Obama also breaks $100 million barrier

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor February 1, 2008 10:29 AM

The headlines from the last-minute filers among the presidential candidates:

Barack Obama, who boasted Thursday about raising $32 million just during January, brought in slightly less than his main rival for all of 2007. He reported raising $27 million during the last three months and about $102 million total, and said he had $19 million in the bank. That compares to Hillary Clinton's figures of $27 million for the fourth quarter, $107 million overall, and $38 million in cash on hand as of Dec. 31.

By contrast, John Edwards, who dropped out this week from the Democratic race, reported raising only $4.8 million during October, November, and December, bringing his total take to $35 million. Edwards accepted public financing.

Ron Paul's fund-raising continues to far outpace his standing in the polls among Republicans. He reported raising nearly $20 million during the fourth quarter, bringing his total to $28.2 million. He had $7.8 million in the bank.

  1. Hey, you're not supposed to cover Ron Paul unless it's negative and you call him a long-shot, fringe nutcase. Didn't you get the memo? Sheesh.

  1. Better Judgement:

Obama keeps going to "it comes down to judgement". He is talking about the vote for/against authorization to go to war in Iraq. It is time he should get off that mantra. How could he be making comparison with a decision on which he was not qualified to make under the circumstances. HE WAS NOT YET A SENATOR!!

We do not know what decision he would have made. Then again, maybe we know. He tends to take the cowardly way out on a tough decision-making question. He is either absent or "present".
