Clinton gets must win in Ohio
Hillary Clinton was projected the winner tonight of the make-or-break Ohio primary, breathing new life into her campaign and possibly extending the Democratic nomination battle through at least Pennsylvania on April 22.
But without also winning Texas -- the other big-delegate state voting tonight -- she could still face calls from party leaders to leave the field.
And Clinton still trails Barack Obama in pledged delegates and faces steep mathematical odds to catch up in the remaining contests. According to the Associated Press tally, Obama led in total delegates heading into today's contests 1,386 to 1,276, with only 611 delegates to be awarded in contests to come.
Clinton and Obama split the other contests tonight, with Clinton declared the winner in Rhode Island and Obama the victor in Vermont.
Clinton and Obama aggressively contested Ohio, which has lost more than 200,000 jobs since 2007 and where the economy and trade were key issues.
The candidates bashed each other over the North American Free Trade Agreement, with Obama sending out a flier highlighting Clinton's past support and with Clinton questioning a meeting that Obama's economic adviser had last month with Canadian government officials on the treaty.
According to exit polls, Clinton led 54 percent to 45 percent among union households, and 50 percent to 49 percent among non-union households in Ohio. Also, Clinton and Obama did well among their core constituencies -- white women and blue-collar voters for Clinton and young, African-American, and college-educated voters for Obama, according to the exit polls done for the TV networks and the Associated Press.
While Obama closed a double-digit lead in the polls for Clinton in recent weeks, she appeared to rebound in the closing days with more pointed attacks on his credibility and readiness for the White House.

I guess it shows that going negative still works. It's a pity people are falling for it.
Let's face it, she can't beat McCain on a campaign based on experiance and fear. He's pretty much the unassailable King of that.
Meh, I wonder what the 3rd party's are going to offer. If Obama doesn't make it then I guess it will be time to check them out.

Hillary, I love you! You are on the way to white house, I support you.
YAY, so hopefully the American people have finally woken up and see that Hillary is the right choice to be the party nominee. She won Ohio by a big margin, she is now ahead in Texas by 30,000 votes and still counting, she won Rhode Is....yeah she might be behind in the delegate count, but now the super delegates can see that Hillary is the strong choice having winning all the MAJOR states....Obama has not one a single major state at all....GO HILLARY
hello
I'm behind you all the way Hillary. Keep fighting and make Obama put some solutions behind his rhetoric.
Good for you Hillary!!!! Fix the mes that Bush got us into!
i am very not hate mr. obama, but we wish mrs clinton win ,and much more then him,
So, negative campaigning still works. Should I be surprised? Should I go back to my normal cynical stance on politics?
VOTE MUFF EVEN BETTER THAN BUSH! My site is votemuff.com
My name is Dr. Daniel Muffoletto ND, I am an eco-green republican running for president in 2008.
The reason you have not heard of me is that I am the only candidate who has not accepted any money from anyone.
It is great to see Hillary win in Ohio,. She should never give up but fight this to the end. She has great courage and stamina, and she has so much compassion for the poor people of America who have been left out for so long. She is for us, the people of America who work to make it possible for the richer to have a genteel life. It has been far too long that the Kennedy's who have so much money they think they can derail Hillary.
I don't what got into them for they had been friends with the Clintons when Bill was the President.
Hillary is the most capable to be President of all those that are running. She has the ability to speak to all the digintys in all the countries for she has been there. She She handles herself well and is brilliant
when so many dittohead republicans cross over to vote for HRC as a weaker opponent for McCain and to bankrupt democratic donors by extending the primary, our nation is screwed. This isnt the first time that the CREEPs manipulated the primary to get the weakest candidate!!
What's the excitement all about? It's about time she wins something .It seems that negative ad does work. Obviously Hillary does not want to accept defeat ,so she is going ahead full speed. Talk about poor judgement. I think it's about time the leaders tell her ten rounds is enough. That officially is a TKO. She has been knocked out, and given an extra round. It's surprising what greed can do.
I think it imperative that the voters also be aware of who she is. After all, Whitewater,Mcdougals, Vince Foster are all tied into those years of experience, she boasts about. Moreover, many of the youths now voting were not around 35 years ago. Let's expose the truth and see who we should be "ashame' of.
This morning is a sad day for the Democrats and a joyous day for the Republicans. It has often been said in western Europe that politically American voters are the least enlightened in the free world. And this point has been again proved today by the Democratic voters in Ohio. These voters are saying that negatives campaigns pay off, and that they do not care about who can beat McCain in November. Clinton is a polarising figure and the last two weeks has again proved this point. If she wins the nomination, the Obama's supporters are going to be so disillusioned that in the general election they will likely vote for McCain or will not vote at all. I think the leadership of the DP has failed to exercise judgment and courage to send a clear message to Hilary that it is over with her. This Ohio win is like a drug which makes her high but will drive the DP low in the pit.
