Mitt Romney's campaign announced this evening that it raised about $5 million during a day-long phone-a-thon at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
But only about $1.5 million of the total can be used for the primary race, with the remainder only allowed to be spent during the general election. And the haul was shy of the $6.5 million a similar event raised last January.
About 500 volunteers from across the country secured money from about 10,000 donors, the campaign said.

Fantastic! Mitt people !!!!! I think it is time for the pundits to be still and let the candidates speak for themselves. The media needs to report the news and STOP commenting on it. Shhhhhhhhh media be quiet and let the candidates tell their own records and stories. The pundits had it all wrong in New Hampshire. That was a bit embarrrasing for you. Let this race take its natural course.
We have experienced the media (TV. Radio, Newspapers, magazines) being unfair to several candidates and they have certainly had their "little darlings" too. How unfair to the American people to have to listen to "spin" from the media.
Note: CBS NH debate was well done and the best this year. I do appreciate their informal approach.
He raised, $3.5 million that he can't even use until the general election! He has a strong base of wealthy men who already donated the max to his campaign so he hit them up for more money. This tells me that Romney is in dire straits, according to the FEC Q3 stats his campaign is already $8 million in debt and he's spent $17 million of his own money. I guess he's literally banking on winning the GOP nomination. Do you really want a guy in the White House who's is this fiscally irresponsible?
$5 million in one day and he can't even use it, what a joke!
Let's see now, what did Hillary raise following the New Hampshire Primary? I believe I read $185,000. Or was it $175,000? If she can use the same proportions of those funds, what does that give HER in new money? Diddly squat, is what.
