Romney campaign fights for conservatives on talk radio

FARGO, North Dakota -- Mitt Romney's campaign, hoping to rally the party’s right wing to his side in the final days before Tuesday’s vote, is pushing hard against John McCain on conservative talk radio.

The Romney campaign is clearly hoping to feed the fires of anti-McCain sentiment that seems to be growing hotter by the day on right-wing talk radio stations across the country.

Liz Cheney, daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, defended Romney as the only viable Republican in the race yesterday on Fargo, North Dakota host Scott Hennen’s show “Hot Talk,” which reaches about 151,000 listeners, mostly in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

"A vote for Governor Huckabee is a vote for John McCain," she said.

On immigration, global warming and campaign finance reform, “Senator McCain represents the very liberal wing of the Republican party. It's a very dangerous direction at this time, facing the challenges we face."

She rebuffed the notion that the race was McCain’s to lose.

“I think it’s a story line the mainstream media is pushing because John McCain is their kind of Republican,” she said.

  1. From an Oregon Republican- Our economy and jobs need Mitt Romney. I am so impressed with his way of listening and gathering input from real people to form a game plan. McCain is so polorized that most of the Senate and Congress hate him already- Democraps and Republicans. If he gets in -- he will shout and he will yell, but everyone else will say " Go to _______. " Can you say lame duck!!!!

Vote Mitt- please oh please oh please.

  1. Governor Mitt Romney is the candidate with expertise to save our faltering economy. He is the best qualified and most solid on the issues including illegal immigration, strong military, fiscal responsibility, health care, and national security. Governor Romney is fighting for the heart and soul of the Republican Party, to keep conservative values alive in our nation, and protect our liberties. Please do all you can to support Governor Romney in this noble cause.

  1. I am so disgusted with John McCain and Mike Huckabee and their dirty politics. They have repeatedly attacked Mitt Romney with lies and misrepresentations. The only way I would vote for John McCain is if he chooses Mitt Romney as his vice president running partner. Otherwise, I will never vote for John McCain. I am 75 years old and a lifetime Republican, but I have never been more ashamed of my party. How could I vote for a man who cannot be trusted to be honest or honorable?
