McCain ties Obama to Hamas
John McCain sought again today to tie Barack Obama to the terrorist group Hamas.
In a conversation with conservative bloggers, McCain said, "I think it's very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States. I think that people should understand that I will be Hamas's worst nightmare....If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas, I think people can make judgments accordingly."
McCain is referring to Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef, who said in an interview with WABC Radio this month that the terrorist group supports Obama's foreign policy vision.
The presumptive Republican nominee also used the comment/association in a fund-raising letter last week, telling potential donors, "Barack Obama's foreign policy plans have even won him praise from Hamas leaders."
Obama's campaign criticized McCain, calling his comments personal attacks not in keeping with his pledge to run a respectful campaign. It also pointed out that Obama has denounced Hamas as a terrorist group that targets civilians.
Obama distanced himself from former President Jimmy Carter, who has hinted he supports Obama and who met with Hamas leaders last week, over the objections of the Bush administration and Israeli government. Obama said he wouldn't talk to Hamas until it recognized Israel's right to exist.
Obama has said he is willing to meet with foreign leaders, even those with objectionable views, to improve the US standing in the world. But he distinguishes between governments, like Iran, and groups, like Hamas.
UPDATE: McCain spokesman Brian Rogers responded to the Obama campaign's criticism: “This is a legitimate issue for the American people to think about. The reason for Hamas’ praise of Senator Obama’s foreign policy is his commitment to meet unconditionally with Iran -- a nation whose president denies the Holocaust, threatens to wipe Israel off the map, funds terrorists and sends weapons to Iraq to kill American soldiers. Senator Obama’s positions present a radical departure from the longstanding bipartisan consensus for isolating rogue regimes like Iran and North Korea."
"It is not only responsible to raise these critical issues in this election, but it would be the height of irresponsibility not to have this discussion with the American people.”

It's good to see John McCain show the world that he thinks what Hamas says is important enough to broadcast it to the world after criticizing Carter for elevating their profile. McCain is a hypocrite who needs to retire.
Dear Senator McCain
The idea of creating fear and taking political advantage of that is dead. Bush has done is for 7 years now and frankly the American people are getting wise to it.
What I fear is what the candidates will have to do for the people who financed their campaign once they get into office. Care to tell us who is financing your campaign?
The mass media seems unwilling or unable to make any comment on that. Perhaps the prosecutors will in the upcoming scandal that is about to break.
Side note: This is another in a long list of ludicrous comments McCain has been making on every subject including the economy and Iraq, how anyone can afford any deference to what McCain has been saying lately is beyond my comprehension.
Perhaps, like people around the world, Hamas sees Obama as a peacemaker, a leader who dreams of bringing the world together in understanding and emphathy. Who offers hope to the world. Who thinks it's a good thing to talk to people.
My, my, politics is a slimy business. Barack just isn't slick enough at doing the old grab and twist. And I also don't believe he has the stomach for it. I've seen his discomfort when he's in negative mode. It's just not part of his nature and his goodness. I believe that with all my heart.
I wish you a fair wind at your back, Mr. Obama! Always.
I'm a Republican supporter of the last two election but the people of this country are fatigue of foreign issues and the economy is taking its toll even in my own family.I don't think Mccain can fix the economy without some real help from someone who knows it better and no other potential Vice President running mate than his former presidential rival Mitt Romney.Mitt Romney has the skill and the "EXPERIENCE" in managing the economy and he just came off the Primaries and Presidential bid with most American noticing his economic strength and potential as well as his bright mind and Presidential appearance.
barack hussain mouhamad obama is a little fishy to me.......his priest is a little crazy, his ties to bombings are a little crazy, his wifes comments about america are a little different, his muslam ties are a little different, his won't pledge to allegience is interesting, his point of change.....change....change.....with no real answer is interesting, i am black............when he is 1/2 and 1/2..what about the white side?..........not good for america won't get the black vote?.........hi im half white........just doesn't make blacks happy.
everyone voted for war after 911., barack, hillary, everyone.........................now it's not popular............who cares lets change our minds..........i hate war......wake up dorks,
yeah lets vote for barack hussain mohamad obama for prez.........hitler was a great guy to the common folk as well?.............i forgot to tell you that all the jews will die............just a simple miscue?
Where does Mcain get his money from? The real question is where does Obama get his money from he claims he doesnt do the whole you give me money, and I'll give you this when Im elected, then Im very curious who keeps funding his Campaign, Maybe the Hamas leader that loves him so much.
Mcain is right, I do not like Mcain at all, I'm not a republican, nor a Hillary supporter, but do we really want a president that our enemies want running our country? One of you stated maybe he just believes Obama will unite the world, well that is flat wrong Hamas doesnt want to unite with anyone unless they will help them destroy Isreal, and all of their supporters.
McCain won't last untill the general election. He's way out of his league in 2008. The sheen of his breastplate has been tarnished by Bush and his Arab oil buddies. Media propaganda is old hat and doesn't produce the results that old school politicians expect. All the right wingers have left is racism, Rush Limbaugh calling for riots, religious demogogery and fear. Thank you red America for reminding us all what our society is about.
Don't you all find it curious that the GOP, John Mc Cain, and every right wing news organization in the country keep trying to throw Barack Obama under the bus.
It's all because republicans would much rather face Hillary in the general election because she is much easier to beat.
Let's face it, we haven't heard ALL the shots they're going to take at Hillery yet. Monica gate, White Water gate, her affiliation with the neo-con churches, is she a lesbian?, lies about "sniper fire, sleep deprivation, says she'll follow rules then cheat (Fla/Mich), Bill's impeachment... need I go on.
No more Clinto's or Bush's in the White House.
Wake up America This country needs change and Obama is the ONLY avenue to REAL CHANGE!
In response to C. Watsons post critique of Senator Mc cain, I believe Jimmy Carter has no business contacting HAMAS and talking to our enemy directly without our governments approval.Either Jimmy is just senile or he shares a deep hatred for our admiistration or probably he just wanted to do something that might make up for the fiasco he perpatrated when he was president and the Iraqs' were using our citizens as hostages.I remember sitting on a aircraft carrier waiting for President Reagan to give us the OK to go in and get our people and then leave a reminder to the Iranians to not tread on the USA.Fortunately for them they saw the light and their was no loss of life.
Congratulations!
This is the dumbest thing I've read all day.
Terrorist groups and extremists are a real threat to this country and the world in general. McCain knows about warfare having been a POW for over 5 years. What the youth of this Country don't understand is that there are real threats in the world. They (our youth) have been sheltered and coddled by their parents. Many have been given everything they ever wanted and never had to work or sacrifice for anything. They are in for a rude awakening when there is no longer anyone around to pamper them. They are naive in thinking that terrorists are their friends.
Obama and Mccain are both got caught in the Hamas crossfire for beign there without thinking. You see Obama is percieved by many as an element of the Muslim world even though he isn't despite his name bears the emblems.Mccain shouldn't dare talked nor bother to comment on it because the last thing he wouldn't want to do is hinting to the voters that he will drawn his sword and ready for battle the moment he take command. How silly and waste of time for these candidates to take shot at each other on a meaningless issue which is Hamas. The Israelis and the Palestinian leaders are at it on the process for peace and that should be there responsibilities and concern not our citizens. They both in need of inelligent and knowledgeable VPs that possess the capabilities and patience to assist them in making reasonable and right choices for our future as a nation. For Obama he will have to choose a reliable running mate as for Mccain he'll need Mitt Romney not for a few but for many important reason.
Geez, some people (John's son) are so ignorant. May I remind some of you that the Middle East is NOT ameriKKKa's bitch. Stay in your own f__ing country and sort out your many problems.
Hamas is not an enemy of the USA. Who is the enemy of Hamas? Israel. One would think that the presidential candidates are running for the Israeli leadership. Or are they just trying to please the ones who control US foreign policy (the ISRAELIS!).
