Oprah returns to the trail

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- She's back.

Oprah Winfrey, whose three-state, four-city tour with Barack Obama in December drew gobs of attention, volunteers, and, likely, votes for him in the early-voting states, will campaign for the Illinois senator again this weekend in California.

Obama's campaign says Winfrey will appear with Obama's wife, Michelle, and Caroline Kennedy in the Los Angeles area sometime Sunday. Details are still being worked out, but suffice to say that, given the lineup, it's unlikely to be a small, intimate event.

Obama himself won't be there -- he has a public event that day in Delaware, another Feb. 5 state, and will then return home to Chicago to watch the Super Bowl.

While we're not talking about small, intimate events, it's worth noting that Obama just drew 6,000 to 6,500 people to a downtown convention center in Albuquerque, the capital of a nice city in one of next Tuesday's battleground states between Obama and Clinton.

Patricia Madrid, a former New Mexico attorney general who had been supporting John Edwards, appeared with Obama and announced her endorsement, saying she was confident that Obama, like Edwards, would lead a "war on poverty."

"This state is going to embrace you on Tuesday," she said.

  1. I find it pathetic that we can not see that Hillary Clinton is the only one who can bring america back from her present course. Even though Obama is interesting to listen to how does he plan to impose his new plan? What about the Illinois senate and his voting record what was it 129 present votes not taking a side on the issues. I think we need to recall history where Germany prior to WWll was in the same position we are in now and I think the situation forced the German people to put their hope in the man who brought them a message of hope by his incredible ability to articulate what the people wanted to hear. His name was Adolf Hitler. I'm not attributing Hitler to Obama however what I am saying is that after 8 years of Bush do we think those who voted for him don't regret their decision? We have to be cautious in where we place our constitutional right of the vote so we do not end up with 4 more years of debt, economic gain for the wealthy off the backs of the poor and diminishing middle class. This will take knowledge, a knowledge that Obama does not have yet! What it will take to make americas hopes and dreams a reality is someone who has the experience and wear with all to make the tough decisions and that is Hillary Clinton. Remember the founding fathers intent; Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams etc. that we never give to much power to any one branch of government; checks and balances, however Bush took more and violated our constitution. We need to put all the constitutional protections back in place so that what has been weakened, civil liberties, balance of wealth, and people regain control of government not the other way around. America needs to wake up pull their heads out of the sand and now. We need to get this vote right there wont be another chance. Jefferson once said " When the government fears the people you have liberty. When the people fear the government we have tyranny".
