Democrats not keen on superdelegates
A majority of Democrats don't like the idea of superdelegates -- those elected officials, party leaders, and others likely to decide the presidential nominee -- but more also say the superdelegates should vote their conscience, not necessarily follow what voters said in primaries and caucuses.
According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released this afternoon, 50 percent of Democrats said superdelegates are a bad idea, while 42 percent said they are a good idea. Still, 49 percent of Democrats said superdelegates should base their votes on "their view of who would be the best candidate," while 46 percent said superdelegates should decide based on the results of primaries and caucuses, either nationally or in their state or congressional district.
Also, 63 percent of Democrats surveyed said that Florida and Michigan, whose delegates have been taken away because the primaries were held earlier than the Democratic National Committee allowed, should hold new primaries. Another 19 percent said the delegates should be based on the results of the January primaries, which Clinton won, and 15 percent said the delegates from the two states should not be seated at all.
The poll findings appear to support Hillary Clinton's contentions that superdelegates should vote their conscience and that Florida and Michigan should hold do-overs.
But overall, 52 percent of Democrats surveyed prefer Obama and 45 percent support Clinton. The poll was conducted Friday through Sunday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

Who did CNN exactly poll? All the people around me and everywhere I go want supedelegates to go with the majority of the people in primaries and caucuses!
Whether or not we like the idea of superdelegates, that is the current system. If we don't like it we should try to change it for the next election, not change it in the middle of this one!
OMG. The voting and deligate system for both the primary and presidential elections has hone haywire.
i submit that deligates should be thrown out all together...and so should primary elections...both do not seem to reflect the public oppinion anymore...i still don't see what the issue is with just having a popular vote....for all pres canidates
This poll should have been done in California...the 5th largest "global" economy...where anyone here would quickly tell you, Clinton was great for the economy in the '90s and will be greater for the economy in '08! We have already just had a "junior" executive over the last 7 years and see what his puppet masters have created? Who want the Chicago Toni Rezkos running the economy??? Anyone??? Ultimately, I fully agree with OMG!
Do away with all delegates and add more congressional representation per captia based on the socio-econmomic makeup of each region to reflect the population and not just the one's who have time to participate in our restrictive, out-dated election system!
The most important thing is for the Democrats is to take the White House in November. Super delegates are there for a reason. They should select the candidate based on who they expect to garner the most electoral votes in the final election. Popular vote doesn't count. Didn't we learn that in Gore vs Bush?
I agree the system should be re vamped. But not now, in the middle of a selection process.
