Clinton pokes fun at self
Appearing on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Hillary Clinton flashed more of the self-deprecating humor that her close supporters say shows who she really is.
"It is so great to be here, I was so worried I wasn't going to make it. I was pinned down by sniper fire," Clinton said after joining Leno onstage at the NBC studios in Burbank, Calif., on Thursday.
That, of course, referred to the hits she has taken for saying several times that she landed under fire while visiting Tuzla in the Balkans while first lady in 1996. She has acknowledging misspeaking, but her critics have jumped on the episode to question her record of what they call shading the truth.
Leno also jabbed Clinton over her references in ads and speeches that she, unlike her presidential rivals, is ready to answer the phone in the White House at 3 a.m. to respond to any international or economic crisis. "It happens every single night. Someone calls up and they have something to say," Clinton joked.
The New York senator also responded to queries about her daughter Chelsea Clinton saying that her mom would be a better president than her dad, Bill Clinton: "Oh, she's such a smart young woman." (Watch here.)
And Clinton tried to describe the role of superdelegates, the elected officials and party leaders likely to determine the Democratic nominee. "And they walk around with capes on," she said.

I now hillary is for america she cares about happens and the need to straighten out what bush has done to it. She may have some flaws but has alway work to help people.I feel so bad at the way she has been treated by the news people .Obama hasnt proven anything yet is loved by the news pleople remenber we wanted change when bush took over I think inpressions he made on the courtry I feel the same is happening how.I pray God will be done for our courtry.
I know all politicians lie, but she is just BAD at it .... and this is just the Pre-Game!
However hard she tries, she will never be as smooth of tongue as Bill. I am not gender bashing or right-left bashing here, I just find her attempts at spin very disturbing, and can't help but wonder how she would handle a REAL crisis....
I don't think lying is funny. She lied about Bosnia, multiple times. None of her excuses about it make sense. Lying to further your own blind ambition is not the kind of "human" trait we need in a president.

81% of the country feel we are headed in the wrong direction. Hillary and John represent business as usual, more of the same. Barack can win. Let's put in the rookie, by not using the play book, we might win. I believe he hasn't been looked at closely for fear that everyone wanting change will have to face the reality that he isn't the answer either. The hope and the fear.
I know I'm tired of the status quo, but don't think a Marxist society is the change I'm looking for.
The suggestion that Senator Clinton's service as First Lady somehow qualifies her as the person most ready to be President of the United States is a ludicrous assertion. Perhaps then she and Laura Bush should share a ticket. It would, however, be difficult to determine who of the two has the most experience to be President. After all, Laura Bush has traveled around the world and given her opinion regarding many significant issues. However, I don't recall Laura Bush, (as first lady) blatantly lying about being shot at in Bosnia, risking a possible US invasion of that country! Or lying about her daughter being near the twin towers when they got hit, and spinning an outlandish tale of how she (Chelsea) had to run for her life, just to win a seat in the senate! The fact is Senator Clinton is a liar! She lied when she said she put pressure on Bill to intervene in Rwanda, and she lied to the voters in Ohio as she now lies to the voters in your state, when she says she fought against NAFTA. As the White House papers show, she was a huge proponent of NAFTA. Senator Clinton will do anything to win this nomination including this business about Rev. Wright. The Clinton's (Bill and Hillary) at the point the Monica Lewinsky story was about to break, invited ministers from around the country to come to the White House for a prayer breakfast. They were all aware of the scandal about to unfold but chose to attend rather than snub the Clinton's, that's where the photo of President Clinton shaking Rev. Wrights' hand comes in:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/20/photograph-of-bill-clinton-and-rev-wright-surfaces/
Rev. Wright is not an evil racist (which in itself is positively ridiculous) as the Clinton's and Mayor Nutter would like everyone to believe.
During Bill Clinton's presidency Senator Clinton was not qualified to speak in any official capacity, nor was she in a position to sign peace treatise or broker deals. It's absolutely absurd and offensive to the intelligence of thinking individuals to suggest otherwise. She was however given the official position to head and be the chairwoman of the Task Force on National Health Care Reform. As usual she attempted to secretly draft the bill, botched the job, turned Democrats against her and effectively galvanized the Republican Party to work in unity against the Democrats!
Now fast forward to the not so subtle lobbying of the insurance company responsible for halting the 1993 health care reform plan of the Clinton Administration -- Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA), now America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) --paid President Clinton $150,000.00 dollars in June of 2005, to deliver a speech to their board. I believe it should raise a red flag to those supporting/endorsing Senator Clinton to recognize the problematic relationship created by this. The language that now crafts Senator Clinton’s health care plan, mirrors AHIP’s proposal in remarkably unsettling ways that warrant examination.

Senator Obama has far more legislative experience than Senator Clinton. He served as an Illinois senator for 8 years and has only 2 less years of congressional experience than Senator Clinton. His experience as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, Illinois State Senator and US Senator will enrich the position of President and bring about a positive change much needed in Washington.
She cares about this country. The way she comes across is just not the
best. And the fact this country has been in power by either a Clinton or a Bush
just does not help her either. That's no fault of her own, it just is. Personally,
I don't like the fact she stayed with Bill after the Monica thing. Whether is my
business or not, like Chelsea claims, it changed my perception of her character.
If she had kicked him in the gutter, I will be voting for her just out of respect. But staying with him, whether for good reasons or not, comes across as she was staying in there for political reasons.
The fawning by the media over Obama while continually attacking Clinton created an uphill playing field for Clinton and yet she is still very close in needed delegates. Further, the narrative of this primary process would be entirely different (Clinton would be ahead in delegates) if the heads of Dem party hadn't screwed up so badly in disenfranchising Florida and Ohio voters.
I doubt that the Dems can win the election without taking Florida and/or Ohio. What a mess. It is ridiculous and ironic with the appropriate protests in 2000 from the Dem leadership about not disenfranching voters in Florida, and then the Dem leadership does essentially the same thing in 2008. It is as if they forgot completely about the Electoral College.
The Democratic Party is running out of feet to shoot themselves in. Further, the media seems to have dictated the course of the primary process with the majority of people unwilling or unable to find out anything about Obama's background and history in the Senate in Illinois, and his lack of action in the US Senate.
I'm afraid this 20 year veteran fails to see the humor in joking about Senator Clinton's multiple false claims of being under fire. Such comments and joking about it demeans the service of thousands of soldiers really subject to sniper fire, and the fears of concerns of their family at home.
I view such claims as cynical pandering in an effort to get the military vote as well as mislead the general population (many of whom also haven't been exposed to military life), into thinking Senator Clinton has "been there."
there is nothing funny about her lies about the sniper fire incident. lying comes far too naturally to her.
George, America is truly your country. Freedom of your opinion and the ability to butcher trying to say it.
Now she's joking about her lies like we all ought to just laugh it off? Like habitually lying is a normal behavior that any American can understand? Her joking about her lies gives me the creeps. She's a dangerous woman who doesn't even realize the gravity of her own actions. That doesn't excuse her, that makes it more frightening!
GO HILLARY!!!!!!
I have NO idea what you just said
Faux'Bama is a Gov Patrick clone. All glitter but no gold.
Go Hillary !
She is terrific. She has worked very hard in her life, is very smart, and I'm afraid women in America will think 10 years from now, boy we blew it! We could have finally had a qualified, dedicated woman in the white house and we let her get away. I understand the Obama mystique, but more and more I think he's one smooth talking, slick willy, that has a way with words. I'm all for unity and equality, but I think we're really blowing it here.
As Hillary said during a previous debate, We need another Clinton in the White House to clean up the mess that a Bush will leave behind. I don't see how the Barack love fest can or would have any experience dealing with the problems we face when th enew administration takes over. We have seen how Deval Patrick's promises have panned out so far. IT will be time for real action not all this talk. Besides, the only substantive things that Barack has said he would do to repair the problems facing this nation are to agree with Hillary's plans. Saturday Night Live has hit it right on the head with their skits.
Has any other president done as much harm to the nation as has "W"? in his 7+ years in office, He took us from a zero budget deficit to what may approach a trillion dollars so far. We are hated around the world, by not just idealogic extremists, but also by our allies. The Financial stability of this country is in a shambles as is the middle class while unscrupulous corporate mongers have ripped off the middle class while the Bush Administration & the Republican party have blocked any attempts to take back control from these corporations. The government and most importantly, the people of this great country have lost all power to the greedy. Ted Kennedy & John Kerry whom I have long supported have fallen in line with everything bad about Congress, by not adhering to the will of the voters of Massachusetts & supporting Hillary. So why shouldn't she continue this contest & try to gain the support of the Superdelegates when it will actually matter. Barack has won very few states that will end up voting democratically in the general election. Hillary has won almost every key democratic state that will go democratic & could very well take Florida & Michigan, unless the DNC denies their election results prior to the Convention. If they don't count them per the elections already taken, I strongly believe that the voters in these states will turn their backs on the democratic party .
I was previously a Clinton supporter, but she has shown her true colors this campaign, and they arent pretty. The majority of this country didnt want Bush as President, which is why there were broken voter machines, boxes of ballots found in garbage cans, the American perople were disenfranchised. I cannot not believe a presidential candidate who has OUTRIGHT LIED, and flip-flopp during her campaign. The tactics she has played show just how unexperienced she is. Both Obama and Clintion HAVE BEEN IN THE SENATE 8 years. You cant call sleeping or not sleeping with the President as experience. She is trying to OVER-BURDEN OUR government. Obama is not....though I do have some doubts about Obama I fell that he would make a much better candidate than Clinton and Mccain
George..........Learn how to spell and TYPE! You are definitely a lib!
Hillary has everything necessary to be a great leader of this country. Obama is a liar, his supportors will not admit he lies all the time. I will not vote for Obama just because he is a black man.
It's not funny, Hillary.
Nice angle though, your tenacity is admirable. Too bad your a selfish liar or I'd consider voting for you.
You got Obama using harsh rhetoric on NAFTA while his campaign is saying the opposite in private.
You got Obama talking about leaving Iraq, while TWO of his campaign members say otherwise.
Does anyone really know what Obama really stands for?
The "humorous" attitude posted by Hillary Clinton to attempt to spin her "fairy tale" in Bosnia came out worse than the lie itself .
Whom does she think she is fooling ? because she thinks she is fooling people before an AFTER the truth came out with the video... what is misspeaking ? to have a blank ? and plenty of others...no one in his or her right mind is able to convince the public that it was a mild "mishap" . IT WAS A PATHETIC FAIRY TALE WHERE REALITY WAS NOT A PLAYER ANY MORE ,BUT THE SHOW WAS THE ISSUE. ! In my opinion it's worse than to lie because your are conscious of it ,whereas "self telling enhancing fable" are of an utmost concern ! You cannot prevent yourself to match fables with the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 'S BEHAVIOUR ! IT JUST DOESN'T CLICK !....FORTUNATELY .
I'm sick of the media criticizing Hillary and fawning over Obama....when she does wrong, they want to crucify her and when Obama does wrong... they make excuses for him...how unfair is that? Even my favorite guy, Keith Olberman has gotten into the act! Shame on you Keith!!!
What is it with those people....they are turning people against her...that is so wrong!!!
Also, the Democratic Party has turned their back on her and I hope it comes back to haunt them. Those turncoats are making me and alot of people want to tear up our voters cards.
I am a lifelong Democrat and a Proud one , at that...and I am so ashamed of what the Democratic Party is doing to Hillary.
She is an intelligent, gutsy woman who cares about her country and the people in it...she doesn't deserve that kind of treatment. Sure, she makes mistakes...she's not perfect... but Obama is not squeaky clean!
Anyway, whatever happens...happens... there's nothing I can do about it. But one thing is for sure...I'll be voting and cheering for Hillary in Pittsburgh, Pa.
"Misspoke, sleep deprived, I apologize...feminist pleas..." have become the Hillary campaign "Smoke and Mirrors.", trying to reduce "Mountains to Mole Hills: As often as not, they are screens to mask deep-abiding dishonesty about very important issues. Look behind them; tThey are not mere "flaps."
The "snipers...negotiations in Ireland., etc...World Women's Conference speaker...went to 80 countries as First Lady..." are far more than mere exaggerations. They are lying on her resume for the presidency.
The Irish Nobel Laurate confirmed that Hillary played no substantive role in the agreements. In Kosovo, the USA political agreements and war were officially completed before the HRC/Chelsea trip. Her speech on human rights to the Woman's Int'l Conference was undoubtedly well-done, and the audience more attentive, perhaps, to the First Lady of the USA, the only superpower left. But it was only a speech, nothing more. In extensive int'l. travel with her husband, surely she met had dinner and conversation with the upper political crust . Her actual experience was strictly ceremonial, yet of value to her. No doubt.
But, in no way did she function as a government representative. To lie about that to the American people speaks to critical character flaws.
(This is not to suggest HRC is any less qualified in actual experience than many past or current presidential candidates. To Washington insiders, this dishonesty is merely politics as usual. I hope voters will take a good hard look at her political character, polished since her early days. After so many years, she can so seemlessly write off as mere "flaps" her political expediency. Voters should not be so lenient.
The above "resume" items may seem relatively minor. I never even touched upon the serious, hard core dishonesties: Filegate, Whitewater, Travelgate, destruction of National archives, etc.
