Obama widens lead in new N.H. poll
A new tracking poll released this evening appears to show the momentum with Barack Obama, just two days before the New Hampshire primary.
The CNN/WMUR survey, conducted Saturday and early today, gave Obama a 39 percent to 29 percent lead over Hillary Clinton, with John Edwards at 16 percent. That represented a 6-percentage-point jump for Obama and a 4-percentage-point drop for Clinton from a day earlier.
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson was fourth with 7 percent.
On the Republican side, the new polling numbers are nearly identical from a day earlier, with John McCain leading Mitt Romney 32 percent to 26 percent. Each is down 1 percentage point.
The more significant change is that Mike Huckabee has moved into third, with 14 percent, over Rudy Giuliani, who has 11 percent. Their numbers were reversed on Saturday.

It's too bad if NH decides to nominate a person, Obama, who says he's for change, but has a lobbyist as his NH Chairman. Who says he's for change, yet accepts money from lobbyists.
Listening to Obama reminds us that we need more substance if we're going to beat the Republicans this time. The Republicans will throw everything they have at him: like swearing on the Koran when he took his oath in the Illinois state senate although he declares himself a Christian, to calling himself pro-choice when in fact he only voted "present" in those votes in the Illinois state senate.
NH might be nominating someone who said that international human rights come before national security (see the Nevada debate transcript). National security should always be #1!
NH might be nominating someone who said he's going to raise taxes (didn't Mondale try that same tactic? Campaign on raising taxes?)
NH might be nominating someone who didn't even care enough to show up for the crucial Iran vote.
NH might be nominating someone who, in 2004, said if he was a US Senator back in 2002, he would have voted FOR the Iraq war.
It's too bad....Democrats are about to nominate someone who, once actually tested, can't stand a chance in the general election.
Hillary is right: you can't just talk about change, but you actually have to work for it. Barack, that means showing up, when you failed to do so.
Barack, that means voting yes or no on issues that might upset some people.
Barack, that means telling us that you believe in the Koran. There is nothing wrong with being a Muslim, but Barack, be honest with us about it.
Barack, that means telling us now what you said in 2004: You would have voted for the Iraq war.
When the Republicans (and the media, since they haven't tested him either yet) start throwing this at him, will Democrats stand a chance???
Good try LK
The Clinton campaign works quickly... fear will do that to you. Stop spreading lies. Obama did NOT take his oath on the Koran. That was a Minnesota congressman last year. Do some research. Some people are so afraid of new ideas and a fresh approach. C'mon people, it can't get much worse than what we've got right now.
Its stuff like that Koran oath nonsense that have pushed me firmly into the Obama camp and there is no way I will vote for Hillary in the primary. If she campaigns that way, she would run the government that way and we've already had 7 years of that type of dishonest government.
"Will he stand a chance?" Hmmm... chances look pretty good right now. ;-) I reckon we'll find out.
The reason he will win, and the reason we so desperately need him to, is that we need to move past exactly the kind of public discourse you're demonstrating, LK — baseless fear-mongering in the place of reasonable and compassionate discourse.
Obama is wise, compassionate, intelligent and reeks of integrity, and he's got my vote.
What a dope LK - Please chceck your facks fbefore you make a fool of yourself

The bottom line question I have to ask about the candidates is 'where have they put their time?' Obama graduated near the top of his class at Harvard and had lots of big money offers on the table, but instead of accepting them he went to work on the south side of Chicago organizing poor neighborhoods to improve conditions. That's integrity, and I can't dismiss it easily.
I actually think highly of Mrs. Clinton as well, but she's too entangled with too much political machinery. I think she's a good woman, but she's not who we need right now.
Obama's got my vote, and LK, a whole lot of people seem to agree with me.
And for goodness sake, check your facts. You've been misled.
This whole Obama thing will blow over. People will realize that his lack of experience (and if you call years in the Illinois legislature and a couple of years in the Senate with no major accomplshments - experience, then good luck to you). Every election someone promises "change" and when those candidates have been elected, they have found that it is not as easy as they tell the American people. We have a divided country right now and the worst thing to happen would be to put a candidate who promises change and accomplishes nothing. I swore that this election I would never vote Republican (I am an independent) but if Obama is nominated, this is one voter who will definitely rethink my decision.
It seems the younger voters have finally decided to get involved, I guess they aren't afraid of registering to vote and then being drafted to Iraq anymore. Bottom line is Obama is a good guy, but he is VERY, and I mean VERY green and far too young and inexperienced to lead this nation in the crisis we are now in. Hillary is the steak dinner we have all waited for and Obama is a chicken frank. Come on people give me a break, the Clintons are awesome, they will turn this country around IMMEDIATELY. Obama is all talk and a HUGE risk we seriously do not need after the disaster that is 8 years of Bush. With Hillary you get someone VERY passionate about America with excellent experience to get to work on day one. With Obama it will take the guy the entire 4 years of a first term to just figure out what to do! are you kidding me? and then what? he gets nothing done and then he is voted out and we end up with another idiot like Bush! yeah JUST what America needs. You Obama people are not using your heads. Talk is CHEAP and so far that is ALL Obama has shown us, Hillary and Bill Clinton both have the creds to get the real work of change done. I am voting for Hillary all the way.

I've long been a fan of the Clinton's LK. But it's the Bush-like dishonesty of their 2007 campaign staffers that has pushed my wife and I into the Obama camp. Your BS is only making it worse, LK. It's going to be a rout on Tuesday. More so than you imagine.
I live in Portsmouth, NH, and I always vote.
So MassConfusion, if I read you right, you said that if Obama were nominated, you'd rethink your decision to vote Democrat? So at least 4 more years of the same old same old. Looks to me like maybe your not such a big fan of change after all. One of these years we'll get it, I hope. Change isn't about just the President, or Congress - it's about ALL of us, working together striving for common goals that will enhance our future, and that of our children. What this population needs more than ever is a leader who can inspire all of us to take the courageous actions we need to in order to fix the mess our country has become.
It is definitely time for a change - But not just any change. I believe it's time for the kind of change that Barack Obama is offering. The smart, compassionate, forward thinking variety. The kind of change that most Americans... not just some Americans... can get behind and be proud of.
Hillary Clinton is an intelligent and strong woman but she represents where America has been - not where we should be going. When she states that Obama shouldn't 'give America false hopes'... she's betting against America - not leading us to better days.
It is time for Barack Obama to lead our country.
"Obama is a Muslim, and Obama is lack of experience!" You know, it is the kind false allegations like these that will make him the first non-white president of these United States. Obama has stand for CHAGE, and some people are afraid of that. I am a white male from the state of Tennessee, and Obama has my vote!!!

Look, folks, if "foreign policy experience" is what the next president needs, then vote for McCain, who is also one of the Iraq blunder's biggest enablers. We all thought that would swing elections in our "post-9/11" society, but John Kerry, with foreign policy experience oozing out of his pores, lost to an incompetent man who had never left North America prior to seizing power.
Obama may be green, but to think that he will waltz into the White House without a seasoned cabinet is absurd. I guess if you agree with our foreign policy up to this point, then go with the status quo foreign policy candidates. If you think we're on a fast track to hell, then Obama is your man.
Hello, I have been voting since 1950 and have seen many people run for president and start out fast but still end up last. Hillary Clinton will still win and I'll tell you why. Woman will see to it that she wins. This country needs the sensitivy of a woman. A women in Illinois call in and had this to say. OBoma did nothing in this state and the people know that he is just hot air and she will compagin for Hillary Clinton. Florida and California will also vote for Hillary. We need the best person with the best background in politics to be in the White House. A greenhorn will never get to first base in Washington D.C.. Hillary has the years of experience and knowledge to set this country on the right course to recovery. Listen to what a great grandfather is telling you and vote for Hillary and in doing so you will see this
country go in the right direction. Don't be fooled by a smooth talker becouse you will be dissapointed if you do.
From the debate my biggest takeaway...HRC came across as hurt that the people may actually deny her what she and her retinue believe is her destiny.
This election is about the relevance of a federal government in a world run by corporations; about whether we judge our nation's economic success by the size of corporate profits and Wall Street bonuses or by the well being of all the citizenry; whether we continue to hold a myopic view of our imperialistic ways in a shrinking global village or work towards finding new ways to express economic and social durability for all on the planet.
HRC belongs to the 20th century, not the 21st! I'm 56 years old and seeing Obama on Saturday took me back to the days of Gene and Bobby in '68.
It seems to me most of the media(s) are anti Hillary Clinton
Whenever her rival attacks her, the media applaus the critiszism, but whenever Hillary fight back, the media stire up the crowds to mock at her. If Hillary Clinton is not suppose or rather no allow to criticize her rival, then, what sort of campaign she allow to run ? CHANGE!? HOPE?! no matter for good or bad? NO NO NO!
Look what G W Bush has change the country, havoc! that what it is!!!
In the era of 21st century, compare to India, Britain, even Parkistan, America still not ready to accept a capable, reliable women to be the US President. Isnt she has enough of experience (by watching or intitial by her husband , some issue successfully done on her own and so many years of public sevice) .
LK -- you are a cynical Clinton operative. We are going to wiper her out, and I am going to love every second of it. Authenticity counts!
It seems to me there is an anti Hillary Clinton spre is going on - the media !
Whenever her rival attacks her, the media will applaus and stire up the crowds to to the same . Good luck America !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a panic and hysteric reactions from Clinton camp! Cool down people and control your emotion.
Since the poll started showing Obama leading Clinton by digit there is a lot of panic out there! I never believe to so call “national poll” that showed Clinton with 20 or 30% lead over Obama. It means nothing!
No matter what anti-Obama is claiming here, the man is the only one capable to defeat any Republican in the general election. So, Clinton supporters seat tight and watch your next defeat coming this Tuesday. OBAMA has my vote.

To my American hosts and hostesses: speaking as an outsider (international grad. student) I would strongly urge you to vote for change. It is a fact that Clinton is too entangled with the establishment to bring real change to your country.
What's more? You have a system that works and that will ensure you get the change you demand.
My countrymen and women voted for change in December 2007. We wanted to cast the establishment into the sea. Unfortunately for us, the election was compromised and now my country is in chaos.
So America, take your chance and run!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone remember Whitewater? Isn't it very odd that neither Obama nor Edwards has stooped to a smear campaign like we'd see in the fall with Hillary at the helm? Jim Demers (co-chair of Obama's campaign) actually represents only 2 pharmaceudicals in the NH Legislature along with around a dozen OTHER clients - not at all related to drug companies & do you think Demers has given Obama money as a lobbyist? doubtful - Demers ran for Congress a few years back, and has been involved in Democratic politics in NH for a long time - he needs a day job = he's a long way from staging standup dinners for Congressmen in DC)
Going back further than Whitewater, does anyone remember JFK & RFK? We need to be thanking whatever God we believe in that there is finally a voice for Americans whom we can be proud to send around the World. Barack is right - it actually TAKES WORDS to inspire - action is MUCH TOUGHER in Washington, but it will get easier with a Dem in the WH & a Dem Congress (at least one house). WORDS have a magical impact - "Ask not what your country can do for you . . ." And you know what? The same "wordsmith" (JRK) kept us out of a nuclear explosion with the USSR over the Cuban missile crisis? And so would Barack Obama, if he had been there.
Sure folks...we can vote for experience over change. That's what we've done in the past. Look at what it got us: Nixon, Reagan, Bush. Experience doesn't necessarily equate to intelligence. Someone can be very experienced in their very ineptness. But that's not a positive! Dubya is a very good example of that.
Our country does need change...in the worst possible way. We cannot continue to demonstrate the same inept ways of thinking and acting and expect the results to ever be different than the status quo. I am ready for a man like Obama who is willing to look anew at our challenges. Someone who is not so ingrained with the powerful Washington infrastructure that he still has the ability and guts to ask, "Is there a better way we can do this?" We need someone who can think outside of the box--and see our possibilities rather than our limitations.
So those of you who are steeped in the dogma of experience, please move out of the way...as Sam Cooke once sang, "a change is gonna come." And that's a train you're not going to be able to stop.

Edwards seems to be only one of the lot that is not for sale. I'm tired of big business running this country. He's got fire in his belly and my vote. Let's get behind Edwards!
After Obama suggested sending troops into Pakistan recently, fueling the fire of instability there, I had to question his attacks against Clinton for her war vote. His irresponsible threats of force undermined his credibility as a better wartime candidate in my opinion, as a security studies student at Georgetown. We need a good way home, not backwards; Clinton is the candidate with the way. When he has more experience, I would love to vote for him. Obama 2016!
Yeah "this whole Obama thing will blow over."
In about 9 years.
Go Barack !
Here is what will happen, you can quote me on this:
Hillary will lose by 8 points to Obama in New Hampshire.
However, New Hampshire is dominated by Independents - Nevada folks is not. Hillary is actually doing better among Democrats in New Hampshire. However, Barack does far better with independents.
Hillary will win Michigan b/c she is the only one on the ballot essentially, with Mike Gravel and others, but Barack and Edwards are not even on the ballot b/c the state's vote doesn't count. Even if the state does not count, she will still get a boost from Michigan as a moral victory.
Hillary will likely lose the Culinary Endorsement in Nevada. She very well might lose Nevada as well as his groundwork is substantially better.
HOWEVER: She could pull the upset in Nevada and the son of Harry Reis the Chariman in Nevada. Obama will win South Carolina because the 50% of the electorate is black.
Keep in mind and do not forget, that the Republicans will aboslutely demolish a candidate with 1 year of Senatoral experience and a candidate that has missed 83% of his Senatoral votes. He has not done diddly compared to the resume of others.
Hillary is all but counted out - however, when Super Tuesday comes on February 5th, she will strike it big. She will win California, New York and Florida - yes, Florida and it will be known as Black Tuesday for Barack Obama.
Obama being a front runner this early is the WORST thing that can happen to him. Hillary Clinton being an underdog will be more affecting when no one is giving her a chance on Tuesday than she will be as a favorite.
Personally, I prefer a "doer" rather than a "talker". I've seen "talkers" all my life, I'd rather get results.
Frankly, this is the best thing that can happen to Hillary, let Barack be the front runner and take some hits for a while, but she will do better in an underdog role.
I've enjoyed reading the board - great stuff. thanks.
As a Canadian, I don't really understand the problems the US is facing, or what issues have the greatest potential to galvanize Democrats and win elections. That said, here are some observations from your Northern neighbor:
1. Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton. She is further to the left or many issues (health care, gay rights, etc.) and, accordingly, is even more hated by conservatives than her wayward husband. She also seems to lack Bill's easy manner, and the ability to zero in on economic issues like he did back in '92.
2. Obama cleans Hilary's clock when it comes to moderates and independants. These are the people that decide elections. Barak Obama might be more electable that the former First Lady.
3. Neither candidate can credibly point to having "experience". As I recall, Hillary Clinton was not ELECTED First Lady. If you really wanted EXPERIENCE, y'all should have voted for Bidden or Dodd.
This country is doomed. You know it, we all know it.
As a permanent resident of the US. I was nuetral between Obama and Clinton.
Lately with the dirty underhanded tactics with the Clinton campaigne, and Hillary's breakdown (more like emotional blackmail), I am swaying. Mrs. Clinton is weak. Better yet I believe she is not the one in control. She is just a means of getting Bill back in the whitehouse. Why I say this? Well look at how Clinton faded at NH last rally and Bill took over and started attacking Obama calling him "a fairytale"
I am sorry Americans but if you all want change then it is up to you. The past is the past. Leave it there. Run for change like my country has. After decades of being under ruthless control of one party we have finally been liberated. Change (things getting done FOR REAL) was swift and surprising to the older population. The young generation stepped up and casted out the "experienced" who did nothing but lost us our jobs, healthcare and devalued our money. I hope America will do the same for themselves.
Mrs. Clinton is the past. She is tied to a past. And looking from the outside in I have finally read inbetween the lines. Obama would have gotten my vote if I could vote. He really is new hope for you and children. JMO
I haven't heard much about what obama will do , I know he can give a great sermon, but in this election, talk is not gonna solve the country's many problems, change could be what I have in my pocket, (sometimes) or what occurs when I remove my pant's, but when it comes to the nut's and bolts of change, I'm backing HILLARY HALLEUJAH!
