Democratic race combative again
The bitterness is back in the Democratic nomination fight.
In the latest sign, Barack Obama suggested to a forum on manufacturing today that rival Hillary Clinton had a beer Saturday night in Indiana as a photo opportunity to appeal to working class voters.
"Around election time, the candidates can't do enough for you. They'll promise you anything, give you a long list of proposals and even come around, with TV crews in tow, to throw back a shot and a beer."
The Clinton camp responded by sending reporters a series of photos of Obama having a beer and bowling -- and referring again to Obama's comments on "bitter" small town voters that started this latest back and forth.
“With all due respect, this is the same politician who spent six days posing for clichéd camera shots that included bowling gutterballs, walking around a sports bar, feeding a baby cow, and buying a ham at the Philly market (albeit one that cost $99.99 a pound)," Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said in a statement. "Sen. Obama's speeches won’t hide his condescending views of Americans living in small towns."
