Can you help a superdelegate out?

Posted by Sasha Issenberg February 18, 2008 02:49 PM

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Congresswoman Gwen Moore has found an easy way out of the ruminations over whether Democratic superdelegates should vote according to personal preference or that of their constituents. In tomorrow’s primary, Moore implored fellow Obama supporters, they can just vote according to her conscience.

“Don’t embarrass me, y’all. You better show up!” Moore said, before introducing Michelle Obama at a speech today at a downtown theatre. “I’m a superdelegate, and I don’t want to be in the position of trying to overwhelm the will of the people, so make sure the will of the people is with me!”

  1. The statement Michelle Obama made yesterday spoke volumes. She should be ashamed of herself and perhaps apologize to America. Still, even with an apology said, the damage Michelle Obama has done will remain in our hearts forever. If Obama becomes the official runner in November's election the Hillary supporters wont be along his side. Like McCain, Hillary and her party followers can say they are proud of America. There is no warm fuzzy, Obama and his wife have made it very clear how they feel about Hillary and it isn't all pleasant. I hope Hillary hangs in there but if she doesn't make it to the elections this voter will support McCain.

  1. This is a very disturbing comment. Yes, our country is not perfect, however, I am very proud to live here, we do not know how lucky we are to be here. We can pretty much say and do as we like, most countries can't even do that. So, if Michelle O'Bama is going to make a comment like that, then why does she live here? Do we want a first lady who feels as she does living in the White House?

  1. Was Mrs. Barack Hussein Obama not proud of her country for enacting Affrimative Action Laws that may have allowed her to enter Harvard Law School over other more intelligent, better qualified, and hard working individuals of other races.

It's very clear what the veiled thinking is behind the borrowed rhetoric of Barack Obama: another Muslim black politician with a sever chip on his shoulder. His bid for the white house is not about uniting the country or what you can do for your country but about what he can do to use the country to champion his own personal agenda. This seals it for me. If he is the candidate this democratic is campaigning for McCain.

  1. A lot of people of color - hispanics, asians, blacks, indians, basically anyone not considered a mix of "caucasion" (ironic that it's a mix) are not identified as being people of mainstream identities and, therefore, are not considered ideal Americams. This idealism is what the middle class non=caucasion American born individual was taught to believe. As a [rior reader pointed out, 40 years ago children were sold, fire hoses and dogs were turned on African Americans, civil rights fighters were lynched and assassinated, in the south Black kids couldn't play on the same Little League team or swim at the same municipal pool as White kids. I hav e to say, that not to the extreme, but Mexican children and adults prejudism to the same extent of shame and injustice. Now, lets put things into perspective. A black woman. Obama's wife, says she is finally proud to be an American and what happens. Again, the caucasion society misconscrues the message! We really need to help them understand that it is not their view of society that mandates perspective any longer so, for maybe the first time in their life time, make an effort to understand the underlying messages because the rest of us "GOT IT", understood it, didn't question it, weren't insulted by it - why didn't you and why did it insult you???? My take is - you still don't get it! We no longer live in your puritan world and you can no longer force your influence. Come on board and dont' fight it! The world is moving around you and, just because your anscestors may have had the power, don't., for a moment, think that it's your natural priveledge to behave and think the same way. Change is here...'bout time!
