No Lieberman vote for McCain

Posted by Sasha Issenberg February 4, 2008 09:17 AM

BOSTON -- Joe Lieberman, John McCain's most prominent supporter in Connecticut, still can't vote for his man in tomorrow’s primary.

In 2006, the then-Democratic senator lost his party's primary but prevailed in the general election as an independent. Today, Lieberman styles himself an "independent Democrat," but voter-registration forms have little room for such vagaries: in Connecticut, primaries are closed to members of the opposing party.

"I won’t vote in the Democratic primary because I’m supporting John, but I can't vote in the Republican primary," Lieberman said. "I’m blocked."

So Lieberman will stay home on Tuesday, the first time he could ever remember skipping a vote. "I may have missed by a fluke a local election," Lieberman said Sunday night, while joining McCain to watch the Super Bowl at a Boston hotel.

we're all blocked out from voting
    for the party machine.

I'll never cow-tow to the parties ever again.

  1. If the choice is McCain vs. Clinton I would encourage EVERYONE to look at a third party just to make a statement.

    The nominees suck.

  1. I am a republican and I will never vote for McCain! Does anyone remember what a jerk he was 4 years ago when President Bush was running for re-election? McCain was on all the networks strutting around trying to act like he had all the answers and slamming President Bush! McCain was disgusting - how he was so divisive and egotistical! He is a short old man with a military attitude. He has no diplomacy; he can't pull people together. He is a hot head. I will not vote for him. I don't know what to do with my vote. I wish someone would step in and run as an independent candidate or I guess I could vote for Hillary. I won't vote for Baraack Hussein Obama either!
