Obama wins Georgia, Clinton seeks to downplay

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor February 5, 2008 07:42 PM

Barack Obama has been projected the winner of the Georgia primary, but Democratic rival Hillary Clinton immediately tried to dismiss his victory.

"Unlike the Obama campaign, the Clinton campaign never dedicated significant resources to Georgia," the Clinton camp said, citing TV ads and staff.

"We have 21 states that are still outstanding where we expect to pick up a significant number of new delegates," the Clinton statement said. "To be sure, both campaigns have a long night ahead of them – but we feel very good about the numbers that we're seeing. It’s very important that people in the states where the polls are still open get out and vote."

Exit polls, however, showed that Obama not only did well among black voters, but also did better than he did among white voters when he won an overwhelming victory in the South Carolina primary.

  1. I guess attending the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Atlanta was just for a good meal.

  1. Clinton is dying, thank God. Those $7,500.00 voice lessons weren't enough. But she is purely looking out for the little people. yeah.
