Romney makes last stops in Iowa
By Michael Levenson, Globe Staff
DES MOINES -- With only hours to go before Iowans flock to caucuses, Mitt Romney is trying to lighten things up with a little humor.
"Tensions are getting high," Romney told employees at Principal Financial Group this morning. "I saw just the other day the chairman of Governor's Huckabee's campaign said he'd like to knock my teeth out. My only comment on that is -- don't touch the hair."
He got a good laugh from the several hundred employees. Romney was referring to remarks by Ed Rollins, the chairman of Mike Huckabee's campaign, who told the Washington Post: "What I have to do is make sure that my anger with a guy like Romney, whose teeth I want to knock out, doesn't get in the way of my thought process."
Romney was back in his element in the wood-paneled corporate auditorium. He talked about his experience as a venture capitalist and consultant and vowed to forge a "new generation of solutions to the challenges we face," particularly economic competition from Asia.
"We're in a battle for the best jobs in the world....It's taken a new twist," Romney said. "Now, we're competing with China and India, large populations, many of them well-educated, hard-working....We're going to have to raise the bar here, were going to have bring new solutions to be competitive."

I voted for Bush twice. That was a big mistake. This time I'm supporting Ron Paul. I believe that if you do your research you will find that he is the Peoples' Candidate. I hope that you will take the time to check out Dr. Paul's record, funding sources & grass roots backing. Unlike all the other candidates he is not promising us anything but our liberty, our freedom! That is the only true job of our government...
Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Iowans,
This evening you have the unique opportunity to decide which of our candidates moves forward. You have heard every campaign ad imaginable, and tonight is make or break time. Please consider Mitt Romney. Please do not fall for the underhanded and sneaky tactics of Huckabee, who knew from the beginning that his attack ad would receive national attention if he decided not to run it. Please understand that he has not refuted Mitt's compare/contrast ads because they are true. And please understand that the lies in his attack ad are abundant. For instance, Mitt never ordered an execution in Mass. because they are against the law there. He also left the state with an abundance of money in the Massachusettes bank account because of his management skills, not debt as Huckabee is not being truthful about.
Iowans, you are too smart to vote for Huckabee. Please see him for who he really is!!
We love you Iowa!!!!
I just can't understand why so many newspapers are endorsing Mccain. Aren't they supposed to be neutral on these issues? Its also interesting to know that there seems to be a lot of governors endorsing Romney. The people who's opinions should matter the most. What is it about Romney that people don't like? His main criticism seems to be that he is a flip flopper, that he changed he view on abortion and gay marriage. Everything else about him, people seem to agree that he has all the talent, and the most qualified to be president. I have heard his view on abortion, and I truly believe he has always been against it. I also admire him for not trying to pry is personal religious views into politics, especially in a democratic state such as Massachusetts, where they were not going to agree with such a stance. I feel this has been the same issue for his view on gay marriage. So when he voices his opinion and runs on a anti abortion ticket to the white house, and this is what you want in a president, what is wrong with changing his stance and fighting for something he believes in a little harder, rather than fighting in vain in a Massachusetts?
Romney is by far the best candidate for president on either side of the aisle. Has a proven record of success, is decent, stable, conservative. If we don't hire this guy to run the country, we are fools.
Huckabee is a disaster. Please, Iowa, wake up. If you want him to be your pastor, fine, but he has no chance to be president. Thank goodness!
Mitt Romney has the leadership skills and business experience to be a great president. He is also a moral and ethical person with a great family. It is impossible to find a candidate with whom one agrees on every issue. Mitt Romney appears, however, to be a concensus builder and a team builder. We desperately need cooperation and team work in Washington instead of the bickering and positioning that is the status quo.
Mitt Romney has been criticised for his religion. It seems ironic that Huckabee's rise has been because of his evangelical christian supporters. How about a President for all people and not any particular special interest group. Iowans vote for Romney!
Romney is the epitomy of what is wrong with this world. Corps vote profit, not ethics. He'll get jobs for pharmaceutical and oil and other lobbies but not for the environment, where we need it most, because that would be unpopular with his base and against the profits of the lobbies that support him. MItt is slick. He is blinded by his Party and his need to get their support. He can't see the reasl problems or that the ways to correct them have never been a party of the conservative ethic. Real people hate politics but the system, like the Federal Reserve and multi-nationals,own us.
Hello Iowans:
Although, the last minutes polls show Obama ahead follow by Edward and last Mrs. Clinton. Apparently, Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor January 3, 2008 12:52 PM have sided with Obama, but Obama, Edward and Rhee should pray harder because Mrs. Clinton will take Iowa, without a doubt in my mind.
Mrs. Clinton not only is the most experience candidate, but she have confronted hard making decisions during her course of her life. One's does not become experience because you are born with a "silver" spoon in your mouth, contrary to that myth, Mrs. Clinton had to fight all the way to the position she is now.
Now, for unexpected reasons, Obama takes Iowa, and in doing so, means the defeat of the Democratic Party on November because forks like me, (there are millions) who are born Democrats will cross over to the Republican Party and vote for their candidate for president. A lot of forks like me, will cross over to the Republican Party because they, including my family of 19 votes, would not vote for Mr. Obama, and the Republican would be in power for another four years.
Did any of these people who claim Rommey will make such a great president and list all of his supposedly wonderful attributes ever live in Massachusetts during his disastrous administration? I doubt it. I think they are in for a rude awakening next month--along with Mitt--when Massachusetts holds its primary and they see that even Republicans from his own state don't want him for president.

I believe that rational minds in Iowa will want to send a candidate
on that has the capacity to win on a national level. Huckabee,
outside of the evangelical umbrella, will be pelted by a multi-faith
and more secular national demographic. Romney's address on faith
answers all of the questions to be asked about his loyalties and will
play on and on as he moves toward the nomination. Unfortunately for
Mike Huckabee, his pandering to religious right and recent
ill-conceived attack/turn-the-other-cheek strategies would follow him
into the next phase and primary.
