A little ribbing on the Senate floor

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor February 7, 2008 11:55 AM

In the chummy club that is the US Senate, it's nigh impossible to avoid running into political allies and enemies alike.

So Hillary Clinton, back in Washington to vote on the economic stimulus package on Wednesday, bumped into Senator Edward M. Kennedy on the Senate floor. And according to the Wall Street Journal, she couldn't help but gig him and her rival for the Democratic nomination, Barack Obama.

Clinton handily won the Massachusetts primary on Tuesday -- despite Kennedy's high-profile endorsement of Obama, including a joint appearance at a massive rally in Boston on Monday night.

According to the Journal's account today, Clinton ribbed Obama that she had "a big sigh of relief" when Kennedy endorsed him. Before the vote, of course, the Clinton camp was very worried about the Kennedy endorsement.
