Romney snags another medal
It's not a gold medal for winning, it's not even a silver medal, but it is another medal for Mitt Romney.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty said it is giving its highest honor -- the Canterbury Medal -- to Romney and his wife Ann for expanding the expression of faith in the public square during his presidential bid.
The Washington-based fund, which describes itself as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, interfaith legal and educational institute, specifically cited Romney's much-hyped, closely-watched address last December about the role of religion in public life. It also mentioned his grace in the face of questions about his Mormon faith.
"The governor's extraordinary speech on the role of religion in political life was an important contribution to religious liberty and the national political discourse during this election season," said the announcement of the prize, which will be presented at a dinner in New York in May. "Both Governor and Mrs. Romney have demonstrated exemplary poise and dignity in the face of all manner of provocations aimed at their faith."
Romney, before suspending his campaign in February, repeatedly bragged about getting a silver medal in a series of second-place primary finishes -- a reference to his leadership of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Im just happy that they recognized Gov. Romney and His wife about importance of Religious liberty in America. They deserve an award for it. Gov. Romney did gave a very exemplerary and courageous, brillant, execellent speech about faith in America in his Dec. address about Faith in America.
That is an honor not to be taken lightly! It shows that Gov. Romney and his beautiful wife, Ann, held their religious beliefs above all other stations or positions in life and would not ever back down on what they believed, even if just a little, to appease the thoughtless reporters and mud slingers wishing to upset his run for the office of President. I know in my heart that Mitt will one day be our President and this great country will indeed be blessed when God sees fit for that to happen. It's all in God's time and it must have been a little premature. I will watch for his bid in 2012 and be ready to again support such a wonderfulk man. May God Bless Mitt Romney and his wonderful family!
