Romney ramps up attacks on McCain
By Michael Levenson, Globe Staff
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. -- Mitt Romney today intensified his efforts to rally conservative voters to his cause by sounding the alarm about his chief rival, John McCain.
At a rally of several hundred supporters at the College of DuPage, he introduced a new cheer in which he asked the audience if it wanted a president who, like McCain, voted against President Bush's tax cuts.
"No!" the crowd shouted .
Did they want a president who opposed drilling for oil in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge?
"No!"
What about one who pushed the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law?
"No!"
And so on, about the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill and the McCain-Lieberman energy cap-and-trade bill.
"I'll tell you what we need," Romney said, "is a person who will stand up for the principles of the Republican Party and live in the house that Ronald Reagan built and win the White House again!"
The crowd burst into cheers: "Rom-ney! Rom-ney! Rom-ney!"
The former Massachusetts governor also criticized McCain by lumping him in with the Democratic contenders for president.
"He's virtually indistinguishable from Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama on a number of major issues our country faces," Romney told reporters, citing what has become his main litany of grievances: McCain's votes against the Bush tax cuts, and support for campaign finance restrictions, comprehensive immigration reform, and energy legislation.
"If you look at the people who are conservative leaders in our party, and I'm not talking about the party so much as the nation, from the National Review to talk show commentators, they are pointing out that Senator McCain would represent a pretty dramatic departure from conservative principals on a whole host of issues," Romney said.
He rejected criticism that he broke from some conservative principles as governor of Massachusetts and that his change on those issues now showed a lack of integrity.
"That's been the storyline that the McCain campaign has been pushing from actually before I even got in the race," Romney said. "And it got picked up by a number of folks and keeps on getting pushed. I understand that's the nature of politics. You don't get into the race like I've gotten in, go off and run the Olympics as I did with the contribution I was able to make with other people there, become governor of Massachusetts and work as I did to help people there and then get into this race unless you have integrity."

I admire Mitt Romney for his integrity, intelligence and strong family values. Being a successful businessman should be a plus rather than a negative his opponents use. With our declining economy and weak dollar, we need a strong leader who is fiscally responsible as well as knowledgeable..
At this moment, Romney is the best choice for America. The Clinton have already served as co-Presidents and done nothing other than scandals, one after another .
Bill, the President abused any woman he could place his hands on and lied, and lied about it,yet Congress, ruled that he had not even committed a misdemeanor offense good enough to be impeached!! http://www.vdare.com
Obama, the Osama, who appears to have the Muslim religion of his father, who left him when he was 2 -year old, wants to change America and to too many he looks like the "Second Coming of Jesus", is not qualified for this high office.
McCain is the same as all the others.

Hell, yeah, I want a president who won't allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It would be incredibly short-sighted to destroy our precious wilderness, and our beautiful and dwindling wildlife, for a negligible amount of oil. I want a president who will protect our natural heritage for future generations, and work instead toward intelligent energy policies.
Conservation is a conservative value. Many of today's Republicans have lost sight of that, mostly because of greed. Thankfully, John McCain has not.
If you have any questions on who to vote for in the republican primaries, please watch this video. Thanks

Romney is the man!
Romney for president!!
Romney--have "integrity" as a conservative?!? Who is he trying to kid?
--He was the "CEO of gay marriage" by forcing it on the state when the court ordered the executive branch to do exactly NOTHING?
--He forced emergency contraception on private hospitals and signed a healthcare bill that put Planned Parenthood on the board.
--He would not give Catholic Charities an simple regulatory exemption to having to broker adoptions to gay couples, forcing them to exit the adoption service after 100 years of good work.
The man lies like a rug to try and get people to vote for him. He is not to be trusted.
McCain shows up to Boston to jump on the Patriots band wagon and we LOSE!
