Sadly, our former POW hero is stooping to unbelievable new lows. And voting for him will ultimately be a vote for Billary Clinton(s). Why? Because he would be the oldest president — and he is out of money — and he is far too liberal to get beyond Florida with real GOP voters elsewhere — AND because he vigorously promoted AMNESTY, OPPOSED the Bush tax cuts, and sided with liberals in Congress whenever he thought it suited him politically! He won’t admit to being liberal — but I guarantee you he is the polar opposite of conservative. If you can’t vote for the real economic genius, Romney, then don’t — but don’t vote for McCain, who has taken to lying through his ’straight talk’ teeth!! None of his recent allegations vs. his opponents are truthful. It is SO sad to see a Vietnam war hero debase himself to these low levels. Whoever is advising his campaign should be fired now — and given lessons in party loyalty AND basic economics.
McCain would not do anything to help florida if elected. He is a traitor to the Republican party. It was too bad Governor Crist endorsed someone who doesn't even share his beliefs on the most important issues to florida. Floridians will choose Romney because they can see right through McCain's so called "Straight talk." Romney is a true conservative. HE HAS NEVER FLIPP-FLOPPED ON ANY ISSUE. McCain needs to look up the definition. Flip flopping requires changing positions more than once. Romney is a convert to social conservatism just like Reagan and Bush Sr. McCain on the other hand, has flip-flopped on many poistions, most importantly on tax cutting and what political party he wants to be a member of.
vote romney 2008, he is the most qualified to lead the country. Visit Mittromney.com and look under issues to see why.
When will the media take a statistics course and realize that 33 is not a lead over 30 when you have a 3.4% margin of error. Reporting 32 is a lead over 31 is even worse.
Ron Paul is at 3% mostly university students
ron paul has 9 percent, thats pretty rad for a libertarian.
Time to quit Rudy.Your a dictator. Can I call you dic for short ?
Ron Paul is insane. Get a clue
I like McCain, but his is totally nuts about the war in Iraq. We are spending 171 Billion dollars a year on that nightmare, and I have not heard any plan to deal with the situation intelligently from either he or Lieberman but "stay the course". They are out of their minds. The entire Gulf War cost the US Treasury $10B.
Of course, it would probably go badly if we just got up and left. But what is the plan? Staying the course for "10,000 years" as McCain has said? It will bankrupt us.
I cannot vote for a man who is this crazily stubborn.
Why do people online keep asking for Ron Paul? I pay attention to him at the debates and all he does is criticize the ideas of his colleagues without offering alternatives. He offers vague ideas, but since he mentions the constitution in every other sentence people like him. I'm not trying to be mean, but seriously, what is it about this guy? Even after visiting his web site and listening to countless supporters on YouTube, I have no idea about him. What is he going to do for America? I do agree that Giuliani is over. When they dinged him for being pro-choice, he ran so far to the right that he scared off independents and liberals. We're down to two candidates on each side.
Neither is McCain a Conservative. He plays his own game viciously and does not represent the interests of Conservatives - though some are duped to vote for him.
As Gen. MacArthur said, "old soldiers never die, they just fade away..". Wouldn't it be nice if the old warrior McCain just faded away to a Soldiers and Sailors Home somewhere?
Well, ... I won't ask "Where's Ron Paul?". ... But somebody should.
We really need Huckabee. It's time to do away with the IRS.
ron paul and dennis kucinich or even john edwards had a sensible message.but its only the mediocre that seem to succeed.what a shame.
Romney won't win.......Mormon shmormon
where's ron paul? it's so sad that when i mention ron paul to most people they say "i thought he dropped out". i wonder why they would think that. as a reader of your paper it would be appreciated if ALL candidates running were included in your polls and articles. there are FIVE candidates left and ron paul has gotton more votes overall than giuliani.
Romney will be the winner.... and eventually the GOP candidate.
Watch out communists!!!! (Hillary or Obama).
It is annoying to have to do the math to get how many people would vote for Paul. It would 12% of republicans for none of the candidates above. I assume minimally 11% are for Ron Paul thus tieing Huckabee. If we are lucky Paul will beat Giuiliani thus gaining big media attention(maybe) for super Tuesday. I would never vote for Paul but he is by far the most interesting candidate and I find the media's blackout of information about him is very curious.
Are any of them Conservative?????
guilani is done, yeah, he is a dangerous philanderer and cant say good morning without bringing up "9/11" he speeches have been pathetic, self-serving; remember he turned tradegy into a business (consulting for enemy countries, drug manufacturers, anyone with a dollar) and has so many skeletons in the closet that he makes heath ledger look good.
It will be a two man race going forward Romney vs McCain.
I will NOT vote for McCain too liberal on too many vital issues for me.
It would be great to see Romney ask Giuliani to be his VP that would sinch the deal for me.
Two great leaders one who KNOWS how to run the economy the other knows how to fight terrorists.
Romney/Giuliani 2008 sounds great spread the word!!!!!
Hey Boston Globe, thanks for not mentioning Ron Paul. This makes it easier to choose my favorite if you guys eliminate one for me. Thinking for myself is really tough, so I hope you all keep fighting the good fight and don't allow us voters to be skewed by his message of facts and logic. Yay!
Religion is important. The Mormon faith is not only anti christian, but it goes against the very principle on which Christianity was founded. Mormons believe that they too can become as God is. Their saying, "as man is, God once was. As God is, man may become, is clear evidence that they are polythiest, or believe in more than one God. 2 Nephi declares that my black skin was indeed a curse from GOd himself. Do I want my President believeing that I am cursed because I am black or African American? No. I believe he is sincere, but his faith excludes him from the Presidency in my opinion.
