Obama ad responds to Clinton on 'bitter' comments
Barack Obama's campaign just issued its TV ad in Pennsylvania responding to Hillary Clinton's hitting him for his remarks about bitter small town voters.
It doesn't repeat the comments, but instead tries to portray them as politics as usual and a distraction from important issues.
The ad starts by with footage showing the scattered boos and jeers that greeted Clinton when she mentioned the comments Monday in a speech in Pittsburgh. "There's a reason people are rejecting Hillary Clinton's attacks," the announcer says. "Because the same old Washington politics won't lower the price of gas or help our struggling economy."
The ad then highlights endorsements won by Obama from newspapers in Allentown and Scranton. "Barack Obama will represent all Americans," the narrator says. "He offers a new approach."
It ends with Obama speaking to workers in Steelton, Pa. "When we get past the politics of division and distraction and we start actually focusing on what we have in common, there's nothing we can't accomplish," he says.
