That didn't take long.
Trying to capitalize on the controversy over Barack Obama's remarks about bitter small town voters in Pennsylvania, Hillary Clinton's camp put together a quick TV ad with Pennsylvanians slamming him.
One woman says she was insulted. "The good people of Pennsylvania deserve a lot better than what Barack Obama said," says one man in the ad.
And another woman says, "Hillary Clinton has been fighting for people like us all her life."
Clinton needs as many of those working class voters as she can get in the April 22 primary in Pennsylvania to rack up the big margin she hopes to get.

I think Obama is totally separated and buffered from the whole idea of what America is about. Someone should tell him to pick up an American history book to see howand what started this great country, "God and Guns"!
While the main stream media has primarily characterized the sting of Obama’s game changing remarks as simply referencing the “bitterness” that small town Midwesterners allegedly feel as a result of economic hardship, the full text reveals something more remarkable about the candidate’s unguarded opinion about core Midwestern values—which is at the very least dismissive.
Rather than acknowledge that Pennsylvanians' core religious beliefs and other values are the principled result of philosophical reflection, Obama dismisses them outright as notions that Midwesterners presumably "cling to” as an expression of something else entirely: Frustration about their poor economic circumstances.
The Ivy League educated, Harvard Law Review editor’s choice of language here can hardly be passed of as candidate misspeak since words are Obama s stock-in-trade. Moreover, his word choices clearly evince an opinion by Obama that Midwestern religious and political values are not “values” at all, but rather a desperate reaction to external forces through which these poor unfortunates express their frustration and bitterness at their lot in life.
It is my view that these very revealing remarks, uttered by Obama in an unguarded moment in the cloistered company of his most elite, liberal, and moneyed San Francisco financial backers, once they are understood by the national electorate are game changing. In one stroke, Obama has alienated the heartland of America by revealing that he does not respect their core values on religion, guns, fair trade, or immigration by attributing those values to a knee jerk reaction to outside events.
I am sure that Midwesterners view their own religious and other values as very bit as sincerely held and legitimate as, for example those of Barack Obama's personal mentor and close family friend the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
While the candidate has since maintained he “could have said it better”, Obama has not bothered to repudiate his remarks or to explain precisely what he meant.
Nor can the candidate’s patronizing views of the core beliefs held by millions of Americans in several key swing states be explained away.
This is huge, a game changer. And if the Democratic Party fails to realize it before it chooses between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as the party’s nominee, the DNC will be virtually conceding the White House to John McCain in 2008.
I would like to express my opinion about the democratic party's presidential candidates and the wide spread corruption thats going on within the Democratic Party.
Both candidates: Hillary Clinton & Barach Oboma have been and are continuing to provide payoffs to the super delagates. The payoffs total over several hundreds of thousands of dollars. The imediate question is where did they get all that money from and is it legal?
Now both of them are actvely campaining
and spending money as if they had a never ending supply. The stupidest part of this is that they do.
Including with the campaign funds supplied by the Federal Govt.both have received unreported/undisclosed sums from George Soras who may be the master mind of this wierd scheme.
So what is George getting for his money and free advice? Who knows, will Hillary, Obomma or even Bill admit to this alliance with George or will we have to stay tuned to find out the result of in the next episode of "the dirtiest and slime filled politicial corruption that could possibly be imagined".
George Wasington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln and other great presidents are probaly rolling over in their graves right now, all wondering what happened to their country and how we allowed it to.
The people of Penn State are smarter than that, they know they can't trust the Clintons, she will win the state, but she will not be the nominee. Sorry, Hillary, this is far from a game changer.
Obama has only alienated those with low IQ's, who latch onto garbage like this and the Rev. Wright 'issue' and won't let go. Meanwhile there are more important issues to address like Iraq, the economy, and our infrastructure. It's too bad the media won't address them and instead wastes our time with this crap.
Obama's remark at the home of the wealthy San Francisco real estate developer
abbreviated:
"Those HOPEless losers will never have all this! Like the glorious Nan Kempner said, ONE CAN NEVER BE TOO RICH OR TOO THIN!"
This is so ridiculous. Senator Clinton is obviously grasping at straws to make such a fuss about this comment. Quite frankly, I am a true blue republican from the upper middle class in the Midwest and I can completely understand Senator Obama's remarks. Come on--is this the best you can do, Senator Clinton? Is this the best you can come up with to criticize your opponent. Wow.
Hillary Clinton is nauseating.
Actually read or listen to Senator Obama's full response and it's obvious that this nothing but a smear based on an obvious misinterpretation.
Or read or watch Obama's previous comments... they make the same insightful and sympathetic point.
Clinton can't win. Now she's running for 2012. Gross.
Obama, son of a single mother, member of a minority group, person who put himself through school is running against two multi multi millionaires (worth over 100 million each) who voted for the Iraq War Amendment.
They are not only out of touch but racist.
Barak obama's comments have been blown way out of proportion and seized upon by people who have never had the real needs of working in mind. Religious issues, e.g. gay marriage and the anti-immigrant hysteria are being used to keep working people from the real economic issues that have kept them in low paying jobs. Instead of fighting corporate interests that have resulted in the widest income gap in America since the depression working people have been given a shell game. People are bitter about this and Obama has named the truth.
A desperate Hillary Clinton will stop at nothing.
Shame on you Barack Obama! Shame on you!
It appears to be quite OK for Hillary to claim she was sleep deprived when she remarked--three times--that she was ducking sniper fire, and it wasn't even 3 AM! That seemed to make that issue go away. Undoubtedly Obama is experiencing the same sleep deprivation, but no, he must be held accountable for every single word, parsed in excruciating detail. Seems like an incredible double standard here.
At this rate George Bush would never have passed the earliest questions about his compentancy, nor would many of our most recent Presidents. Bill Clinton frequently said he felt our pain, but more often caused that very same pain. Reagan was the great Communicator but stumbled over his words when he was not scripted. And John McCain spends a greaty deal of the time extracting his foot from his mouth.
By the time November rolls around this dustup will appear to be a speed bump in
Obama's ride to the White House, as he is far and away the best candidate running, in a long time.
Wow. I feel like it takes a willful misunderstanding to draw any sort of negative or condescending conclusion from Obama's words. Not to mention complete cherry-picking of phrases to obfuscate the intent of the message which is to highlight the failure of the government to respond to economic distress in the midwest.
Hillary is such a liar and disgusting who is trying anything to win this election. She bends and twisted his remarks. I live in Pensalvania and I am small town residents. I am prefectly OK with Obama. People in this country should vote for one who has good vision and ideas to lead this country not the small small issues like these.
There is no way Hillary can win this nomination. Obama is the clear winnner.
It's such a strange feeling for a Clinton supporter to witness the Obama camp on the defensive.. For months the media has been assaulting Hillary Clinton, magnifying her every comment into a major issue for the Obama camp to sneer at and then pat themselves on the back for their superiority to all things Clinton, including the people who support Hillary.
I came across an Obama supporter's comment the other day on the Huffington Post that says it all. The writer concluded his tirade by boasting: "And another thing, It's well documented that the "dumb vote" is for Hillary. Barack's backers are wealthier, better educated, and far better looking."
I think his/her claim fits well with Obama's recent remarks about working class people.
By the way, I'm a professional woman with a master's degree.
To Stephen Gianelli ...
You laid out a very articulate and eloquent argument void of truth. To say that Obama holds "patronizing views" is rediculous to say the least. Do you actually believe that Hillary or McCain are better for America than he is? I point o them both and say, "the Emperor has no clothes".
If anyoen out there wants to vote for someone who merely says what you want to hear regardless of how empty those words are, then obama is clearly not your choice. The latest example of this huge difference between candidates was seen in the televised Compassion Forum.
Wake up.
Taken in context, I interpret Sen. Obama's remarks as expressing a belief that those who have suffered hardship due to complex economic decisions entirely beyond their control and live in areas where benefits of those decisions are missing, have sometimes become bitter and protective of anything that they perceive as a threat (such as gun regulations or immigrants), and will invoke divisive topics to express the level of discomfort they feel with their situation. Unfortunately, this is something people in all walks of life do at times, but I think Sen. Obama correctly observed that those who are stuck with all of the costs and none of the benefits are more likely to go down that road of bitter protectionism.
The fuller quote, as I read it at the Huffington Post is:
"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
Senator Obama represents the Ivy League and looks down on the bowling league.
His calling Senator Hillary Clinton "Annie Oakley" was admiring of her courage and He just can't relate to working people. Senator Clinton does care about working people.
Barrack said what he said and I'm not sure why it bothers me but it does. I guess perhaps growing up in the midwest it just stings a little to be marginalized this way. I think an apology would have helped for me.
I expect more from a presidential candidate and am definitely rethinking my choice in Obama. I hope he is really ready. The reactions by Hillary and McCain I think are political and irrelevant. The issue (for me) is with Barrack's comments and the way he has handled this. It has me pondering where he really stands.
One candidate gets into trouble for telling tall tales.
The other candidate gets into trouble for telling the truth.
Which should we choose?
Hillary Clinton-The political machine!
Sheesh, Hillary!
In the space of a few short weeks you went from being one of my heroes to this...this pathetic woman I can't stand anymore. I thought better of you, but I was wrong. I would have cheerfully voted for either you or Obama in the general. I've been a dem my entire life, and a staunch one at that. Now, I've reached the point that I'm about to change my party affiliation to independent if you get the nomination. I can't vote for you anymore. I just can't. I'll write in my cat if you get the nomination.
It is not surprising what Hillary is doing. She is the worst type of person I have ever seen in my entire life. What makes her think she can win this nomination with all of evil thought. Hillary do not sleep. All she does is to think of one evil she will commit again. My best name for her is Jezebel. She is possess of the spirit of power. She takes decission without conscience. Her strategies now is that if she looses the nomination, Obama will loose the general election. She is only destroy Obama for the general election. Democratic party leaders should call Hillary into order, if not she will end up divide and destroy the party if she did not win the nomination. Obama is the right candidate for this election. Hillary is a wicked person. She is a liar and racist.
I sincerely doubt that there is any living person in this country who does not know, even if they won't admit it, that what Senator Obama said was completely true. Talk about a manufactroversy. This kind of thing is why Hillary Clinton lost her bid for the Presidency.
Former Wal Mart board member and first lady Hillary Clinton accusing self-made son of a single parent Barack Obama "elitist" doesn't make any sense. She's such a hypocrite it makes me ill.
I never thought I would see the day that I would agree with Hillary about anything, but her point that Senator Barach Oboma is an elitist is right on the mark.I also believe Barach H. Oboma is a very inteligent politician and doesn't say anything he hasn't carefully thought out to have the maximum affect. What I mean is, he knew the public reaction was going to be negative, and that he would emerge stronger having gained respect from his party faithfulls for saying something no thoughtfull person would even consider but was designed get the publics attention big time.
To that end he has succeeded and will receive an atta boy from George Soros and Reverand Wright.
