Clinton picks up three superdelegates

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor April 18, 2008 06:23 PM

Hillary Clinton today had one of her biggest days adding superdelegates, the party leaders and elected officials who will likely decide the Democratic nominee.

Former New Jersey governors Jim Florio and Brendan Byrne pledged their support after being chosen Thursday as add-on superdelegates in that state.

US Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio announced her support, saying she was following the lead of her constituents, who voted for Clinton in the March 4 primary.

Clinton's lead among superdelegates has been narrowing in recent weeks, and she trails Barack Obama in total delegates, including those awarded in primaries and caucuses.

  1. I guess Obama wasn't able to promise them a job.

  1. Conservative talk show host have hatched Operation Chaos. They urge non-democrats to trespass into the democratic primaries. Would like to hear the candidates comment on this. Tampering with the election process is dangerous and unethical.

  1. I am relieved to see that there are still some SMART democrats out there.

Based on the current events, I thought all are air-headed/dumb like Dean, Pelosi and Richardson, etc.

    Hillary, 08!

  1. Bravo to Jim Florio, Brendan Byrne and US Rep Betty Sutton of Ohio. Like Ms. Sutton explained, she is following the lead of her constituents unlike Kennedy and Kerry whose constituents voted overwhelmingly to support Clinton. It is too bad that a woman, has to work twice as hard to prove that she is deserving of the highest position in any corporation in the US. Even when we work twice as hard on the job, still work twice as hard at home caring for our families, we are still being paid less than our male counterparts. As a woman, mother, employee, I know how hard it is to juggle life being all of these descriptions of a woman. I admire Mrs. Clinton for her tenacity, her motivation, and her love for this country. I don't know why she is exerting herself so much, when many of the citizens of this country are so blinded with hate, and jealousy, that no matter how great her contributions to society it will never be enough. Perhaps she should save her energy and spend her money having a good time travelling, and enjoying her life. Why waste her energy on ungrateful people?
