To the best of McCain's economic knowledge
During the Republican debate last night on MSNBC, moderator Tim Russert asked candidate John McCain about his previous comments that he didn't know as much about economics as he did about other issues. McCain's answer suggested he had never made such a comment. In fact he did so as recently as December, as the Globe's Sasha Issenberg reported at the time.
Here's the exchange from the debate transcript last night:
RUSSERT: National security, the war in Iraq had been the dominant issue in the campaign until a few weeks ago. And now the economy has taken hold. Ask any of the voters; it's the economy. Senator McCain, you have said repeatedly, quote, I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated. Is it a problem for your campaign that the economy is now the most important issue, one that by your own acknowledgment you're not well versed on?
MCCAIN: Actually, I don't know where you got that quote from. I'm very well versed in economics. I was there at the Reagan revolution. I was there when we enacted the first -- or just after we enacted the first tax cuts and the restraints on spending.
But Issenberg quoted McCain as telling reporters on December 17 in New Hampshire: "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should," McCain said. "I've got Greenspan's book."
Here's the link to Issenberg's account, which appeared on the Boston Globe's campaign blog, Political Intelligence, on December 18.

you have gotta be kidding me, ron paul ask him a very straight forward question, mccain's opinion on the president's group on financial markets. mccain has absolutely NO CLUE of what it is. rudy was just stand there, elated that the question was not for him.
No wonder the New York Times loves McCain! He's totally inept!
This is the same reason Republicans like Gingrich and Rove are praising Hilary... behind the scenes they're laughing the same way the Globe/NYT must giggle when they endorse McCain!
MCCAIN IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR. I actually saw his comments that he knew little about the economy several weeks ago in the Seattle Times (another liberal rag by the way that is pushing McCain). Additionally he tried to laugh it off by saying he was reading Greenspans books. His answers (unless Romney went first and he could ape them) showed no knowledge of economic issues.
Compare that with Mitt Romney who learned all the "book larnin'" at Harvard and then applied his economic knowledge to turn around State Economy, Bain Capital, Staples and the Olympics. On economics, want it fixed, vote Romney!!!
MCCAIN IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR who did it again today. Seeing his lead slipping away (Mitt is ahead in the most recent poll in Florida) he decided to get nasty and try to divert the focus of voters away from Mitt's economics superiority back to the war but did it by LYING about Mitt's stand. This sartyr actually stooped so low as to say Romney favors giving a date for withdrawal. I have heard MR in person on the subject and that is the furthest thing from the truth.
McCain is extrapolating this from Mitt's passing commment that he agrees with Gen. Patraeus assessment that we can now be looking at moving our troops in Iraq into a more supervisory roll.
WE DON'T NEED A LIAR IN THE WHITE HOUSE--LIKE MCCAIN!!
With the economy in trouble we need Mitt!!! FIX IT MITT!!! FIX IT MITT!!! FIX IT MITT!!
Russert Got cha' and caught ya' in one of your many lies Johnny boy!!
Way to score Russert!!
buy world of warcraft gold here, we sell cheap world of warcraft gold. All kinds of world of warcraft gold news and world of warcraft gold videos here .
Please refrain from using terms if you don't know what they mean...your description of Mccain as a pathological liar is humorous to me! And I am not saying he is or is not...I just don't have the psychology background to assess him...as is apparent neither do you.LOL
Economists study problems related to production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. The populace is attentive to economists in proportion to its need for and the scarcity of a good or service. Just now, in June 2008, transportation fuel is the category of good that captures most attention. The assessment of John McCain as being more knowledgeable about military and foreign policy issues than about economic issues is borne out by his limited response thus far to escalating costs of transportation fuel, that is, to eliminate the Federal excise taxes during the 2008 driving season. Professional economists, who uphold the law of supply and demand, have been quick to deride McCain's proposal as useless, in that, artificially lowering the cost would not address the underlying problem. Economists would tell us, in other words, that we can only reduce transportation fuel prices by some combination of increased production and decreased consumption.
JOHN McCAIN’S 3R ECONOMIC PLAN 2008
Abbreviated version
Progressive Republican Candidate John McCain comes through for America with his 3R economic plan. In the persona of Theodore Roosevelt, McCain’s plan just makes sense.
NUTS AND BOLTS of the plan are simple.
The US needs a separate tax revenue source before it can move away from fossil energy fuels which supply hundreds of billions of dollars in taxes for state and federal agencies.
Here is the John McCain 3R solution.
McCain’s 3R is about technical, closely monitored and rapid hands on training from pros to create new pros. Thousands of currently-job-displaced “once leaders in the manufacturing arena” will be asked to train and play instructor rolls in the 3R plan.
Paid, of course, as these new leaders will help create a whole new style of prosperous America. A massive restructure providing thousands of new American MFG companies means millions of new jobs for infrastructure alone.
1. RETHINK: America must see globally on what America is capable of in our current state of technology, engineering and meet the demands that face the world.
“RE-Think” the basic job goals involve the dwindling retirement, health care and social security plans that are failing Americans. With a strong base and a higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) America has a new bargaining chip in the way we live and the ways we retire.
Private Sector framework is in place and current laws allow the 3R to happen. The Progressive attitude of John McCain to get things done by crossing party lines will resurrect America.
2. REFORM: The American people must demand higher quality products and less restricted trade routes for Made in USA components. We will lead the way of MFG again!
The USA will reform its dead manufacturing base to create the most innovative and green-engineered products possible. We will compete in a world market along with other high quality products. Our Private Sector teams are making this reality now.
3. REINVENT: America and Americans must reinvent themselves to reach and maintain these standards and by sheer American ingenuity, control the world’s marketplace in the competitive manner, as the USA has always been proud to be #1.
Americans are going back to McCain’s 3R-schooling program where they are paid to reinvent their skills and learn new skills to design and lead their personal LLC, Corporation or joint venture company. That’s easy enough to comprehend and just as easy to implement.
The 3R plan is designed as a six-month rapid advancement system. Graduates may return for additional skill enhancements from time to time, or step up after new advanced training in executive management.
New jobs are the mainstay for Creating a new guard for Social Security.
While manufacturing is a very important part of this plan, thousands of other new businesses must to be created to meet the new surge of 3R manufacturing industries to create a new era of prosperous Americans.
Initial estimates of 1 in 5 students will begin his or her own company and drive even more Americans into a viable lifestyle with real jobs, real benefits and a retirement to look forward to.
This 3R plan will be done without costing taxpayers (or the government) additional funds. America has the means to follow through with John McCain’s 3R plan, ready and in place across the USA. The buildings we need sit vacant for the most part. By assuming leases on abandoned stores and factories across America with MC-3R schools and mini-manufacturing training centers, the USA made products can be sold and support the stores. Building owners write off the loss in taxes over a few years if they donate the space!
This is the new place for financial speculators to invest!
The speculators who first drove the economy with mortgage investments and most recently with crude oil investments have a better arena for their investments. America as nation of industrious individuals who want to work and want to succeed will make them huge profits. The supply of eager Americans with ideas and dreams to prosper is limitless.
Although the thousands of new businesses manufacturing USA Made products is exciting enough, the real excitement comes from the massive amount of additional jobs that will be created to provide the new housing, new buildings, new parks, shopping, grocery stores, schools, government outlets and so much more.
McCain’s Progressive nature embodies Theodore Roosevelt more than any US presidential candidate in history since the original Rough Rider blazed the greatest era of growth in America.
We need John McCain to lead our nation with the same type of change.
