Obama cites Iraq opposition as credential to be commander in chief
Barack Obama, responding to a new TV ad from rival Hillary Clinton that suggests that he is not ready to be commander in chief and answer the middle-of-the-night call in the White House, emphasized his opposition to the Iraq war.
"That's the kind of judgment I intend to show when I answer the call in the White House," he said at a campaign event in Houston today. "....That's the judgment we need at 3 a.m."
On the Iraq war, he said, "Senator Clinton gave the wrong answer. George Bush gave the wrong answer. Senator McCain gave the wrong answer."
Obama also emphasized his support for veterans, saying that the nation has a "sacred trust" with those who have served the country.
He said the Bush administration has let that trust fray, and he pledged to fully fund healthcare for veterans.
"We are not serving our troops and our veterans as well as they have served us," Obama said, saying that some of the most inspiring people he has ever met are injured and maimed soldiers.
"I'm running for commander in chief on a record of standing up for our wounded warriors."

OBAMA.....the Rove-Bush Candidate....and the Republicans cross-over voting and big $$$ contributions are working!

Bush-Cheney strategy involves G.O.P. crossover voting to take out Hillary, marketing newcomer Obama, a possible "independent" ticket

Barack's campaign is supposedly about the future, but when it comes to foreign policy, the "news" he has for John McCain and the rest of America is a speech he gave 6 years ago when he had no responsibility on the national stage -- a speech he betrayed the moment he arrived in the Senate and voted to fund the war, giving Bush everything he requested without preconditions. Setting up no-obligation photo-ops with dictators he doesn't even begin to understand is not in America's interests. Surely he has learned a lot on the campaign trail, but at the cost of showing a lack of leadership in the Senate. He and his gorgeous family can learn a lot more living at No. 1 Observatory Circle for 8 years cleaning up Dick Cheney's house. By then he'll be ready to take the helm.
CLINTON-OBAMA '08
One of the key arguments in Mr.Obama’s speech is that he has better judgment on issues. Well, I am finding more and more on this topic.
a) One of the biggest possessions an average person has is his/her house. It’s where you raise your family and watch your kids grow. In Mr. Obama’s case the purchase was subsidized by Mr.Rezko’s and his wife and also got help purchasing the adjacent property next to it. Talk about judgment, he knew Mr.Rezko was under federal investigation when this happened.
b) He gave a speech saying no to war but when it did mattered like his senate campaign he was for war. It’s easy to vote no when you don’t have responsibilities and facts in front of you.
c) He was for NAFTA when he ran for senate now he wants to re-negotiate it.
d) He did took money from lobbyist when he ran for senate
e) His association to the Trinity church
All these are coming out this late because I don’t think he was tested on his campaign for his senate seat. The original candidate dropped out due to some personnel issues, and then they have to bring in another candidate from out of state at the last minute. If the Rep’s can derail a decorated veteran and less liberal than Mr. Obama, personally I think he has no shot in November as more and more things comes out.
States which have not voted yet please do the right thing.
If that was the criteria for Commander in Chief, millions of Americans would qualify. Even Obama wouldn't believe that statement he made.
The choice is clear that Senator Obama is what we need to bring this country back together. His association to the Trinity church should not deter any American from voting for Barack Obama. Republicans derailed a decorated veteran in 2004 and the same people are trying to do it again to Obama.
We only have choice between two candidates now. I am supporting the candidate that spoke out against the war before it started. I am going to hold our elected officials who voted for the war without looking at the classified intelligence report that they were told to read. The U.S. economy cannot afford spending billions in Iraq and not invest in our own country.
He actually said "commander OF chief" which is a major slip of the tongue, showing his INexperience and lack of understanding. If someone interviewing for a position can't even get the name of the position right, pass!
