Michigan congressman vouches for Romney

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor January 10, 2008 11:46 AM

Mitt Romney, who appears to be all-in in Michigan, started a new radio ad today that features one of his most prominent supporters in the state.

In the spot (listen to it here), Congressman Pete Hoekstra and his wife Diane say that Romney will cut taxes, lower spending, and create jobs -- a huge issue in the economically depressed state. They also vouch for Romney's Michigan connections.

"Governor Mitt Romney represents the values that are important to us," Diane Hoekstra says. "He will fight for the unborn and traditional marriage."

"Mitt Romney’s values are Michigan values," Pete Hoekstra chimes in.

"They ought to be, he grew up right here, in Michigan," his wife says.

Romney's campaign has suspended advertising in South Carolina and Florida to focus on Michigan, whose primary next Tuesday could mark the end of Romney's presidential bid if he doesn't win.

  1. Michigan voters, please note the following and weigh out your decision:

If Mike Huckabee had made racial comments about a leading black candidate or
sexist comments about a leading female candidate, he would have been
castigated by the media. How he was able to launch his surge with religious
bigotry is dumbfounding to me. It seems that everyone is oblivious to the
    obvious.

In the event that Mitt Romney does not win the nomination, then history will
show that Mike Huckabee pulled off the political crime of the century. It
was Mike Huckabee that raised religious issues among Iowa evangelicals by
    comments toward Romney's religion.

As Huckabee's tactics started to show in the Iowa polls, Mitt responded with
his "Faith in America" speech. Romney was then forced to work on damage
control. Romney's efforts in Iowa payed off and he continued to rise back in
the polls but the damage gave him a second in a state he held firmly until
Huckabee's misuse of the public forum.

McCain saw his window and concentrated on New Hampshire while Romney was being unduely "occupied" in Iowa. Romney was forced to agressively address things detracting from what his positive messaging had been and did so
famously. Romney then relied on comparison ads to contrast differences.
These ads were constantly referred to as "attack ads" by Huckabee, who
continually portrayed him as "desperate", and "attacking".

Now Huckabee is able to capitalize on such tactics. Because of his use of
the majority evangelical state of Iowa and with the ignorance of the media
toward the Mormon religion, he flew under the radar of a nation that has
worked since Lincoln to erase such bigotry.

A majority of the nation now sees only that Mike Huckabee won the Iowa
caucus and that John McCain won New Hampshire but know little of this back story. I think it important to present it. Observe for yourself and pass these perspectives along. We need a TRUE man for change and a proven record of turning things around in the oval office.

Romney is leading in delegate count.

    Vote Mitt Romney

  1. It would be sad if Romney lost, given that he leads the popular vote overall for the three states so far and has the most delegates.

Romney is the best qualified leader we have, and in my opinion, McCain is unelectable. He did well with Independents, but does not represent Republicans adequately. I don't think I can vote for him any more than Giuliani.

  1. ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!! Never took a paycheck as Governor, or in the Olympics, has vowed to donate his income as president to charity. The ONLY candidate that will beat the Democrats, and the best leader for our nation.

Mitt won the debates here and is the only one who clearly expresses his views and plan for the future. Please support Mitt Romney!! He has the best chance to win the Presidency against the Democrats.

  1. Michigan voters: Mike Huckabee is not a bigot or a religious fanatic. He just knows that America needs to recover its religious (not Christian) underpinnings. He is not a Mormon hater. It is the media that made a mountain out of a molehill to generate controversy like they always do.

Mitt Romney cannot win. The people do not want a man for whom money is so important as to salt away $250 million in his own bank account. Capitalism without conscience is killing this country. All those arguments that others defeated Romney is bunk. He defeated himself by demeaning others instead of standing for something uplifting other than platitudinous generalities.

  1. WONDERFUL!
Mitt Romney is indeed the best qualified for the challenges confronting our beloved country. He is arguably the best material for the Republic to win the presidency.
I hope fellow Republicans will soon come together and support his campaign.
    He has executive experience,
    He has exhibited moral judgment with strength in family values;
He shown great heart for this country with his stance on illegal immigration, economic challenges pose by China....
He is simply very presidential even under attack as he presents his side of the argument so concisely and gracefully!
MITT ROMNEY YOU ARE THE BEST!

  1. Michigan comes from the Indian word meaning 'Great Lake'....I grew up in Arizona and as a child in school the 'Great Lakes' made you a state of importance. You are also a state of importance politically....Please dear 'Great' state of Michigan...please take the time to study the truhs and example of Mitt Romney as he strives to lead as President of the 'United' States. Please give him your support and believe that he will not let Michigan fail to be 'great' . It's such a media war and such a time of rumour and ugly words, when the end result must be a leader who loves this nation enough to stand up for it and for righteous values and a leader whom we should support and pray for daily. We are such a blessed country....lead the way Michigan and be proud to cast a vote for Mitt Romney...with your total support as he will take on the huge job of pulling us back on track...as we are willing to go back on track. We are fifty states 'united'....God bless this country with wisdom and judgement and then faith and works. Go Mitt! Stand Up Michigan!

  1. Kelly,
Thank you for pointing out what a bigot Huckabee is. The media has totally ignored his comment about Mitt Romney's religion. Can you imagine the other way around?? The media seems more occupied with Hillary crying or comments made about her dress than this bold faced religious bigotry.
The media is writing Romney's Presidency off. Why? I believe because he is the ONLY candidate who will really change Washington and improve the lives of all Americans. Are the other candidates and media really looking for a real change? Maybe they want America to remain the same, such as: Lobbyists deciding on issues; illegal aliens invading our country; out sourcing of jobs to China....
Mitt Romney is the only candidate in either party who will bring economic stablity,
healthcare, stop goverment waste and strengthen this country to the glory in which it should shine.
By the way, I was a Democrat most of my life until I switched to be an Independant many years ago. If Mitt Romney becomes President, I would be proud to register
    as a Republican.
Mitt Romney is the only one who can and will change Washington for the better..

  1. Romney is America and the world's best hope. He is so brilliant, analytical, successful in everything he's ever done. He is a decent, stable family man. Took no salary for running the Olympics or as governor. He has turned around failing businesses, organizations, and states. We need our best, and he's it!

Huckabee is a know-nothing and tries to cover it up with a joke. That will not work in the real world. He uses his religion like a weapon--not Christlike, in my opinion. He has bad judgment--pardoned/commuted 1,033 convicted criminals including 12 murderers now walking the streets. That's one every four days. He raised taxes 47% during his tenure. He favors open borders, wanted to give in-state tuition to illegals. He had 17 ethics violations filed against him for funneling money his way, primarily. Had to pay fines. Tried to take $70,000 worth of furniture from the governor's mansion when they moved out, had to give it back. State ethics rules bar gifts over $100 except for wedding gifts, so he and his wife (married 28 years) signed on to wedding registries all over the state. Can you say "white trash"?

Huckabee appears amiable, is a witty and able speaker, but we need a lot more than that in this dangerous world. (Actually, in Arkansas he was known to be thin-skinned and vengeful according to most who worked with him.) We need our A-game, and Huckabee ain't it, folks.

Romney is the man! TV's Jim Kramer says on a great YouTube video that Romney is the best businessman in America. We need him running the economy, not some comedic goober. People, these are the big leagues. Support Mitt!

  1. Huckabee has played the religion card often and has managed to keep the spotlight off his own pro-tax agenda and lack of business or legal training and experience. What bothers me the most is how Huckabee tries to have it both ways. He subversively attacks Mitt Romney's religion and then claims that he is running a positive campaign. John McCain is pompous and childish as evidenced in his snide personal attacks in the last debate (not to mention his bigotry including his mother's condemnation of Mormons and his own borderline remarks over the years). McCain touts his fiscal responsibility and yet he voted against the Bush tax cuts and he couldn't even run his own campaign without bankrupting it. He also has a terrible record on illegal immigration. How anyone can honestly consider him as a real candidate is beyond me. Mitt Romney is the only one with the executive experience that is needed for the Presidency.

  1. Mitt Romney is the man for the job. His vision, experience, and leadership is just what America needs right now. No other cannidate can claim the values that he not only believes in, but lives. Look at his family, look at his record as a Governor, look at how he saved the 2002 Olympics, look at his education, look at his business experience; no other cannidate compares when you look at what they have accomplished and what they will.
Mike Huckabee was a Governor and a Pastor. That is it. His record as both is disturbing. He does not represent me, the Republican party, or America.
I write today for Mitt Romney, the man , I believe, that he can lead America to the best tomorrow.

  1. #7 David:
Mike Huckabee went to the Southern Baptist Convention held in Salt Lake City in 1998, the headquarters of the LDS Church, and, as the keynote speaker, told Mormons they were going to hell if they did not convert to the Baptist Church. His claims of not knowing much about Mormonism is a bunch of baloney. Further, he tells 12,000,000 people that they do not believe in Christ, or at least the Christ that he believes in. Myself, I would call that bigotry. And if his comments during the Iowa caucus is any indication, he will, once again, play the religion card in Michigan, just like he did in Iowa. Without FEC/IRS violations, using the pulpit on Sundays to pimp Huckabee’s candidacy, he probably would not have won in Iowa.

  1. Here is the sad and pathetic truth.

Mitt Romney won NH amongst Conservatives 38 to 31 percent. McCain won amongst low income areas and liberals voting as "Fake Republicans" in OUR primary.

McCain may win MI for the same reason. Democrats in "sheeps clothing" voting for the MOST LIBERAL candidate in our primary due to the INSANE OPEN PRIMARY rules.

So, basically we could see Mitt Romney, our GREATEST HOPE for victory in the Fall, taken out of the race by Christian Liberals in Iowa and Liberal Independents in NH and MI.

    Sad and just wrong.

  1. I believe Mitt Romney is the most capable, intelligent, family-focused leader we have in America. Our country is at a cross-roads given the debates over family values, the sanctity of life, the size of government and a host of other issues. We need a leader who will breathe new life into not just our economy but into our moral fabric - who will establish this great country once again as the leader of the free world - as the leader of human decency, as the leader of religious tolerance, and as the strongest economic force in the world; a country who will use this economic power to help underprivileged people throughout the world. Mitt Romney is a leader who will act on principle, not out of a need to be popular, who has the experience and the creative genius to bring people of both political parties together to accomplish our most urgent priorities. Mitt Romney has proven that he, with the help of a broad-based coalition of caring Americans, can lead us through the terror of terrorism and bring peace once again not just to this country but to deserving nations around the world. One man can accomplish what must be done - Mitt Romney. God bless America and her inspired leaders.

  1. Mitt Romney is a beacon and a lower light. He has put in a great effort in money and time in order to serve. Huckabee and his group came to a salt Lake convention with swords drawn and distributed anti Mormon literature all over the city. They were welcomed in and their effort fizzled out like a bad firecracker. Romney is our man, no doubt about it.

I even had to turn off Fox News because Carl cameron was so negitave to Mitt. I have 8 sisters and brothers in different states and I have convinced 3 to change to Mitt. Two are lost souls (Dems) . But the others when they realize ole Huck is not the conservitive we need. Please vote Mitt so the people in the other states get he chance to voice our choice. GO MITT. 1. Why does the media keep pronouncing that he 'lost' in Iowa and New Hampshire? Where I come from (NH), we don't consider 2nd out of 6 a loss. A cynic might think it's because the media is afraid of candidate who has his own resources and who kowtows to no-one. That's certainly why the other candidates piled on at last Saturday's debate. They don't like a party outsider with his own money invading their little club. If Romney doesn't win the Republican nomination and the general election, America will have let a golden opportunity slip through its fingers.

  1. It is really really sad to see how Mitt Romney was being attacked by all sides mainly because of his religion. I wish the media was balanced. We've heard of why many people are illiterate in the Middle East were easily swayed and brainwashed into dying for their terrorist activities while here we have as many people who should know better about Huckabee and McCain. Watching the last debate in NH proved why Huck and John are like little kids with personal attacks on Mitt. Mitt is a humble man who didn't buy the votes but spent lots of money for name recognition. He earned his living from hard work with a great education background. Huckabee never finished seminary and John graduated at the bottom of his millitary class. They are the true examples of bigotry, hypocrite and envy. If Mitt loses many people will either regret their decisions or their hatred, bigotry and ignorance will haunt them later. Now that he's free to do certain things his way, I think the undecided voters will see a different Mitt. Mitt Romney is best candidate to face Obama or Clinton.

He may be misguided and gravely mistaken in his positions, but that's a far cry from a traitor - especially for someone with his war record. Kerry, well, that's a different matter...

  1. When you get past the rhetoric, spurious drivel and disinformation promoted by the media, Mitt Romney is rock solid. He will emerge as not only a great President, but one of the greatest this country, and the world, has ever seen. No one else could possibly take on the challenges and serious problems our country faces and actually succeed with all of the necessary positive changes. Any other candidate will do more harm than good. For a wake up call, everyone should read my new book: "PIPM Ultimatum" by Brad Tew.

He wins the debates by a landslide and is the only one that comes across with any dignity and clear visions of what he will do. Why do the press only focus on how the other candidates are hard on him instead of mentioning how their childish barbs fall flat. I just hope and pray that the voters in Michigan will see through it all and give Mitt their vote so he can continue to fight for the nomination. Go Mitt!!

  1. I live in Canada, and have been watching your election coverage daily, and with incredible interest. I feel like I’m watching the Stanley Cup playoffs, it’s seriously that exciting for me. Whoever the next US president is will affect much here in Canada. And I have to say, I just don’t get how anyone can cast their vote for anyone but Romney. I’m consevative yes, but seriously, Hillary? After Bill’s baloney? I respect Obama enough, but let’s let the good guys win:) Romney is the guy who could help fix your economy, has decent moral values, and has shown that he can get things done, Olympics, health care for Massachusetts, the list goes on and on. I constantly hear people trying to brand him as a flip flopper - as far as I can tell, the only one worth mentioning is abortion, and he ended up going to the good side of that one, so why complain? What, like nobody has ever changed their mind as they got older and wiser?

Mike Huckabee scares the living crap out of me. If ever there was a guy I don’t trust, he’s the one. He may have a little charisma, but I just don’t see any substance behind it. A man of character I just don’t see. These constant religious barbs have no place in politics. It’s clear that the liberal media wants Romney gone, I think they know he’s their biggest threat. Huckabee, now touted in the news at the front runner, this is the guy who went before the ethics commission what, 14 times? I just don’t trust him and his anti-Mormon rhetoric and jabs about Mitt having money. Romney may be rich, but doesn’t that tell you something? The guy knows how to be successful! Bain capital, the Olympics, getting stuff done in heavily liberal Massachusetts, and let’s not forget that deal where he flew most of his company to New York to search for a girl at what I’m sure was great expense. He’s the only guy in the race who hasn’t been divorced. He clearly is devoted to Ann and his family. Now he wants to help the country, without pay, like he did in MA, like he did with the Olympics. No heart? Not genuine? Come on, supporters of the no-can-wins. Get behind the only guy who could give the Dems a run for their money in November. I see in almost every story about Romney - 99% of which have headlines such as “Romney should pack it in” type of things (Clearly, the liberal media just don’t want him as the candidate) attacks on his being Mormon. Mormons are about as devoted to God as you’re ever going to see - they don’t drink coffee, tea, booze, they don’t smoke, they don’t do premarital sex or even swear much (at least they’re not supposed to) and dozens of other things that they adhere to because they feel that these things are displeasing to God. So he has a different take on the Trinity, big deal. So many religions disagree on certain points, is it really that big of a problem that he has a slightly different point of view on something that really makes no difference in dealing with Iraq, the economy, or health care, or really anything poitical. Strong moral convictions, with, like as has been mentioned, strong committment to family. You want a guy who will be steadfast and constant, there’s your guy, and not just because he’s Mormon.

McCain, I respect his service to his country and all, but I just don’t think he’s the guy to lead right now. All he really has to offer is military, as far as I can tell, and according to the exit polls, the economy is what’s on everybody’s #1 list. I just don’t get New Hampshire, they say they want the economy fixed, they say they know that Romney’s the guy to do it, according to the CNN exit polls, and then they vote for McCain because they like him better. So let’s vote for the guy who we want to be buddies with, instead of the guy who can fix the problem we need fixed - I just don’t get it.

I think Ron Paul has some interesting ideas, but I don’t think the majority of the people are going to go for it. Forgive me for saying so, I’m sure I’ll be beaten on and all for saying this, but in the end, I mean the real end game of the primaries is to pick a guy who can beat whoever the Democrats throw at you, isn’t it? Ron Paul can’t do it, I feel bad for the guy, becuase I do think he has some interesting perspectives on a few points, but he can’t beat Obama or Hillary, too many people think he’s not viable, and it shows in the votes. Fred Thompson I really want to like, but he doesn’t appear to have any steam in him. Giuliani has too many skeletons in the closet. Romney as far as I can tell doesn’t have any. Supposed flipping? That’s the best you’ve got? Didn’t McCain change his views on stuff between the summer and now? Romney has a better delegate count right now, and I was genuinely saddened to see that he didn’t get his gold in Iowa or NH. That he did win gold in Wyoming (Which has a higher delegate count than NH) isn’t even mentioned, like it didn’t matter. I think the media is trying to kill of Romney’s campaign, and it’s a darn shame. I hope the voters in Michigan, where his dad did some great things, will be in his corner. I mean, if you’re trying to pick a guy who can beat the Democrats after 8 years of Bush (and I actually like Bush, but do realize that much of America does not) then to vote for someone who could never do it (Huckabee, McCain, Paul, Thompson and in my opinion, even Rudy, although I’m sure he’ll take New York from the Democrats given the chance) isn’t it kind of wasting your vote? Don’t vote for the guy you “like”, vote for the guy who can actually do the job you’re voting him to be in position for! (Unless of course you “like” Romney, then by all means go for it…I look at him and I see a guy who can get the job done, no matter what the job entails. He is a proven fix it guy.)

I know I’m just a Canadian with not enough to do except check the polls three times a day to see how Mitt’s doing, but I really hope that the super Tuesday swings towards Mitt. I am afraid SC is going to Huchabee, because of the evangelical vote, but hopefully Michigan goes to Romney and has him going into Feb. with the lead in delegate votes.

Plus, I happen to think Stephen Harper, our PM (another guy who does what he says - said he’d shave two points off the national sales tax inside of a year, and he did it, among dozens of other things) and Romney would get some great things done for North America. Mitt, don’t you listen to the media or the people who for whatever reason are pushing for McCain and Huckabee - you’re the only person I want to see leading the US - I lived there for a couple of years, and it really is a great country, and it would be even greater with you at the helm.

I think what woould benefit Mitt is less contrast ads, (and I think they’re fine, personally) and to just push what he’s already accomplished. If exit polls claim that the ads are what turned people off, show them what we already know - Mitt is the man. People don’t need to be told that Huckabee and McCain are out to lunch, in their heart of hearts, they already know it;) The great things Mitt has accomplished just need to be shown, especially in Michigan where the economy is struggling hard. I do hope those blogging here are recruiting friends to go and vote for Mitt - I’m a Canadian so there’s not much I can do, but please tell me the support here is translating into votes somewhere. Many are saying it will have to be a Democrat for sure after Bush…but Romney can change that. He can get things done, heck, he HAS gotten things done. MCain’s accomplished uh…I don’t even know what, and I’ve been paying close attention. He was a POW, I’m not sure that qualifies a person to be the commander in chief, no disrespect intended. Every interview with his “I told the truth” lines in it, clearly meant to be a barb at Romney (although I don’t know why, Romney is the only one I trust out of the bunch) makes me sick. With all the Mitt hating in the race, I don’t know who he’ll pick as a running mate, I thought maybe Thompson, but he has no apparent magnetism with the voters. Maybe Mitt’s got another buddy in the government somewhere with all the military savvy that will make the strongest possible ticket - just not McCain, not with his BS in the debates.

Romney 08!!! (I’m Canadian and I envy your chance to vote for such a great man.)

  1. I have known Mitt for fourteen years. My wife has known him for nearly 40 years. She served the Romney family as their housekeeper. There are very few things that she does not know about his family. We both highly recommend Mitt Romney to the presidency. My wife will vouch that Mitt has never lied, swear, or been dishonorable in anyway towards anybody he has worked with. Mitt is apparently the only open-minded (not a "flip-flopper") person in the race who has a plan for change. His vision and proposals for change are realistic and will change America for the better forever.

More and more jobs are being shipped offshore, the value of the dollar is dropping, and foreign entities are buying up America. We're loosing our sovernty as a nation. We need to put aside politics, religious bigotry, the war and figure out which candidate is the best qualified to save our nation!

  1. It's amazing that someone who is leading in the delegate count, placed first or second in the first three states, has solid polling numbers and money in the bank is considered to be losing or making his last stand. It seems that some are pursuing a new ABM policy (Anybody But Mitt).

Right now, I believe that Mitt has the best chance of putting America back on track. He's a proven problem solver and make significant positive change in Washington. Eight years ago, I would have said McCain was the man.

    Now it's Mitt Romney!!

  1. Mitt Romney has more votes than any candidate so far. He is in this race to stay. Michigan please stand up for Mitt Romney and he will stand up for Michigan.

  1. MITT ROMNEY is the most capable and result oriented candidate on either side. We, the average people outside DC, go to our jobs every morning and are held accountable to deliver everything we said we would do in our interviews. Romney has the same awareness of accoutability.

McCain and Huckabee talk lofty talks like professional politicians and throw indirect jibes at Romney. When would the Washington politicians and the media be FIRED for just talking and failing to achieve anything measurable? McCain wants to be Iraq for a million years if needed. Come on, meet the benchmarks in Iraq or get the hell out of the helm--let Romney define benchmarks and exceed them in Iraq.

America's strength is innovation--we need Romney to fuel innovation to get us back in to the competitive growth mode to take on China and the rest of the world.

  1. About McCain - Here's a few items worth reviewing about the war "hero". He was in a hard spot but there are a lot of people who were there too and they say he is a dirt bag.http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a38c1e4481c63.htm

  1. Mitt Romney graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and in the top 5 percent of his class at HBS, he has many, many years of selfless service to people in the communities he has lived in, he became president and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee in February 1999 and turned around a scandal-plagued Winter Olympics. Romney donated $1 million to the games and refused to take a salary unless the committee finished in the black. Now again he is donating his own money for a cause he believes in strongly. He wants to make America a better place. He wants to make a difference for good in the world. He is not doing it for the money, he already has money. He could have spent that money for vacations and expensive toys, but instead he decided to put service to country ahead of selfishness. He has good, strong moral values and his family is proof of that. Couldn't we use that example in America? How he governed in Massachusetts is also proof of his gift for leadership. He totally turned around the problems they were having there. He fixes things. He changes things. Every time he does a job everything improves. Look at his record. Look at his life. He has led an exemplary life. From Maryland- I am voting for Romney.

  1. David (#7): if Huck's not a religious bigot and isn't playing the 'religion card,' why does he allow thousands of anti-Mormon comments to remain on his official site??? Hmmmmmm?????? He's a bigot. It's THAT simple.

As for McCain, I live in San Diego county; I see first hand what illegal immigrants have done to this country. McCain has NO friends in California, believe me..... It's "anybody but McCain" out here folks.... Get behind someone who is conservative, and who CAN win - that would be Mitt Romney!!!!

  1. If Mitt loses then America loses. Sadly, the open Michigan primary will be tough for him. I'm so tired of people saying Mitt is plastic, etc. Look at his life - real accomplishments, real results, real INTEGRITY.

  1. Romney is without a doubt a man who has clearly proven that he can make changes for the better. Anybody out there who's never started their own business, or chaired a major event hasn't got a clue has to the complexity of leadership qualifications it takes to do so.

Romney by far is the most well rounded candidate in talking about the individual issues.

  1. I am no fan of Huckabee or McCain. Huckabee seems to lack substance. McCain is solid on national defense, but lacks substance on everything else.

  1. I've seen the words "reeling losses", "wounded campaign" when these liberal media fools write about Mitt Romney - it's crazy! The man has a little mentioned win in Wyoming and two second place finishes - that doesn't sound wounded to me! Huckabee got his "win" and momentum using sleazy tactics to incite fear in the Evangelicals. And what about the Evangelicals - they actually admitted that they voted for Huckabee because he's one of them - not because of his record! Did they look at his record? He's got numerous ethics violations - did they care? Apparently not, it makes me sick.

Mitt Romney has led a scandal free life, he WORKED for his fortune and has a conservative record. Has anyone questioned why John McCain gets endorsements from Democrats or liberal newspapers? It's because he's one of them! I appreciate his service to his country but he is no conservative!

Michigan has serious economic problems - why not vote for a man with REAL economic experience? Mike Huckabee continues to remind us that the people of Arkansas re-elected him, I think a good reminder is that they re-elected Bill Clinton as well. John McCain voted against the tax cuts that kept our country out of recession after 9-11. He has a very scary temperment - I can't imagine how he would deal with foreign leaders. Did I forget to mention that he gave us McCain Feingold and McCain-Kennedy bills? Thank goodness Congress voted against the amnesty!!!

Please Michigan - vote for Mitt so that I can too!
