Romney plans to air closing message tonight
Taking a page out of the leading Democratic candidates' playbook in Iowa, Mitt Romney's campaign announced this morning it will air an extended TV ad tonight on the eve of the New Hampshire primary.
In the 2-minute spot, titled "Tomorrow," (watch it here) Romney embraces change, claims that he's the only candidate who has brought change "in the real world," says he's the one to make things happen in Washington, and interestingly, never says he is a Republican.
"This is an important moment in our nation's history," he says. "There's a tide of change sweeping New Hampshire and America. Everywhere I go people say Washington is broken. And they know that those who've spent their careers in Washington can't change Washington.
"For decades, they've heard Washington politicians say they would reduce our dependence on foreign oil," Romney continues. "They haven't. For years, they said they'd fix our schools. They haven't. For years, they said they'd fix healthcare. They haven't. And for just as many years, they've said they'd secure our borders. They haven't.
"It's long past time to bring real change to Washington. That's never going to happen if all we do is send the same people back to Washington to sit in different chairs. We need new energy, we need new ideas, and we need new leaders. We need people who can turn around Washington.
"I'm the only candidate for president who's done that in the real world. I've done it in business, at the Olympics, and as governor. I'm going to bring that real world turnaround experience with me to Washington.
In the ad, Romney tells voters that their choice in Tuesday's primary is momentous.
"Your vote tomorrow is going to affect your job, your children's schools, and how long you sit in the doctor's waiting room. But it's also going to determine whether America will continue to lead the world as the great superpower it is today. We're going to see more dramatic change in the next decade than we've seen in our entire lifetimes.
"How will all the change affect you? Will someone in China or India take your job? Or will your job be selling American products to them? Will your children fear attack from violent Jihadists? Or will they be safe and secure in a stronger America? America needs to get ready for these and many other new challenges. There isn't a single challenge we can't overcome with the spirit, determination and imagination that has always been at the heart of the American people.
"If you want to change Washington, and get America ready for the future, America needs you now. I'm Mitt Romney, and I not only approve this message, I'm asking for your vote."

Romney won the FOX debate last night. The liberal spin is attempting to push McCain in New Hampshire because he is weak on illegal migration, national security, health care reforms and economic growth in America. There may be a nasty turn of events for McCain on Tuesday.
Agreed...Romney won the debate...and should win this primary. He's concise, articulate, and actually gives examples (unlike the others with the generalities and poilitico-speak). Romney has the message that appeals to me as a true conservative, and he has articulated detail which makes him appear well prepared and thought-out compared to the platitude filled McCain (who simply put us to sleep last night). We need fresh blood in there. Romney is our guy, now more than ever.
Romney calls himself a Washington outsider? Come on, his daddy ran for president, just like George W.'s, only difference is Romney's dad lost. HIm pretending to be an ordinary fellow is as phony as Bush or Kerry's, the elite GOP loves him because like Bush he is rich and has no problems screwing the working people (see what his company did to EXPORT American jobs). Huckabee knows what it is like to be a normal working person, and McCain knows what it is like to be a patriot. If Romney believes so much in our military, why he was eating baguettes in France while real, working class Americans were fighting?
If Romney wins we all win. I have never had an opportunity to vote for a President that brings more potential executive leadership to the table then does Romney. He is talking issues, the others are talking, and doing a pretty good job at it, like the humorous likable Huckabee. If we want someone funny to lead the Nation my votes goes to Jay Leno, if we want a proven leader my vote is going to Romney.
I'm so impressed with Romney. I supported him before the New Hampshire debate/forum, but now I'm even moreso behind him. Many people I speak with are looking at him with new eyes.
Romney for 2008!!
Romney blows McCain out of the water on the issues every time they go head to head. There is no way that a 72 year old president (who would be 80 years old!! at the end of his second term) can even begin to compete against Romney's youth, intelligence and command of important issues. McCain himself said he'd be a lame duck going into office if he didn't stick it out for 2 terms--- Not pretty.....
Geriatric McCain = Amnesty + Higher Taxes No thanks---- I'm ready for change.
Romney has a proven track record as a leader- he is a brilliant bussinesman- Romney can and will beat any democratic nominee! I have never campaigned for any canidate before today- Go Mitt
Romeny vs Taxarack Obama
Not a tough decision
What's going on with Mccain getting so much support in NH?
I think it's coming from independents because republicans have never and will never forgive him for his amnesty bill, mccain feingold and all of the other mistakes he has made.
I thought the GOP threw him under the bus a long time ago. Now it is clear that we should have backed that bus up a couple of times to make sure he was dead. (politically speaking)
As a NH republican voter I detest john Mccain and would never vote for him. I hope Mitt Romney puts an end to John Mccain's presidential aspirations tomorrow and we never have to hear from that crazy old coot again.
"John", no matter how you look at it Romney IS a Washington outsider. His dad was never elected president was he? Romney has never held office in Washington has he? Did he say he was a "regular guy" like Huckabee? Huckabee is about as "regular" as a guy that eats beans 3 times a day. Do you want a president that talks like that? His narrow accomplishments are exagerated and he doesn't come close to the qualifications of Romney, nor McCain for that matter.
I'm not from the US, lived in 8 different countries, speak 7 languages, soon will have a degree in Politics and International Relations and I can tell you that the rest of the world would rather not have Romney as your president.
If you want best for The United States of America then VOTE FOR ROMNEY. If you want to make the rest of the world content then vote for McCain.
Why didnt the media cover the Wyoming vote on the weekend? Romney blew away his rivals and took at least 8 delegates ( possibly 10). This is more than McCain will get in New Hampshire even if he wins. Romney is leading with the most number of convention delegates now and the media is not reporting this.
Even if he comes second in NH he will still be in the lead and he has the resources to compete all the way to the end. His weath and his financial resources are nothing to be ashamed of. He earned his money and is getting flak for spending it on his campaign. Obama has spent about the same and gets no criticism.
I'm not sure that any Republican can beat Obama. But if there's one who can, I strongly believe its Mitt Romney. I just don't see any of the others having a ghost of a chance.
I've been leaning toward Mitt for some time now. Last night's forum sealed the deal for me.
Mitt, was a part time governor for two years of his four year term. He did not care about his state, he only cared about one thing; getting what his father could not. How many changes and epiphanies can a man have at his age? He'll will say or do anything to get elected. State police arresting illegals? another 1/2 truth, they only got the power to do so for a month or two. If he wanted to get real results, he should have implemented this policy before he had one foot out the door.
Republican values? I guess service to his country is not one of his. FIVE sons, and not one of them felt a call to duty to serve our country. Their contribution to the service our country was to work on his campaign, yeah right, that’s values.
Willard a.k.a Mitt, has a platform a mile wide and an inch deep.
Romney's more of a flip-flop on issues than I've seen in decades. His money isn't going to buy him this election, that's for sure.
OMIT MITT in '08 and save us all!
The anti-Romney crowd seems to always speak in generalities and emotion based debate. Cynical sarcasm and personal jabs...wise cracks and speculation.
I like Mitt, respect him...the guy doesn't need this job as president (or the paycut)...but I really like that he is running. If he can't fix our problems...who the heck can?
And for guys like McCain...what would he ever do if he didn't have a job in Washington...well, we may never know, I guess.
I keep hearing Mitt Romney touting how he turned around the state of Massachusetts while he was governor. I've lived in Boston for 15 years and I have no idea what he thinks he turned around.
3 Things to note -
The real power in Mass is in the overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. Any turnaround would be testament to them not the governor. But honestly there was no tunraround. We weren't in the dumps when he too over and we're not flying high now. Overall, it was a pretty stagnant and stale reign for Governor Romney.
His reign as governor was virtually absentee for the last 2 years.
The Republican Party has held the governorship in Mass since Weld was governor - and extraordinary run considering the overwhelmingly Democratic electorate in Mass. Romney ended that.
Hey TMR, Mitt's sons did not VOLUNTEER (key word) Did Huckabee or his sons? did chelsea clinton? the bush twins? obama? rudy? My taxes went DOWN while he was my Governor.
How is McCain weak on national security?
Also, I missed the Fox debate, but I saw the ABC debate on Saturday, and Romney looked like an angry baby, and came out looking overwhelmingly bad. His "no, no, no, wait! I get a chance to respond to that," was almost as embarrassing as Hillary Clinton's "I have brought change" freakout later that night.
Also, i amazes me that you people are posting on Boston.com about how great Romney is. It makes me assume you lived in this state during his tenure. You may recall he was only actually in the state 1 out of every 3 days, and has virtually nothing positive to show for except being part of the health care reform, which was HEAVILY influenced by the Democratic legislature.
The only other changes I noticed were increases in T fairs while service continued to deteriorate under private rule and more limited hours at libraries. Where were you living?
MITT ROMNEY is the best presidential candidate this country has ever had in my lifetime. He is focused on the real issues and has the brains and skills to fix our problems. Unlike most of the other candidates, he tells the truth and has real answers to real problems. The ONLY THING I WORRY ABOUT is the abuse the liberals will give him if he wins the general election! I'm a dentist in California, and I approve of this comment.
Romney seems very cool under pressure and that's a good quality. McCain look like he was loing to pop a vein on Saturday night. It was reminiscent of Bob Dole.
Last March Sen.John McCain, Obama, Hillary joined the Democrats and some Republicans to allow a path to citizenship for upwards of 20 million illegal foreign born aliens. The term AMNESTY was not used, but a meager fine, learning some English and not having a criminal record as such, promoted more or less instant recognision as a permanent residence, while hundreds of thousands of honest, sincere foreigners waited patiently to be legalised correctly. Personally, I saw something wrong with this Comprehensive Immigration bill, when people who broke the "Rule of Law" in the first place. How should these illegal aliens get priority over individuals, who paid their dues of filling in the paperwork, having a medical check-up and be investigated by the FBI. This is very disturbing to me that the majority of the American people said a resounding "NO". Why are our politicians so committed to force on innocent taxpayers, even more unfair taxes to pay for pariah employers who hire illegal slave labor?
OUR NATION NEEDS ROMNEY! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ALL ROUND CANDIDATE! Why does the media ignore his Wyoming win? Why don't they acknowledge that even if McCain were to come out a bit ahead in N.H., Romney will have more delegates. Isn't that what counts??? McCain doesn't stand a chance against Romney in the west. Are there not 50 states in America!?

If McCain became president he would be 80 years old at the end of his second term. If he only served one term he would be a lame duck to begin with!!
