Critics to show up at McCain fund-raiser

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor April 8, 2008 12:06 PM

John McCain will face some uninvited and unwelcome guests at a fund-raiser tonight in the nation's capital, The Washington Post is reporting.

A campaign finance reform group, which the Globe reported last month is accusing McCain of reneging on his commitment to public financing, plans to show up at the Willard Hotel.

The nonpartisan Public Campaign Action Fund once counted the presumptive Republican nominee as an ally, but since he started running for president he has taken his name off bills. McCain's campaign says he saw a conflict of interest because he could benefit from public financing.
