Globe archives: McCain pressed FCC in case involving major contributor

A New York Times report alleging a close relationship between Republican presidential candidate John McCain and lobbyist Vicki Iseman dominated headlines today.

But McCain's pressuring of the FCC on a case involving Paxson Communications, one of Iseman's clients and a McCain contributor, was detailed nearly eight years ago in a Boston Globe article entitled "McCain pressed FCC in case involving major contributor". Here's a taste:

McCain, in his bluntly worded Dec. 10 letter to the FCC, did not urge a vote favoring the contributor, Paxson Communications. McCain rejected the Times' report, denying any romantic involvement with Iseman and maintaining he never did favors for special interests or lobbyists.
