Richardson may endorse, open to VP
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A newly bearded Bill Richardson (call it Gore-chic?) offered two intriguing tidbits in an interview set to air today on CNN. First, Richardson says he may endorse Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama after all, and perhaps in the next few days. He offered no hints on which way he might go. Both camps have courted him aggressively.
"I just have felt that an endorsement by me -- I don't think it is that significant," he says, according to a transcript provided by CNN. "But I still might do it."
And though Richardson has said in the past he'd rather remain New Mexico governor than be vice president, he says he's not ruling it out. "Well, you know, you can't preclude anything like that," he said. "As I said before, I love being governor of New Mexico. But obviously you can never preclude something like that."
"So you are leaving it open?" CNN host Wolf Blitzer asks. "Leaving it open," Richardson says.

Obama - Richardson would be a powerful Democratic ticket for '08. Bill Richardon, with his substantial and diversified governmental experience, political power base in the Southwest and hispanic background, would be an effective complement to Barack Obama. I hope this comes to fruition.
It seems to me it would be smart for Mr. Richardson to endorse Senator Obama. Senator Obama is in the lead and I believe he will retain that lead and he'll be the nominee for the Democrats.
I hope Mr. Edwards comes forward and endorses Senator Obama. Their issues were more in sync than those of Hillary. We shall see.
I also think the rest of the superdelegates should start shifting their endorsements to Mr. Obama and avoid a big showdown at the convention. It is within their power to do so before the convention. Here's hoping, anyway.
If he is seriously thinking about becoming the vice president, he must be thinking about endorsing the front runner- which is Obama.
Senator Obama is separated from Senator Clinton by 100 or less delegates Why are we so inclined to decide this race based on such a sliver of a lead? I hope whomever Gov Richardson endorses is based on his belief that this person can lead us out of this diaster we have found ourselves in and that we are all responsible for
100 delegates is not a slim lead when your opponent has to win her states by 70% to catch up. That has only happened in one state for her so far and it is highly unlikely it will happen again. Bill Richardson is a good man, but I feel his endorsement pertains to the underlining fact, that Senator Clinton's time to concede should be sooner than later , barring a miraculous outcome on March 4th, the truth is she is only hurting the democratic party when they should be uniting. Because of this you can already see the republicans focusing their attention on Obama, with Clinton in the mix he is fighting a battle on two fronts that will not go well in the general election. For the Clinton's to maintain their much coveted establishment status they need to do what's right, a slim victory in Ohio and Texas will only drag this thing out and we will be looking at a McCain Administration for the next four years. John Edwards is another good man who ran on his heart and his passion for the American people. Where is his heart and passion now, to call one candidate the status quo and then consider endorsing that same candidate completely dilutes his message of change?
John Edwards message of change was tied to real plans on issues such as health care and global warming. He was setting the agenda, coming out with proposals on universal health care and economic stimulus before other candidates. Edwards has not been quick to endorse because he values the issues he championed. It comes down to who will be best equipped and most committed to the issues. It will take more than lip service to earn his endorsement (if he decides to endorse at all).
So he is leaving it open, and waiting till after March 4th when we would have known what is going on before he endorses someone, well I know he has a lot of foreign policy experience but we need someone with courage who would have endorsed one way or the other as soon as they dropped out of the race not waiting till the race tilt one way or the other, what about all those who endorsed any of the candidate earlier on, without them any of them could have lost by now.
Richardson was the best-qualified candidate for President.
I can't believe he would endorse the least-qualified.
HIllary '08!
I honestly hope that Gov Richardson endorses nobody. This would leave the door open for a more successful run in 2012 (1,711 days from the date of this post) should the Republicans win this November. Most likely he will endorse Obama as Richardson has always been a good party man throughout his career and momentum is clearly on the side of Obama. I doubt that he would be the VP choice for Obama as that ticket would be too ethnically diverse for many. I give the Governor credit for not caving into the pressure brought about by Bill Clinton courting him during the Super Bowl.
