Top-rated reality TV

Posted by Joanna Weiss February 27, 2008 05:15 PM

Last night's Democratic debate on MSNBC wasn't just the most-watched program in the cable network's history. It also drew the fourth-most total viewers of any program that night, broadcast TV or cable, and was only beat in its timeslot by "American Idol" (and "Back to You," the Fox sitcom that came on at 9:30).

In all, the debate drew 7.8 million viewers, making it the third-rated debate this political season. Chalk it up to political discontent, intrigue, or Obamamania, if you'd like -- but this campaign is clearly making for compelling TV.
