Obama distances himself from Farrakhan
The friction between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama over Clinton's words about the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. may have ebbed, but Obama today found himself in another delicate situation involving race and a prominent black leader.
In this morning's Washington Post, columnist Richard Cohen took Obama's church, Trinity United Church of Christ, on Chicago's South Side, to task for giving an award last year to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The church, through its magazine, bestowed on Farrakhan its Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award -- named for its pastor -- saying Farrakhan "truly epitomized greatness."
"Maybe for Wright and some others, Farrakhan 'epitomized greatness,' Cohen wrote. "For most Americans, though, Farrakhan epitomizes racism, particularly in the form of anti-Semitism."
The column caught the attention of the Anti-Defamation League, which was preparing to publicly press Obama to distance himself from the award and from Farrakhan. But Obama's campaign, before the ADL could act, put out a statement doing just that.
"I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan," Obama said in a statement released by his aides. "I assume that Trumpet Magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree."
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL's national director, welcomed Obama's words.
"Issues of racism and anti-Semitism must be beyond the bounds of politics," Foxman said in a statement. "When someone close to a political figure shows sympathy and support for an individual who makes his name espousing bigotry, that political figure needs to distance himself from that decision. Senator Obama has done just that."
This isn't the first time Obama's church, and his minister, have created a hiccup for his campaign. In February, Obama disinvited Wright from giving the invocation at his campaign kickoff in Springfield, Ill., apparently fearing controversy from Wright's Afrocentric teachings.

I found out about Obama's Farrakhan connection right after he started gaining press on running for President. I will never under any circumstance vote for anyone with any known alliance with Farrakhan based on his racism. The church Obama is part of openly advertise they are pro African, pro black and so on, mention nothing about loyalty to the country they live. If any white church replaced the word white with the word black on the church website they would be called racists. I am female, white, very liberal and was going to vote for Obama until I found out this information. If Obama wins the nomination, I will volunteer for the Republican campaign which for me would be worse than being disemboweled. I will not vote for anyone involved with a group that preaches raciscm and hate.
The greatest disqualifying factor in any Presidential race is whether or not a given individual is seeking the office. Anyone who is seeking it, is not qualified to hold it because anyone who is qualified to hold it is smart enough not to seek it.
Like most Americans I would find it troubling if a presidential candidate
who, for decades, attended and ascribed to a church who's mantra read with
the brazenly racist rhetoric as that described below. I'd question that
persons ability to be a leader in the free world.
"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly White and Unapologetically
Christian... Our roots in the White religious experience and tradition are
deep, lasting and permanent. We are a European people, and remain "true to
our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has
superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of
segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the
strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a
congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural
expression of a White worship service and ministries which address the White
Community."
That's blatantly racist alright. But, if one substitutes the words White for
Black, and
European people for African people the statement above is exactly what the
church Senator Obama attends ascribes to. In this day and age we should be
way beyond this type of racist rhetoric.
It's time to move forward and the last place that should be espousing racism
should be this nations places of worship.
Membership in Obama's racist church earns him an occassional "hiccup" while Romney and Huckabee are subjected to projectile vomiting over their religious affiliations.
And the media isn't biased?
Birds of a feather.....
Then what about your church???
Hillary's exit strategy:
Having meticulously planned their coveted return to the White House for several years now, the Clintons will certainly not exit the scene with grace or dignity. This is the political duo that honed "The Politics Of Personal Destruction" into an artform; and, most certainly will not tolerate, who is in their mind, the "upstart Obama" to derail Hillary's pre-choreographed coronation.
With regards Slick's comments on Obama's Iraq record; and, the draft dodger's false accusation of flip flopping on the Iraq issue against Obama: It was actually Hillary who was the serial flip-flopper on this issue. Obama to his credit, as a matter of conscience, refused to deny American troops the funding for the bullets and equipment that they required to survive in ongoing combat. Hillary, on the other hand, with no such compelling principles, was one of only two U.S. Senators who voted to deny funding for essential equipments for our troops who they had "previously" voted to commit to lethal combat. A despicable breach of trust with the young men and women laying their lives on the line in defense of our Nation. Obama made the classical rookie error of not responding to Slick's false accusation, which he could have easily turned to Hillary's well deserved detriment
Barrack and his supporters best be prepared for the "Political Lynching" that will rival anything previously witnessed in Presidential politics.
Slick and Hilla-the-Hun have repeatedly demonstrated a vicious mud-slinger demeanor that is unprecedented whenever their political dynasty has been threatened in the past. Just ask anyone of their innumerable victims.
Greg Neubeck
Most telling to me is the fact that he only distances himself from these
people when the light is shone into the dark corners if his closet.
If he really believed what he says, he wouldn't be doing it as damage
control, Obama would have distanced himself from these haters at
the first opportunity. This guy is just TOO slick!
it is too late for Obama to distance himself from a bigot, Farrakhan is fed by the rich radical Islamists who want to create chaos within US, and if Obama had connection with Farrakan at some point , his name sounds like Osama !!
w ought to know who we are voting for.
It's not what a person says, but who he/she is that will be released in their actions. They just can't help it...it oozes out. Gracious speech is only a camoflauge that tries to cover the true character that lies within.
If the basis of one's judgments (as is the responsibility of Head of State) are based on intellicetual skill and reasoning, weighing life in the philosophies of men, then the platform of decisions is shifting sand. It is the character that is shaped from the engrafted Truth that holds up the weight of responsibility. When reports of alligances with openly racist groups (who call themselves a church) are exposed, then Obama has no place to hid. His character is exposed for all to see.
I wonder how many of you have actually heard an ENTIRE lecture of the Hon. Minister Farrakhan. I would guess that your perception / comments are made from snipets that you've been exposed to via the media. He's quoted directly from the Bible and has been accused of antisemetism. Check it out for yourselves. He has read Jesus' words directly from Revelations 2:9 and John 8:42 where Jesus was speaking to the Jews. The media then takes snipets and then makes him out to be antisemetic. I ask if Minister Louis Farrakhan was quoting Jesus and he is said to be anti semetic, would you then consider Jesus to be the antisemetic. Don't reply until you read it for yourself.
As for Obama, a magazine who's editors are the daughters of the pastor where Obama goes to church awareded Min. Farrakhan and NOT Obama's church. Be more through in your research prior to making such foolish comments.
Obama's church gave Louis Farrakhan an award? This Mr. Wright (don't EVEN think of calling this man "reverend") is a blatant racist. Why is it that white people can be racist against blacks, but blacks are never racist against whites? What a convenient double-standard! Obama is a dangerous man. He will destroy this country if elected.
Obama is not what he says he is! He's always running to put out fires before they burn him but he can't put this one out! This man CANNOT be allowed to become President of America. You know about his church but do you know about his trip to Kenya in 2006? He went there among other reasons to support Raila Odinga who also claims to be Christian and was running for President of Kenya. It's his troops who are right now slaughtering innocent people, mostly Christians, by the hundreds because he lost the election. Odinga and Obama are Muslim! If that were not the case why would Obama support Odinga and his plan for Kenya? Read his Memorandum of Understanding Between Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga Representing the Orange Democratic Movement and National Muslim Leaders.
I concur with Knowledge is Key. Why is it such a great fear for Black unity ?

Did min. Farrakhan or Obama set up the racial divides between black, white, people and churchs. No it was set up by bombing, burning, segregation and by the way if im not mistaken 11:00 Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in America. Farrakhan is just bold enough to speak about what millions of black americans think and feel and black preachers dont have the courage knowledge and fortitude to say. The award was given to him because he deserved it our community recognizes him as the shining light he is. O i guess the anti-semitic charges you have labeled him with are the same ones the so-called jews labeled jesus with.
Nice try, "knowledge is power". The devil himself can take a snippet of scripture, out of context, but it doesn't make him a truth teller. Oh, how ironic, isn't that what you accused those critical of Farrakhan of doing? I've had the misfortune of hearing Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright speak, and I would draw no other conclusion than that they are bigoted, anti-semitic, anti-white, hate filled men. If they can take the scrutiny, let's see them stumping for Obama. Let the people hear their words, and decide for themselves.
Obama was in Kenya supporting Raila Odinga, knowing full well that Odinga had promised in writing to establish sharia law throughout Kenya within 60 days of assuming power had he won the election. What conclusion do you draw from that about Obama's attitude about sharia law?
I'm white and I don't fear black unity or Louis Farrakkan at all. But I am disgusted by the flaming hypocrisy of Obama, who is an obvious black nationalist, going around courting white voters, as if he cares about the interests of white people.
First off, let us debunk the term "racism" from a "true" Bible believers view.
There is only "one" "Race". The Human Race. Skin color does not designate a race. That is a man made view. You do not have to believe me. Check out the Bible and read Acts 17:26, King Jame Version. It reads as follows:
"And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
Anti-Semitism fits into the same category. We are all one big Biological family on this planet. It does not matter if you believe it or not
Plain and simple: Obama is the bi-racial Slick Willie of politics. And he's a racist. Go ahead and elect him, and see what he tries to do.
Plain and simple: Obama is the bi-racial Slick Willie of politics. And he's a racist. Go ahead and elect him, and see what he tries to do.
The most shocking thing about this article is that it is an article written by one Jewish man (Scot Helman) which quotes another Jewish man (Abraham H. Foxman) about another article written by yet a third Jewish man (Richard Cohen) in which Farrakhan's virulent anti-White racism is reduced to "anti-semitism." And we are led to believe that the problem with Farrakhan is that he is anti-semitic. The real problem with Farrakhan, of course, is that he is anti-White.
It doesn't surprise me though that three Jewish men would conclude that the "real" problem with Farrakhan is that he is anti-semitic.
The truth is Farrakhan isn't anti-semitic. Farrakhan has spoken out repeatedly in favor of semitic peoples - like the Palistinians. He is strongly pro-semitic. However, he strongly opposes the Jewish Supremacist movement (commonly called Zionism) that the ADL is part and parcel of. It is, however, true that Farrakhan is an anti-White racist, and for that he should be reviled.
I was much more concerned when we elected a President with close ties to the Bin Laden family.
Obama is a despicable racist, period. If the head of your church and your personal mentor is a racist, you're a racist. Especially when the church prints and distributes a magazine out of their office that frequently contains hate speech. Obama is also a a liar for claiming that he believed his church gave the "award" because of help with inmates, when nothing like that was mentioned in the magazine. Lying f***ing racist.
It is significant that Obama did not criticize Rev.Wright, or distance himself from the award given to Farrakhan, last year when it happened --- but only now when it is "politically advantageous" to do so, when he is running for President.
He is a racist and not qualified to be President. I presume that he will receive the voting support of all Palestinian Americans ... but should be boycotted by American Jews!
Obama lost my vote when he started playing favourism in Kenya, siding with his tribes man Raila Odinga who is behind the killings in Kenya. If he is playing those politics there he will do it here once we elect him.

Maybe the church burning and slaughter being carried out in Kenya by Obama's cousin Raila is very distant from the US right now, but with Obama in power who knows? That man is a green snake in the grass...
...am a Kenyan, and right now Kenyans are bearing the full brunt of Obama sponsored terror
Belonging to Rev. Wright's congregation gives Obama credentials among his African American base, who sometimes doubted that he was authentically "Black", given his Kenyan father, white mother and white upbringing. He needs to wrest the Arican American base from the Clintons in order to get the nomination. That explains his avoidance of casting a vote in the Illinois State Senate when issues of reproductive rights were at issue. He voted "present". Black radicals oppose abortion rights and even medically accurate sex education, calling it genocide. Obama was in a tight space, between proving his Black and pro-choice credentials, so he weaseled out.
Foxman sometimes overreacts. But this time he is right.
Would you vote for a Presidential candidate (not your candidate for village supervisor, mind you )who refuses to end his /her membership in a golf club that
declines membership to Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, etc?
His expressed "disagreement " with the "views" of Wright/Farrakhan is not enough. As a candidate for President, not village dog catcher, he must
quit that church.Make a clean break. But he will not do it. Why should he? He is the media-made Messiah.
No, I am not voting for Hillary. I do not intend to vote at all.
braham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, told the Jewish Week that Obama should confront Wright, whom he described as someone who "embraces, awards and celebrates a black racist." If Obama is unable to change Wright's mind, he should leave the church, Foxman said.
Brother Minister Farrakhan speaks the truth! A truth that hurts the ears of many black white and other. However, it is a truth this nation and the world must hear.
I would suggest you learn of Minister Farrakhan for yourself instead of throwing
around accusations and name calling which you can't back up with facts.

POST no. 11 "knowledge is power" is laughable.
yes, you can read the despicable Farrakhans so called "speeches" online. just google the ugly man's name. unfortunately, some poor mislead people think enough of him to post his hate-filled words. or perhaps, they do it to EXPOSE the idiot. regardless, yes, in reading entire passages of this Snake's words there is INDISPUTABLE evidence to "accuse" the poor misunderstood Black "leader" of Anti-Semitism. Find a passage and you will be treated to grotesquely twisted interpretations of the Bible (of which are the very basis of the Nation of Islam), hideous distortion of facts, just plain idiocy, nonsensical thought processes, and yes... R-A-C-I-S-M in it's truest form. He may quote the Bible, but he does it only in attempt to rationalism his hate-filled philosophies. Just like the KKK or other White Supremist. You cannot hide behind the cover of African American heritage and say oh, I can say this or do this because I am Black and it won't be called racist. Sorry those days are over. Each and every person of every creed color and nationality is responsible his or her individual actions and statements, including those derogatory toward others. Might I suggest to some the writing of one very profound thinker Shelby Steele to gain enpowering insight on the matter from a scholarly perspective. NOT a hate-monger perspective. And finally, the award in question was called the “Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Trumpeter” Award. I don't know how much more affiliated a person can be than to have their own freggin name on a freggin award. The magazine website's media kit from Sept '07 (accessible via
Google) says the magazine was "created and founded by the pastor, and produced by the staff and members of Trinity United Church of Christ".
One word -reprehensible.
I have read these comments with much interest. I do not think being pro-black is anti-white. These charges of anti-white have been leveled and heightened against pro-black leaders for generations, resulting in either physical assassination (Malcolm X) to political ones, eg. Farrakhan.
Most of my friends, white, asian, black who love living their lives as Americans will admit that most institutions in this country, from the courthouse to the State house from banks to churches, from the media (old and new) to Hollywood, are implicitly white, sometimes explicitly so - there is no need to state that. It is a fact. Pro-black organizations are about building and maintaining the self-esteem and respect of its members, when interacting and engaging in these institutions.
I attended a predominantly white school in an all-white town in New Hampshire. Each day I was made of my blackness, sometimes in positive ways, sometimes not. On rare occassions, it truly was not an issue. On campus, we had ONE organization, that celebrated pop music, hip hop and r&b, specifically. My fellow students who were not black who loved the music would be urged to come to the group's meetings, and though every effort was made to make them feel welcome, they would leave after two or three meetings, citing feeling uncomfortable. Yet for the most part, they could not understand why a black person may feel uncomfortable in every other aspect of this 24-hour school experience, regardless of how we were or weren't made to feel comfortable.
Presidents Clinton (Democratic) & Bush (Republican) like Obama, are all Christians, and yet have supported Muslim countries, in some cases Muslim regimes - is it safe to say that they have sanctioned faith-based killings because they have pushed for stabilization in those countries. No. Nor is it accurate to say this about Obama.
Why do people fear black unity? It's not fear, it's confusion. Why is white unity a crime, but black unity is progress? Why does black America fear extending the same tolerance and understand towards whites as they demand for themselves?
Obama's campaign has united such a variety of Americans. This to me should be our number one priority and considered a national security issue. Suffering in this country does not discriminate. Shame on the Clinton's and those who continue to use divisiveness to further their personal agenda. I, without question, will vote for McCain if Clinton wins. I believe he has more character and dignity to stoop and take pot shots at another candidate. The fact of the matter is many African Americans that had lost hope and felt disenfranchised have now been brought back to the table. Now at least there can be a discussion which could bring this country back together. Americans must unite to overcome the arrogance that this administration has presented to the world. We must unite now
It is sad that Black people must condemn their own leaders in order to be acceptable to white America. Sad but true.
Farrakhan is not an anti-Semite any more than he is anti-Black or anti-Muslim or anti-Christian. It is absolutely AMAZING that this 24-year-old quote made its way into this debate. Is the press THAT desparate for a story against Obama?
And because this news is older than many Obama voters, for the record (which has been around for quite some time):
The exact 1984 quote was this: "...America and England and the nations backed Israel's existence. Therefore when you aid and abet someone in a criminal conspiracy, you are a part of that criminal conspiracy. So America and England and the nations are criminals in the sight of almighty God. Now, that nation of Israel, never has had any peace in forty years and she will never have any peace because there can never be any peace structured on injustice, thievery, lying and deceit and using the name of God to shield your dirty religion under His holy and righteous name."
Is Farrakhan saying there should be no state of Israel? No. He has repeatedly said that only the injustice toward the Palestinians need be removed, with a Palestinian state living side-by-side with Israel. Farrakhan has struck up an association with a group of fundamentalist rabbis from Brooklyn. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which has led the charge against the Nation of Islam over the last two decades, has actually criticized Farrakhan for meeting with these rabbis as if he can only be considered "pro-Semitic" if he is accepted by the right kind of Jews.

One seemingly consistent theme running throughout Barack Obama’s career is his comfort with aligning himself with people who are anti-Israel advocates. This ease around Israel animus has taken various forms. As Obama has continued his political ascent, he has moved up the prestige scale in terms of his associates. Early on in his career he chose a church headed by a former Black Muslim who is a harsh anti-Israel advocate and who may be seen as tinged with anti-Semitism. This church is a member of a denomination whose governing body has taken a series of anti-Israel actions. As his political fortunes and ambition climbed, he found support from George Soros, multibillionaire promoter of groups that have been consistently harsh and biased critics of the American-Israel relationship. There are literally hundreds of churches on the South Side of Chicago that Obama could have chosen from. He selected one that was headed by Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Junior. The anti-Israel rants of this minister have been well chronicled. Among the gems: The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for almost 40 years now. It took a divestment campaign to wake the business community up concerning the South Africa issue. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community up and to wake Americans up concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism
Pastor Wright is a supporter of Louis Farrakhan (who called Judaism a “gutter religion” and depicted Jews as “bloodsuckers”) and traveled with him to visit Col. Muammar al-Gaddafi, archenemy of Israel’s and a terror supporter.
The New York Sun is reporting that Barack Obama repudiated the views of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan that were discussed in Richard Cohen’s Washington Post column. Cohen’s criticism regarding Obama’s ties to the Church and the Pastor that gave an award to Farrakhan were reaching a large audience that included potential Democrat voters who might be swayed to withdraw support from Obama. This statement by Obama is a political maneuver that should be given little credence. Obama is very actively involved in his church; he knew of this award long before Richard Cohen publicized its grant to Farrakhan. Furthermore, Pastor Wright has had a long relationship and alliance with Louis Farrakhan. Obama did not object to these ties between Pastor Wright and Farrakhan before; nor has Obama rejected the anti-Israel diatribes of Wright. Regardless, Obama adheres to a church and a minister that have long espoused positions inimical to the American-Israel relationship, let alone the trumpeting of black values and racial exclusiveness. This follows a pattern for Obama: he shows extreme loyalty to a church and pastor whose controversial views eventually become publicized. Then Obama “disappears” the Minister and Obama’s campaign (not Obama himself) issues a statement that Obama does not agree with everything that Wright espouses. He solicits and gains support from the controversial George Soros, a man whose anti-Israel passions and allegations regarding America’s Jewish community and Congress are well-known. When these ties become publicized, Obama’s campaign (not Obama himself) issues a statement that Obama does not agree with Soros on this topic. When Obama articulates anti-Israel positions in off-the cuff remarks, his campaign (not Obama himself-stop me if you have heard this before) issues clarifications that attempt to explain away the plain English import of Obama’s (the supreme orator) expressed views. In other words, Obama only disavows when it is politically opportune to do so. He seems to have never objected to these views before they become publicized and create a political firestorm because they belie his image of peace, compassion, unity. Obama is not a profile in courage and his disavowals are political pabulum.
I swear some of you are really close minded idiots. Obama never has done anything "pro black" but yet day in and day out I hear that he is a radical pro black muslim who is going to give the U.S. over to bin laden and other ludicrous claims. What world do you people live in? Farrakhan although maybe not the most polished in white Americans eyes, has done for racial Equality and to uplift his people then most of the secret hate spewing Republicans you vote for. Obama is not muslim, and Isn't pro black, its laughable to even think so. Really read your facts and base your votes over who has the best plan to turn around this country that Bush is running into the ground. And not gossip and slander.
Obama's connection to racism is more than through association. He continues to be a due-paying member of a church that gave an award last year to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The Obama I would like to believe in would have left that 'church' the minute the 'honor' was bestowed. Unfortunately, the facts speak for themselves. He remains a member of a racist church. If my church honored David Duke and I remained a member how would that reflect on my character? He is a phony.
Interesting to note that the Trumpet - the 'church's' newsletter- is a bit harder to find on the Church's web site than it was just three weeks ago...
I judge a person by his deeds
It seems that, just because a church, which in America is necessarily separate from the state, says that its members "are an African people" who are "unashamedly Black," declares its "roots in the Black religious experience and tradition," and acknowledges a mission to "address the Black Community" does not mean that its members are "racist" or even that they believe themselves to be exceptional.
I guess in order for a church not to be racist, it must be ashamed of its primary ethnicity, deny the origin of its spiritual tradition, and ignore the interests of its primary audience.
Churches need to stay out of public affairs and stick to what they're good at, which is addressing the concerns of one's IMMORTAL SOUL. Political commentators could then return the favor.
This is a fine example that race will forever show its ugly face in this world.... we will never stop letting the color of another person's skin becoming a big deal. in some way this is something that will be with this world until it is no more, there are well documented facts of people of all colors saying something againts another persons race....from Farrakan against Jews, to David Duke Not liking anyome who is not white....we as people are always to quick to jump and judge another person without having all of the facts. I'm sure Obama doesnt agree with either of the two clowns or their views then and now. its funny how you will hold him responsible for something that somone said .....if this is the case and people now want to turn their backs on him and not vote for him , then I guess I should be angry at some of you in this world as well as in this room who voted for George Bush to become President...... and that goes for his father as well.. Is it fair to label anyone that voted for either of them to be called a racist ?? The Bush family owned 175 slaves in the early 1800's not to mention that his family should also be consider as antisemtic because his great grand father helped Hilter to rise to power by being a front man for Hitler's army .......read the 1942 trading with enemy act to know more, as its stand this means that your current President comes from the family of slave owners i guess that nobody saw a problem in that when you got him elected president, what was your thought then on how you could not vote for anyone who wanted to be president that had anything to do with racism ........my point is it would not be right to call president Bush a racist because that was something he had nothing to do with what his ancestor did, nor is it right to hold Obama responsible for somethig that someone else believes in . it is only fair to wait and see all of the facts once they have been displayed and then make a judgement call as to what you want to do about him running in 08 .. right now is not the right time to jump ship!
Yeah, Jeremiah Wright's over the top in this clip. I'm sure there's more to him than this. But Obama doesn't share this world view or this approach to dealing with divisions or disagreements. He's proven that throughout his life and career. Wright is old-school in the mold of a civil rights era rabble rouser who's time and place is yesterday. Obama is a uniter with the instinct of a diplomat who's time is now. He's the embodiment of racial reconciliation as a well adjusted bi-racial person. It's possible to be critical of some of our common history and be a patriot.
Wake up People! Are yall so closed minded and wanting this nation divided so badly until you have condemed this man (Obama) on the beliefs of someone else?? Has it been forgotten that he is part White. His mother is white, his grandparents are white, he has a black father whom did not raise him. Not only can he relate to african americans he can also relate to caucausin Americans. Doesnt that one fact give him the right to be trusted at his word of uniting this country in terms of race? Are the close minded people of America accusing this man of being a racist? Against whom? Hiself, His mother, ??I dont think so…. Listen to the man’s message it is Change and hope, So for all you closed minded people who can’t listen to his message or what he is going to do for our economy, TheWar, healthcare, etc.. - which should be important mostly important for those of us who has children. Stop trying to assume what this man did or didnt know about his pastor. Gas prices are going up people! the united states is heading for recession People, We are at War people. The man has made it this far because the people are voting for him in recored numbers Whites, Hispanics, Blacks etc.. Young, Old.. Etc… you name it - they want Change!! He is the Front runner . Stop trying to find Racial indifference in a man whom is technically Not White or Black - Stop judging on stupid issues that can’t not be proven factually and lets get focus on the future of the United States of America for Our Kids and pick a president based on what they can do to make this a better place- Havent we had enough Judgement in our history? Wasn’t that the reason Slavery and racism even existed Being Judge by others whom thought they were right and superior of another - come on people WAKE UP, do you have nothing else to talk about? If you dont and all you want to do is focus on what he probaly knew on the beleifs of someone else - You may want to look in the mirror to see who you really are, but stop trying to interfere with people who want to blog about the important issues of our country that are facts and not assumptions. Face it close minded people, the open minded people in american want CHANGE and Obama is the FRONT RUNNER..
I would like everyone to view UTUBE, "White Folk, you owe us the whole country" 12/24/07 by Farrahkan.
I think it is rediculous to hold Obama accountable for views of others. I am sure both clinton and Mccain have racist associates, maybe they do it in private, but that doesnt make it any better. Obama has been honest and forthcoming on many issues. We really should worry about his views not those of others.
Well, if all you folks who won't vote for Obama because of his "association" with Farrakhan are telling the truth, at least we don't have to worry about you voting for McCain, who actively sought the endorsement of Rev. Hagee: http://www.catholicleague.org/release.php?id=1393
Wow, if all you folks are so worried about Obama's associations, you must be terrified that the Republicans are happy to do the bidding of the Saudis. And what about their direct association with good ol' Rev Moon? See http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050208K.shtml
Obama can distance himself from the Nation of Islam but anyone with half a brain knows it's all bull. His smoke and mirrors will fool the stupid liberal while the typical afro-supporter will not care and most likley already agrees with Farrackhan's defamations. They are posers that feign racial unity. I can't wait for the hypocrites to be called out on their deep seeded racism. But, really I'm just the typical whitey gettiing harrased at the 95 Dan Ryan. Racial unity is a lovely dream deferred and most certainly unrequited by the black power movement.
Obama has a lot of problems trying to distance himself from all of his extremist friends, but you haven't seen noting yet. Wait untill this whitey tape comes out with his wife Michelle, his campaign is going to all over but the crying. The American people will finally see the Obamas for what they really are.
All of these posts intended to "wake up white america" against obama are not only ridiculous but hypocritical as well. You all charge that he is a wolf in sheeps clothing (isnt every politician) because he has muslim and pro-african friends. You all would be so lucky to have a friend who spoke the truth and stood his ground like the rev wright. For a second here i thought i was reading confederate quarterly or rebel rouser, but no, this is a modern "newspaper". Just goes to show that jim crow is still alive and kicking...because some of you wont turn off the life support.

I do NOT want to hear anymore CRAP about discrimination in America. America has elected a mulato black as their president. ENOUGH. Blacks have equal opportunity in America, and to deny that is racist. I do NOT accept Senator Obama as a representative of mainstream America, but to declare that blacks are not equal in America is false. If you want , in the future, to claim that blacks in America are less than full Americans, then keep it to yourself. I do not want to hear this crap any more. This talk of reparations and the like should only be accepted with the immediate resignation of our new Muslim president. Short of that, the black community should shut the hell up and try to make America a better place instead of demanding money and recognition. Barak is not MY president. As of now, America is a socialist state and those of us who actually educated ourselves and WORK for a living should not have to be defined as patriotic by giving our educated payday to those who are societal failures through BAD choices of individual people. To expect redistribution of wealth from those of us who paid our way through college to those who made bad choices to terminate their personal progress in society is a travesty and should not be tolerated. America is headed toward being a third world country, and Mr. Obama contributes to that each day. Through him, and those like him, America is doomed.
It's quite interesting the position that so many take in decrying Barak Obama's affiliation, however remote, with a church that one commentor called pro-black and another anti-american. So hypocritcal! How, many political figures, business conglomerates, and military leaders, the higher echelon of society, of the past and present have been affiliated with bigots, racists, and down right hate mongers?
The man denounced the actions of Farrakhan's ignorant words and actions of yester year. Yet, many feel that he has some agenda that embraces him with Farrakhan's past, which Farrakhan has even apologized for, grown from and left behind. What type of logic is that?
I'll tell you what kind! It's the kind that has a problem with a man of a particular culture, background, and race being the Commander and Chief of the country in which some are right and others are lack.
People , by nature, many times have a tendency to accuse others of the very demons that afflict themselves. Accusing Farrakhan of being a racist, and implying that President-elect Barak Obama the same, is absurd.
If you cannot wrap your gray matter around the fact that the man who will run the free world comes from a world and past who knew no freedoms, do yourself a favor and read and sing the carol of silent night until the words manifest themself in you, and you are at one with the title...maybe then your ignorance will remain hidden.
This blog is definitely biased, as it allows dissidents of President elect Barak Obama fully express their opinions, and sensors those who support the newly elected President by not posting their comments. What a farce of a blog...Political Ignorance should be the title.
