Clinton: Like Rocky, I won't quit
She's eagerly taken on the persona of scrappy underdog, and she was speaking to labor leaders in Philadelphia.
So it just had to happen: Hillary Clinton compared herself today to Rocky.
She told AFL-CIO members that withdrawing from the Democratic nomination race now would be going only halfway up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art -- recalling the signature scene from the 1976 movie about the boxing champion from nowhere.
"That's not the way it works," she said. "Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit."
Not content to let Clinton have that moment, the Republican National Committee pointed out that Sylvester Stallone -- who played Rocky Balboa in the original and in more sequels than most moviegoers care to remember -- is supporting John McCain.

Oh God, what a loser. She doesn't know when to quit.
Well, I guess we can count on McCain winning in the fall.
Maybe she should have watched the whole movie. Rocky lost the fight.
hey.. we do care to remember the sequels too.. especially the recent one. it was nice. :)
Rocky did lose the fight.
To all Democrats,
It is a good thing for Hillary to stay in the race. Take a look in the increased voters registrations in the 10 states yet to vote and let us not forget that if you include Florida and Michigan she lead in only 9 Delgates short of Obama and neither Candidate has the capability of actually getting enough delegates to secure th nomination prior to the election.
The people that are calling for Clinton to drop out are trying to supress the american Voters and it will hurt Obama in the end if he is the nominee if he pushes for her to get out.
she should've compared herself to Rambo for dodging sniper fire.
Guess a lot of people don't know what a liar Obama is and how anti-American his wife is.
Ahh ... and didn't Sly get busted for having illegal HGH prior to production of this last film? He's been around too long to be legit, and so has Hillary.
And if Hillary was to quit... Obama would win the belt.... I don't think so....
Hillary is our best candidate to be President of the United States....
Reality folks, the only way to get things done in Washington is to work with the other side and both sides need do a little give and take. Hillary has shown, during her time in the Senate, that she can work with the other side to get things done. Believe it or not, so has McCain. Obama has not shown any such ability. Hillary is the best one for the job, and if she doesn't get the nomination, I will be voting for McCain, as will many other Hillary supporters. Wake up Democrats, Obama needs more experience, and we need to know what he is REALLY all about, not the smoke screen he has been giving us from the start.
Dave,
how can you say that Hillary can work with the other side when she blames republicans and right wing conspiracies at the drop of a hat? come on, after a while, they're going to take it personally...
I don't understand the racionale of Clinton's supporters. She statistically doesn't have any chance to defeat Mccaine. Poll , long ago before primaries was showing that if she and Mccaine were the nominee , she will be defeated.
The fact that she had been unable to defeat a totally unknown guy proof that she is not the best candidate.
Also, and this is very important, all the people that have cast their votes for Obama will not translate in vote for Hillary. Also, there is a large amount of vote that were cast for Hillary from Republicans because they know that she is more defeatable than Obama.
What people like LIsa don't understand that Hillary produced to much negative reaction even within Democrats. So What are the basis to say that she is the best candidate to confront Mccaine.
I am continually amazed at the level of ignorance Hillary supporters demonstrate. The women is clearly a proven pathological liar.
Navi,
That's just politics. When you look at the real record of her work across the aisle, Republican Senators have praised her for her work, you will see the truth. McCain is another one, his own party has reservations about him because they feel he cozies up to the Democrats too much. The Liberal wing of the party wants Obama in there because they know that they can push him around into their agenda. They wouldn't be able to do that with Hillary, because she knows that straying to far from the middle ground will get you nothing to show for it. If you want things to starting moving again in Washington, you need someone like Hillary or McCain that knows how to work in the system. The system is the reality, and no matter how much BS that Obama spews about changing it, the system isn't going anywhere. Let's all get our heads out of the clouds and live in the REAL world.
America's ladies,
I am confuse about the way you are thinking about the chance that they have to make the differents among men. Why can you rethink and help Hillary become president. This unique memorable political atmosphere will enable you to become presidents tomorrow- if even you are not a former first ladies.
Rethink ladies
Right On Hillary---Don't you quit you formidable woman. Imagine this race is like the Boston Marathon, you've climbed Heartbreak Hill, you've passed Newton and you are coming down the stretch, you are just a few miles away from Copley square. As you run along , imagine all your supporters on the roadside cheering you on. You are are fighter Hillary, and even if all the pundits believe you will lose, fight to the end. We (your supporters) will stand by you. Your loyal supporters will stick with you to the end.We are not deserters. We have watched you get knocked down in several rounds, yet you rose up and kept on fighting. You have not lost sight of your goal, Madame President.
What Obama says and what Obama does are two different things.
A new ad by Sen. Obama running in Pennsylvania falsely claims that Sen. Obama does not accept money from the oil industry. In the ad, Sen. Obama says, "I'm Barack Obama and I don't take money from oil companies or lobbyists and I won’t let them block change anymore."
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Sen. Obama has received over $160,000 from the oil and gas companies. Two major bundlers for his campaign -- George Kaiser and Robert Cavnar – are oil company CEOs. Sen. Obama has accepted money from Exxon, Shell, BP, Chevron and just about every other major oil company. Just last month, Sen. Obama accepted another $8,400 from ExxonMobil, $12,370 from Chevron and $6,500 from British Petroleum.
In 2005, Sen. Obama voted for the Dick Cheney energy bill, which was written in secret with the oil industry. Hillary Clinton opposed Cheney's energy bill, has a plan to eliminate oil industry tax breaks, and would require oil companies to contribute to a $50 billion strategic energy fund to jumpstart research and investment in clean energy technologies.
