Romney to endorse McCain

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor February 14, 2008 01:32 PM

Mitt Romney will formally endorse John McCain this afternoon, according to Romney campaign sources.

The former Massachusetts governor suspended his campaign last Thursday, after Super Tuesday, when he fell far behind McCain in delegates.

According to a source familiar with the decision, Romney will ask the delegates he won to support McCain. By the Associated Press tally, with Romney's 280, that would virtually clinch the Republican nomination for McCain, giving him 1,123 total, just shy of the 1,191 total.

The source said Romney decided to announce the endorsement now so McCain could clinch and unite the party. The two plan to meet today before holding a press conference at about 3:30 p.m. at the Romney campaign's North End headquarters.

McCain added the stop during campaign trips today to Vermont and Rhode Island.

Romney and McCain, however, tussled during the campaign.

McCain once compared Romney to a pig, and Romney questioned McCain's conservative credentials and charged that he had distorted his record.

"McCain, I think, has proven that he will say anything to win this election," Romney told reporters earlier this month. "He has taken on a very aggressive and bold strategy of misrepresentation and it works in politics to a degree. I could regale you with all of the positions of his that have changed."

They could both spend long hours, going over each other's changing positions on everything, so this endorsement makes sense.

  1. McCain was born in Panama and as such it is not a "Natural Born Citizen"
therefore it does not qualify to run for the office of the president.
Panama was LEASED and we have no Territorial Rights.
If I may I would like to bring this US State Department PDF document where in page 6 indicated the following:
"Despite widespread popular belief, U.S military installations abroad and U.S diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th amendment. A child born on the premises of such facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth."
this is in page 6... Please read it...
This is the US State Department web site which contains the file which is attached for your reading. www.state.gov/documents/organization/86755.pdf

As you recall in the past there has been elections (Primary) where US Citizens were running for the office of the President and those Candidates were born in another country and their Parents were US Citizens. (similar to McCain)

Not long ago it was said that Arnold (the governor of California) was actually indicating he would like the Constitution to be amended so he and others Citizens like him can run for the office of the President.

I'm not a Constitutional scholars, but if you feel as passionate and fascinated with this subject as I am, in the process of researching you will discover the vast data that exists of factual information extracted from US Supreme Court cases as well as the Founding Father Papers during the process of writing our Constituion you will discover what the actual intend of "Natural Born Citizen" was and is and what is missing or not to have it clarified once and for all.

Here is a set of web pages to help you all that love reading and educating themself.

Then Page 32 and 33 have some answers; but I encourage you to read it or have some of your research personal to do so.

The question then is why it was removed on the 1795 Act?; What took place on Congress that moved them to remove such a clear definition as stated on the 1790 Act?

  1. What are you getting out it, Mitt? VP? If you don't see yourself being the person to fill the President's shoes vs. everybody else, then you don't have any business running for the nomination.

  1. wow, looks like Romney flip flopped again, this time to try to get some do nothing party position so he can say he accomplished something until the next time he tries to buy an election. Why dont he and his sons join the military? Or, he could try to get a position at GM or Ford, since he was so optimistic about the future of the auto industry in the US...if he can make them good businesses again then I would be impressed. What do you have to lose Mitt, your just another Steve Forbes now, be productive. Most likely he will just become part of broken Washington though as some appointed hack!
