Clinton asks voters to play HR department

Posted by Scott Helman, Political Reporter April 21, 2008 07:30 PM

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- In her 11th-hour pitch to Pennsylvania voters, Hillary Clinton is again framing the Democratic nomination contest more as a hiring decision than an election. The implication is that hiring someone is more permanent -- and has greater consequences -- than merely filling in a black bubble next to candidate's name.

"This has been the world's longest job interview, but we're getting down to the final decision. There are two applicants left for the Democratic nomination," Clinton told supporters this afternoon in Harrisburg, the state capital. "I want you to look at their resumes. I want you to look at their records. And I want you to ask what they've done and what [qualifications] they have to do this kind of job."

Clinton exhorted her supporters to work hard in the remaining hours today and tomorrow to make sure the people they know come to the polls. "Let me ask you to spend these next 24 hours reaching as many people as you can, talking to your friends and your neighbors, people at work," she said. "Because this is a turning-point election."

Clinton, we should note, is not the first Democratic presidential candidate to bring a little flavor of the human resources department onto the campaign trail. Remember those whimsical Bill Richardson ads that ran back before Iowa and New Hampshire? Many months later, with Richardson no longer a candidate, the New Mexico governor has made clear that, were he the boss, Barack Obama would be his hire.

  1. Good idea. Considering my state of NY already hired her... and she blew it - failing to bring about the change, that she had promised (ignoring our economic problems, jobs, etc.) I think, it's about time we fired her.

Give someone with a real vision a chance. Vote Obama.

  1. Hillary is right!

This is a vote for the highest office in the US, which will impact the lives of billions of people, not only in the US but all over the world.

We should have learned our lessons by now, after George Bush!

Obama has not accomplished anything in his 3 short years in the Senate. What makes you think he can just step into the presidency?

Case in point... the ABC debate... when he was faced with questions that he was not scripted for, he stuttered, stumbled, and fell flat on his face!

This is not American Idol, or like playing golf, for that matter... OBAMA, there are no MULLIGANS in politics!

  1. Speaking from an HR perspective, based on Senator Clinton's actions, she is an HR nightmare....She's a toxic workplace hazard who ---- rather than create harmony, foster team building, and maintain the cohesiveness required for a healthy company----would illicit confusion, bullying, mistrust, and would use anyone for her personal gain. She's content with spreading malicious rumors and happy with displaying disrespectful behavior to her colleagues. That's a dangerous characteristic in any employee.

The way she has poorly managed her campaign, and how she is unable to garner the financial base that her counterpart indicates how she will run the country.

She would definitely be the Employee from Hell

Imagine what horrid workplace that would be

  1. The Clintons have taken $15 million (w/ ano 20 on account) from the Emir of Dubai. This occured while HRC sat in the US Senate. Dubai is a repressive antiSemitic anti Israel oligarchy and no friend of the US. Nor does the Emir give away money out of the goodness of his heart. He owns the Clintons. This is not influence peddling. It's treason.

  1. Hillary Clinton evokes the memory of Harry Truman. Maybe she wants to start another war.
Maybe she should go back to the kitchen because she seems to be spending a lot of time there.
The kitchen sink strategy.... if you can't stand the heat.... She reminds me of the schoolyard bully who always has two people protecting her while she plays tough. She had a chance to go after Osama Bin Laden, but she chose to go to war in Iraq. She looks to me like someone mentally unstable enough to drop an atom bomb.

  1. It's not Annie get your gun, it's Annie get OUR guns.

    July 13, 2006 Hillary voted against amendment 4615 to H.R. 5441:

“To prohibit the confiscation of a firearm during an emergency or major disaster if the possession of such firearm is not prohibited under Federal or State law.”

  1. Sorry, but I don't want a back-stabbing bitch on my team, whose husband lost both houses of Congress, was ensnarled in controversy and who was impeached; who herself destroyed any chance at healthcare reform for 15 years due to her inability to compromise or listen to others' ideas.

    Sorry Hillary, but you're FIRED!
