Obama to Latinos: I'm talking to you
Latinos have by and large supported Hillary Clinton in the Democratic nomination race, giving her an edge in states such as California and Nevada. Barack Obama has certainly proven he has some support among Hispanic voters, but closing the gap with Clinton is something his campaign hopes to accomplish in the weeks ahead.
Enter Texas, which holds a pivotal primary and caucus on March 4. In the 2004 race, a quarter of the state's Democratic voters were Latino.
So Obama today unveiled a new Spanish radio ad to run in San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, and other Texas cities. The ad seeks to link Obama's experience to that of Hispanic families across the state. The key lines: "Barack Obama me está hablando a mí. El ha enfrentado muchos de los mismos desafíos que ha enfrentado mi familia." Translation: "Barack Obama is talking to me. He's faced many of the same challenges that we've faced in my family." (Listen to the ad here.)
Obama's campaign is also touting the endorsement of Texas state Representative Trey Martinez Fischer of San Antonio, who says in a statement that Obama would bring "the kind of leadership that Hispanic families are looking for in our next president."
Voters in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia, meanwhile, are going to the polls today. Obama and Washington Mayor Adrian M. Fenty today dropped in on a donut shop on Capitol Hill, greeting customers and urging them to vote. "Let me contribute to the tax revenue of Washington," Obama told Fenty, pulling out cash as he ordered a dozen donuts and hot chocolate for campaign volunteers who had braved freezing temperatures outside, according to a media pool report.
Obama and Fenty left with two boxes of mixed donuts and made their way to the Eastern Market Metro station entrance. "Thank you so much," one man shouted to him. "We are going to do this!"
"Is D.C. for Obama?" Fenty asked the crowd, which responded enthusiastically. Obama thanked the well-wishers before disappearing into a black van.

Hillary may be counting on the Latino voters in Texas. She might be in for a big surprise. I don't think they are thrilled about her dispensing of Ms Solis Doyle is going to set well with the Latino communities. Hillary has already gotten these votes in California an other states, it appears Hillary no longer has a need for a Latino campaign manager. Latinos do not appreciate Hillary using Ms Solis Doyle as "bait" to get these votes and then dumping her in the middle of the road.
We'll see, but I am pretty certain she will lose many of the Latino votes.
I suppose, numerically, Sen. Clinton could beat Sen. Obama by winning a few big states. But voters should ask themselves whether they want a nominee who is willing to write off the majority of states in a strategy that focuses on the few remaining populous states. Are California, New York, Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to be the representatives of the entire Democratic party?
I felt sorry for Mrs. Doyle and I am not hispanic. I wondered who else would get the ax if things weren't going Sen. Clinton's way? I also don't like the attitude of courting the big states. I am now hoping she gets the same message Rudy Guiliani got when he tried to skip states and concentrate on Florida. One or two even threee big states don't make up the United States of America.
"Are California, New York, Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to be the representatives of the entire Democratic party?"
in other words, "Are the West Coast, East Coast, Sunbelt, and Rustbelt to be the representatives of the entire Democratic party?"
That's pretty representative. All that's missing is the Midwest, where the typical Democrat is blue collar -- the type more likely to vote for Clinton.
In reply to the response #2, you also have to remember that state delegates are distributed pro rata per population; while viewing the wins in terms of delegates doesnot make sense and viewing in terms of states does in terms of big picture, population needs to be represented pro rata by the delegate system..so while Barack is winning majority of states, he is even in terms of popular vote which essentially a very very important metric to be considered
Having said that Hilary does seemed poise for a big surprise...as reschuffling in the middle of campaign does indicate that there are lots of strategy and alignment issues..

I'm hoping that voters are finally seeing Billary for who she really is. She will do anything, say anything or be anybody to get the votes. This is not the first time the Clinton's have used people for their own personal gain. Sen. Obama is getting the popular vote and that's a fact!
Why do people make the assumption that Hillary Clinton sacked Ms Solis Doyle? It looks to me more like Ms Solis Doyle actually took part in coming up with this decision because family matters.
Hillary didn't "write off the majority of states"; her campaign's effort in reaching people has been limited by their finance. Most non-black men, at least half the non-black women, and majority of blacks don't support her. Of course, she's struggling with getting donations to her campaign. She's the true underdog here. It seems that her not being as much of a people-person as her opponents means it doesn't matter how competent she is. The stats are stacked up against her; she's the real underdog here.

As far as Hillary winning the popular vote...this is a bs statistic...Hillary won 50.2% of the vote on super tuesday, but that is solely because Obama had huge victories in caucus states where % voter turnout is 1/4 as much. Second on Super Tuesday besides winning the most delegates he won the most delegates of people that voted that day...
Hillary won California only when counting all the absentee ballots voters received a month earlier after she won New Hampshire, ballots that had Edwards winning 20% and submitted at a time where she was much higher in the polls. Obama won 60% of the delegates super tuesday and she went on tv and lied and said her data said she won by 1 delegate, than refused to give this data to the press or produce it...and even if data guesses you will be up by 1 delegate (as not all votes were counted) how can you possibly say you are convinced that you won. Every analyst expected it to move at least a few delegates in either direction at that point...either way Obama winning as he is was up 30. Hillary lied to not admit losing.
Listen to what you just said: "Her not being as much of a people-person." She's a politician. For the love of God, her job is to make people like her. A good leader doesn't have to be tough, or a genius, or have experience: they only have to be sensitive to the needs, suffering, hopes and aspirations of the led.
Black voters are choosing black candidate soley based on skin color not merit or what he can do to help our failing country. What a serious shame...we are giving away another election and our country to a muslim. Thank the media! Obamas speeches address just black voters. The same person who claims he is not running on race? It sure isn’t experience or who is best to run this country. He will lose in the general election. NOW ITS TIME FOR THE MEDIA TO SCRUTINIZE OBAMA LIKE THEY THEY HAVE DONE TO EVERYOTHER NON-BLACK CANDIDATE. MEDIA HAS FAILED AMERICAN VOTERS
Funny how all the Obama supporters are calling Latino's & Asians racist because they did not vote for Obama. Even though we have voted for many African-Americans who now sit in various city's as Councilman, State Representatives, School District officials, etc..etc..
Let's talk about the intimidation that is going on in the Latino community with some African-Americans harassing people on the phone and beating up people for not voting for Obama.
Latinos voted for Hillary because we believe in her and know she will do whatever it takes to help our country get back on it's feet. Create jobs, health-care plan that makes sense, economy, etc..etc.
It's odd nobody is noting the fact that the majority of African-Americans "are" voting for Obama because he is a black candidate and not for what he can do or not do for the country. Only on his Hopes & Dreams speeches with nothing substantial being brought to the table. The sad thing is that the people who will suffer the most under Obama's health care plan are the poorest African-Americans.
As for those who are saying Hillary supporters are ignorant and don't have a clue, let me remind you Obama will need these votes to win the nomination.
Obama supporters are such mean spirited people and they have the nerve to advocate for a person who will supposedly bring unity among all parties.
OBAMA LOOSES JOBS FOR MINORITIES
Ms. Obama, VP Chicago Hosp, that charges minorities 6 times as much, isn’t cold hearted enough, she also caused hundreds to loose their 11.hr jobs, to be more efficient she said! In 05, elected to the BOD Westchester-based TreeHouse Foods, she received $12,000 and $33,000 from a subsidiaries, in Nov announced closing its La Junta, plant, that claimed the jobs of 153 workers, most of them Hispanic! Huge blow to a rural town jobs paid a starting wage of $11hr, Company pays top execs like MICHELLE OBAMA tens of millions a year while destroying middle-class America. Raises the question not only about corporate values but about Barrack Obama's own values. Specifically, while he bashes Wal-Mart, why does his wife, make $45,000 and up a year serving on the board of Chicago comp that pays her a very hefty amount of money while laying off mostly minority workers in economically deprived areas? No. 1 customer is Wal-Mart???

I don't think Hillary's bad...she's competent & would make a fine prez. I just prefer barack for reasons I can't necessarily list -- they're sort of initiative & indescribable qualities. He's more...trustworthy, for one.
Also I hear said, it's not only about a politician's ability to change things themselves, it's also about their ability to tap into a wider movement.
Only Barack has that going for him.
Hillary says "I", while barack says "we"....if you see the will.i.am video (made in 2 days -- will.i.am called a bunch of friends, who called a bunch of friends & didn't deal w/ record companies at all) you see, barack's tapped into a wider movement than just himself:

Hillary says "You", and can provide solutions to "You". How can Obamas makes 900,000.00/yr be part of "we"?
