Bill Clinton votes for his wife

NEW YORK – Admittedly, after spending several days on the road with as few as three hours of sleep some nights, and anticipating being up most of tonight, we did not get up at 5 a.m. today in order to go watch Hillary and Bill Clinton vote in their hometown of Chappaqua, N.Y.

But we just watched the video taken this morning by hardier souls in television, in this case at ABC, who had no choice but to get up and film the event. We were surprisingly moved by Bill Clinton’s brief remarks.

He has taken a lot of heat in recent weeks for being so rough on Barack Obama. His own legacy, certainly, is tied up in her victory. But this was also a reminder that, presumably, he also really wants this for her.

Clinton put his hand over his heart and said, with all his trademark earnestness, “It was one of the proudest moments of my life.”

“One of the proudest moments of my life,” he repeated. “I was really honored to do it.”
