Obama, McCain continue to hold edge
Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain lead the field in the new CNN/WMUR tracking poll on the eve of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary.
The poll, just released on CNN, gives Obama a 39 percent to 30 percent lead over Hillary Clinton, with John Edwards in third at 16 percent.
In the Republican race, McCain has a 31 percent to 26 percent lead over Mitt Romney. Mike Huckabee is in third with 13 percent and Rudy Giuliani and Ron Paul are tied at 10 percent.
The Obama and McCain leads are virtually unchanged from the CNN tracking poll released Sunday.
A Fox News poll released earlier today gave McCain a 34 percent to 27 percent lead over Romney.

Ron Paul is a "top tier" patriot... http://truthalert.net/Republican%20Presidential%20Candidate%20Rankings.htm
When you're filling your car with $3 gas and buying some $2.65 a dozen eggs, remember who is running on stopping deficit spending. The war for oil is what caused prices for anything that eats grain to skyrocket. When THOSE prices rise, the fresh fruit seller raises his prices again, now you have some nice $5 a pound grapes in the market. Laugh all you want, it's YOUR money being spent. YOU'RE the one going to pay $250 a week for groceries. Still think Ron Paul sounds like a bad idea? He's the ONLY candidate, Republican or Democrat that is running on reducing your cost of living. Maybe you have plenty money. Me, I'm not so rich.
I'm anxious for HIllary Clinton to become President. She's got more experience and qualifications on the issues which matter to me, in my late '60's, than other Democrats, Independents. She'll deliver on affordable health care for ALL Americans, immediately! And she will bring the war in Iraq to a rapid close! She will work hard to upgrade education and economic opportunities for American women and children, too often left behind. Go Girl, Go!
Hillary will never be elected, she has moderate's record yet is hated as if she was an actual progressive -- and as far as achieving universal coverage in health care, what's her record on that?
Time for a new generation.

Louis Nardozi above said,
"remember who is running on stopping deficit spending. .. (Ron Paul) is the ONLY candidate... that is running on reducing your cost of living."
Not true! JOHN McCAIN has always been the candidate of fiscal responsibility -- reducing spending and deficits as well as taxes. Also, Ron Paul opposes any federal role in developing alternative energy sources. John McCain supports energy alternatives to oil.
I am sick of hearing about Ms. Clinton's "35 years of experience," when much of that experience was by relationship not position, and much of it was in the service of the entrenched political establishment.
I am now 61 years old. I can claim 61 years of experience!
But what this country is yearns for is not a recitation of the past but a call to renewal of our inherent vision. We will never achieve a future worth having by looking backwards.
Our genius as a nation has never been our Constitution, nor our might, nor our wealth, but our deep faith, our deep hope, our deep belief that we are equal to any task. We need someone who not only reminds us of this, but who recruits us to it.
Too many candidates announce their programs and ask for our support for them to achieve their agenda. What I think the country wants, what I think the country needs, is someone who asks for our ideas, our visionary programs, and will support our working together on our common agendas. We can all make it if we focus on connections, not differences.
If you have ever met Mr. Obama face-to-face, talked with him one-on-one, had him listen to your heart's desires and your spirit's dreams (as I have) you would know he can re-ignite the beacon of light which has been the United States.
I'm not heavy on politics, but I've really spent a lot of time analyzing these candidates on both sides because I think this election, more so than any other election in a long time, could make or break the US. Ron Paul seems like the only one that's really going to introduce a profound enough amount of change to put us back on course. I can't really look at any other candidate, except maybe Obama to a lesser degree, and say with confidence that they're going to have an actual impact on our state of affairs. As things stand now, this country is headed in the wrong direction.
Bottom line:
I think Hillary Clinton must get back on that horse that brutally through her to the ground back in 1993. That horse is HR 676 (Medicare For all). Insurance mandates of any kind are totally unacceptable to the American people . Thank God. The vast majority of Americans know better than that now. They want single payer tax supported government managed universal health care free for all as a right. And they want it NOW! And they are right to demand it. The American people are suffering by the millions, and dieing by the ten's of thousands now. It's not just about everyone having coverage anymore. It's about the disgraceful quality of health care in America. Even for people with the best insurance coverage you can buy. And it has to end.
I have enormous admiration, and respect for Hillary Clinton. She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgot her heroic effort. If anyone has reason to be reluctant to get back on that bucking bronc again, it's her.
But I think the time is now. And more importantly. I think the American people are ready to do what they have got to do. To fix our disastrous, and deadly health care delivery system. At least I hope so. For all our sakes. Hillary Clinton is right. This is not a game. It's bigger than parties, and politics. It's about the life, or continued needless deaths of millions of Americans. And HR 676 (Medicare For All) is the way to save us.
The Globe-Democrat's poll which has Romney 6% points behind McCain is very inaccurate. As of today (1/7), Rasmussan and Realclearpolitics have McCain around 32% and Romney at 30%, well within the percentage of error.
The fact is that Romney was on the ropes going into the weekend and after his homerun performance at Sunday's debate, he is clearly surging ahead.
McCain was not creditable on his defense of the Kennedy-McCain amnesty bill and couldn't explain his defense for voting against the Bush Tax cuts. Its quite clear that the only true Republican in the race with a chance to win is Romney. Clear thinking Republicans will not vote for McCain because he has gone against the Conservative grain the last eight years. His record on taxes and immigration may fit the Democratic party, but not the Republican party.
Romney was the only one at Sunday's debate that articulated his stance on China, Immigration, taxes, and real change. With all of the attackes pointed him, he was the only one who looked presidential. It was quite telling that Huckabee danced around the issues on taxes and McCain cannot dig himself out of his support for the Kennedy amensty bill.
When the polls close tomorrow, Romney will be on top because the Republicans of New Hampshire will back him while the independents that McCain rode with in 2000 will flock to Obama.
for as far back as i can remember, people have always believed that experience and age parallel with better outcomes in Whasginton. All it gets you is the same politics which have brought this country down to where it is today. Its about time that we elect someone who can change everything up, actually come up with real answers and real solutions. We need Obama. we need change.

HR 676 is not the answer. We must take better care of ourself - entilement will only lead to many americans not involed in their health. Why take care of yourself if the goverment will pick up the bill? We all must have some skin in the game for our healthcare system to work.
I have a High Deductible plan - it makes me stay in shape. My auto insurance works like this - high deductible that covers the big items, not the gas, oil change wiper blades etc. Wow! my auto insurance is pretty cheap. It does not go up every year like most health insuranc policys.
It is amazing that Ron Paul gets so little coverage. he speaks to all generations, has raised more money then Huckabee, yet Huckabee gets twice as much press coverage. Paul will pull off a shocker tomorrow
NEWS: Hillary Tops the list of most corrupt politicians for 2007
Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007
Washington, DC –Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2007 list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.”
#1. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY): In addition to her long and sordid ethics record, Senator Hillary Clinton took a lot of heat in 2007 – and rightly so – for blocking the release her official White House records. Many suspect these records contain a treasure trove of information related to her role in a number of serious Clinton-era scandals. Moreover, in March 2007, Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint against Senator Clinton for filing false financial disclosure forms with the U.S. Senate (again). And Hillary’s top campaign contributor, Norman Hsu, was exposed as a felon and a fugitive from justice in 2007. Hsu pleaded guilt to one count of grand theft for defrauding investors as part of a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.
I'm voting for JOHN McCAIN even though I strongly disagree with him on giving amnesty to illegal aliens.
Congress will likely continue to block amnesty for illegals. Otherwise, McCain has the most maturity, personal integrity, and sensible conservatism to be president of the United States and leader of the Free World.
The solution to health care is not more government incomptence.
Hillary, like the others on both sides of the aisle supporting "Universal" healthcare today (prescription drug benefit anyone?) are only doing so do to the campaign contributions of the insurance and other companies pouring into their coffers.
There's not many campaign contributions to gather by strongly enforcing antitrust and anti-monopoly regulations, and by attacking poor regulations that have put unneccessary and artificial barriers of entry on the insurance marketplace. There is only reason the market tolerates costs spiraling out of control and high administrative costs (waste) -- the market is misregulated to protect innefficient companies from competetion.
There are billions for decades to come for those who can force all Americans to buy "full service" plans like Massachusetts now requires.
As a Goldwater Conservative Republican, I'm not impressed much by the current Republican crop...but I'd love to see the Democrats nominate Hillary just to mock them as historians 50 years from now talk about how the Democrats managed to lose another election for President AND lose control of the House (from the number of people who vote for a Republican represenative while also voting against Hillary).
As an American, that Obama fella is pretty darn charismatic and even if I don't agree with his opinions, at least I feel they are sincere unlike Hillary who tries to hide behind smoke and mirrors constantly. Yeah, the Republicans would almost certainly lose decisively to Obama, but it would be fun to watch his Presidency. He certainly wouldn't screw it up any worse then I expect the other likely candidates too.

Hillary and Obama do NOT have the experience....
Mccain has been in Washington for over 22 years...
Romney is the best choice because he can focus and solve problems.....
Wow! So many professional commenters. Where are all the normal everyday people? How much do you all get paid to write comments for candidates and against others?
I have been living in US (lawfully) for more than 22 years. Every time there is a presidential election I look for a female candidate. In all these years after Elizabeth Doyle, for 2008 presidential election Hillary Clinton is another female candidate. I am surprised to learn that America being one of the most progressive country with a democratic government, yet American public can not digest this fact that their female is as capable as any male contender and she can run this country better than or equal to male president. I believe this is high time American’s change their attitude on this issue if they want to maintain their status as so called first world countries.
Since everything being more or less equal in almost all the candidates (Democrat or Republican - I mean source of money, education, experience, etc. ) and if for no other reason to select Hillary then select her only to prove the World that you could also think of going out of the box and LET YOUR FEMELE BE A PRESIDENT. It is high time America, MORE THAN 250 YEARS OF INDEPENDENT DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT, and YOU PEOPLE CAN DO IT IF YOU WANT THAT MUCH I KNOW.
You are all idiots. STOP THE GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION!!!! Open your eyes and see how crappy your canidates are. Vote Ron Paul. There are more stupid people than smart people in this world. Strive to be smart and mae things right. Do your research and quit waiting for the government to do everything for you. You don't need universal health care!! Take care of yourself and exercise! Everyone is so lazy they want all of these free handouts. I am sick of people and their free handouts. Work hard for what you want, not what you think people should give you!
